What if martial arts didn't exist? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Powerlifting...
I mean, honestly, I don't even know where to start with this whole mess, because it feels like everyone and their mother thinks they're an expert now, which I guess is just how things work these days, but it's still incredibly frustrating to watch.

But honestly, when you look at how much those telescopic batons are actually being used, I guess it’s pretty obvious since more and more special military units and SWAT teams are adding them to their standard gear, so there's that.

I’d really love to sit in on one of those training seminars... so if anyone happens to hear anything about workshops like that being open to the general public, please just let me know. Cheers.

But what about those telescopic batons? I mean, does anyone here actually have experience using one out on the street or in some kind of sketchy situation? And honestly, is it even legal to carry one around, like, am I going to run into massive trouble with the cops if they bust me on a Saturday night carrying one?
Weekend is almost here ;) in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Anyway, maybe you could just tell her about it this Thursday at the beach... if my memory serves me right, the flight takes off around 1:30 PM...

BTW, is it really that hard to just go ask if you're actually interested?

I mean, I have to try and catch their specific training times, but honestly, since we already have great people like you on this forum, it kind of makes all that effort redundant, so I can save myself some time and the headache... thanks, I appreciate it.

And seriously, I was more just looking for info than actually trying to sign up for classes right now, because kickboxing isn't really my thing—I'd much rather spend a few years building a solid foundation in wrestling or boxing, even though BJJ looks pretty cool too.

Question: Is there an Ultimate or MMA club in Osijek?

The closest thing I could dig up was Champion Gym, but I'm thinking they might just be focused on BJJ, I guess.
For the GLADIATOR... in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Wait, I just saw this thread... FR GLADIATOR! 😉
Mirko is stepping into the ring! :-) in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Good grief, the guy is pushing 300 pounds at barely 5'10"! I mean, how is he supposed to not be strong? It’s just like being up against Mark Hunt (who's like 6'7" and a massive 400 lbs)—unless you're physically handicapped, you're basically fighting a tank.
Is the belt actually useful? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
I mean, I guess the whole point of a belt was actually being able to carry gear... or if you’ve got some hidden tool tucked under your gi, it keeps it from sliding right off your waist; plus, maybe it helped with stuff like climbing or whatever... I suppose people actually used them for practical things once upon a time. But now, every single sport has just turned them into these little labels for ranking and identification...
It’s not necessarily a bad thing, though, because they let you see who actually knows more than you do (well, they *should*), and you’re supposed to show them some respect since they clearly put in more work toward the same goal you're chasing—assuming martial arts even have a goal, like perfecting your body and spirit or something.
