Man, this forum... you can find way better info elsewhere. Just use Google. Focus on one muscle group per day. Day one: chest and triceps... Day two: back and biceps... Day three: legs and core... Keep at it until you hit failure, but watch out for injuries. Rest is key. Don't skip the warm-ups or stretching either. You'll feel the lactic acid buildup, but you can work through it by hitting that group again later—say, if you did chest and triceps on Monday, hit them again Thursday.
Try throwing in some kettlebell work, TRX, or other gear once in a while—gets the whole body moving at once. Don't forget swimming, cycling, or running...
Post-workout, just grab a mix of whey, some grape sugar, and creatine.
most protein on the market is actually decent... just seems pretty overpriced here in the States. what they've got is fine, I guess when people say junk food, I'm not talking about McDonald's. mostly thinking more along the lines of candy, pastries, and all that sugar
I don't even bother sweetening them. They're all pretty mid-range for me, and I've just gotten used to it (they taste better with milk, though). The only outlier is the chocolate one from Optimum Casein—the texture is weird... kind of lumpy in your mouth. Anyone else getting that? XXL is for the girls 😁
slydriver52 said:Why is there always someone acting like an expert when they clearly have no clue? It’s about the protein ratio. If we're talking pure whey, you need to know the exact split between standard WPC80 concentrate and isolate. If a blend is roughly 70% concentrate and 30% isolate, that should be stated clearly. You can't just list concentrate, isolate, and hydrolysate without giving the actual ratios. Plus, with brands like Optimal, nobody actually knows the glutamine content because the label is vague, just listing "glutamine & precursors" and leaving it at that... Flavor matters for sales, obviously. Companies hire professionals specifically to nail that part.
Look, man, don't get all arrogant behind a screen. I was just asking about the ratios because the info wasn't clear. Flavor is whatever. I haven't run into anything that tastes truly amazing yet. It's all pretty much the same... you can easily tweak the taste anyway.
It's a decent option, but honestly, that packaging isn't really worth the money. You can find better ways to dose it—this topic has been covered a thousand times already on this thread...
Ashley Baker34 said:Hey, could anyone help me out here? so I run about thirty minutes every day. No strength training yet, but I'm planning to start soon. I really want to tone up—get some definition in my legs and abs, swap out fat for lean muscle without getting too bulky... just looking to shape my body. Do I actually need protein shakes, or can I skip them since I'm not trying to become a bodybuilder? Basically, is getting enough protein from regular meals sufficient?
It all comes down to how much you're already eating. Aim for roughly 1.5g of protein per kg of body weight.
It’s making you bulk up like a box of donuts, not like someone on creatine. Creatine is for strength. If you want to put on weight, just load up on carbs. Maybe have your trainer actually show you some leg exercises once in a while...
Most of those overpriced proteins are just loaded with sugar and fats. Honestly, I think a whey and casein blend is the way to go if you're hitting a late session at the gym
