Ovaries: Cysts and related issues [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
It really depends on what kind of cyst we're talking about. If you’re dealing with something like an endometriotic cyst, for instance—you can't just brush that off—you might actually need urgent surgery. It's definitely not something to take lightly... things can escalate pretty quickly, leading to things like vomiting or even passing out...
I’m currently 22 weeks along... Because of my family history, I’ve been checking my blood pressure at home pretty regularly—usually three times a day. It mostly sits right around 115/75, though sometimes it dips a little lower or jumps up slightly, but it generally stays within that range. During my checkup this past Monday, I was just so incredibly anxious and couldn't seem to settle down... we were doing an ultrasound and everything looked perfect, but my blood pressure spiked all the way to 180/110 just from the sheer nerves. Later on, it went right back to being normal, just like it has been for the last three days. My doctor sent me off to get a few tests done, so I was hoping someone might help me make sense of them—I don't see the doctor again until Tuesday. I feel absolutely wonderful and haven't had any symptoms at all, but these urine sediment results have me feeling a bit worried. I'm just not sure what they mean or what they might be pointing toward... Thanks in advance.imageimage
Pelvic ultrasound/ovarian scan questions... in Women's Health ·
I was at the clinic for ultrasounds five different times during my 5-week mark because we were worried about an ectopic pregnancy—so basically, until we cleared that, I was going in every single day. Honestly, getting an ultrasound isn't going to hurt the baby. You can even pick up a handheld fetal doppler or a mini ultrasound machine online if you want to listen to the heartbeat from the comfort of your own home. Seriously, don't worry, the baby will be just fine...

It really depends on what her cycles look like and when she’s actually ovulating, so yeah—it's definitely a possibility...

I was just reading somewhere that I shouldn't be taking pain relievers like Neogen about a week before anesthesia... which is a bit stressful because I rely on it quite a bit to manage some pretty intense pain. My pre-op appointment with the anesthesiologist isn't until three days before the actual surgery, so I won't really have a chance to ask them then. Does anyone know what else I might be able to use for pain relief leading up to the procedure? Thanks in advance...
Hi there,

I just finished my pre-op testing... I'm scheduled for surgery to remove an ovarian endometriotic cyst. I'm 32. I recently cleared up a case of ureaplasma, and I have a small amount of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast) present. I also had a cold quite recently. Just so you know, I had my blood drawn right after my period ended—maybe two or three days in... I've been taking Advil for the pain. I was wondering if they might postpone the surgery because of some elevated values in these results? Thanks in advance...

Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and ICU: Q&A in Health ·
Hi there.
I need to head in for surgery to deal with a 7cm endometriotic cyst. What’s really weighing on my mind—naturally—is the whole general anesthesia thing. As far as I know, I don't have any major underlying health issues... well, none that I'm aware of. About 3 or 4 years ago, I had some episodes of heart palpitations and was on beta-blockers, but that seems to be settled now—I haven't taken them in 2 or 3 years.
Honestly, my biggest worry right now is my weight. I'm about 5'5" and 196 lbs. I'm trying to lose some weight in the time I have left before the procedure. On top of that, I've started worrying about my teeth lately—they aren't exactly rotting or anything, they just seem more brittle, like they're wearing down faster...
Is there anything at all I could do to lower the risks associated with anesthesia, or am I kind of stuck? I don't smoke, I don't drink alcohol, and I'm not on any medications. I guess I'm just feeling pretty overwhelmed by the anxiety of it all.

As for me, I’ve been dealing with some pain on the left side of my abdomen and back—and occasionally, it hits the left side of my buttock and down my left leg too... though it’s never just the leg by itself.

Has anyone ever dealt with leg pain or tightness caused specifically by an ovarian cyst?
I just had a color Doppler scan, and they told me my veins in my legs look perfectly fine. However, they suggested I head over to the gynecologist because there might be a cyst on my ovary that’s putting enough pressure on my pelvic veins to cause this radiating pain down my leg. Anyone else been through this?

My left leg feels a bit tingly and tight because of this large ovarian cyst...
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Unfortunately, I can't really offer much help here—though I’m actually just as curious about the answer as you are... (though, honestly, if it were something involving a little bit of DIY home repair 😁, I definitely wouldn't be signing up for surgery myself) 🙂
So, I was at my doctor's office recently, and she casually mentioned that she’d recommend checking out a week-long intensive weight loss program at a specialized outpatient clinic.

The idea is that you get a whole team of specialists—think endocrinologists, dietitians, maybe a nutritionist too—who go through everything with you in detail. They basically map out exactly which foods work best for your specific body type and show you precisely what your meals should look like, both in terms of ingredients and portion sizes.

It’s mostly stuff we all pretty much know intuitively, I suppose... but it still feels like it could be really helpful to have it laid out clearly.

To give you some context, I’ve been struggling quite a bit with my weight lately—I put on about 65 pounds while I was on hormone therapy—and now it’s proving to be a real uphill battle to shed it. Plus, my family history isn't exactly helping things along, with a lot of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart issues, and thyroid problems running through the lineage...

I was wondering if anyone here has actually gone through something like this? Has anyone tried one of these "intensive programs" before? I'd love to hear what your experience was like...
