Complaint regarding Carter's moderation in Indianapolis in Feedback & Suggestions ·
ruggedeagle40 said:Look, I know for a fact I didn't intend to offend anyone here.

Man, you can't be 100% sure about that. Honestly, nobody can. 🙂

I could go into this post with nothing but pure, heartfelt intentions—really, I could—but someone might still take offense anyway. At the end of the day, whether we actually hurt someone's feelings or not isn't really our call to make... only they can tell us that. We aren't mind readers!

What people usually call "arrogant" is exactly this kind of thing—trying to decide for someone else that they *shouldn't* feel offended and then trying to convince them that we didn't cross the line. It’s basically just trying to dictate how other people are allowed to feel, which is a total ego trip.

Is there actually a reason why this isn't pinned to the top? Like, are there some kind of technical glitches preventing transfers from the US over to Mexico or something?

Daniel Ward87 said:I am totally with you on the idea that we’ve gotta keep things polite, but honestly—hardly anyone ever actually stops to look at who these people complaining actually are, why they’re even making a fuss, or how they're going about it.

Man, I really, truly hope this doesn't turn into just another one of those endless threads where we just sit around making a giant list of every mistake and bad call made. We have plenty of those already, and if anyone actually cares, they can go find them whenever they want. Look, I'm all for pointing out mistakes when they happen, but I'm really dreading another useless "list of grievances" that doesn't actually accomplish anything.

As for being polite—listen, politeness isn't just about the way you phrase things. It's not just about writing a pretty, well-structured sentence. There’s a whole layer of respecting the person you're talking to involved too. But hey, whatever, moving on.

And regarding the people doing the complaining? They're all over the map. Smart, dumb, polite, rude, annoying, exhausting... honestly, they're all types. But just because someone else decides to jump off a cliff doesn't mean everyone else should follow suit. Someone else being rude is never an excuse for you to be rude back.

Let's get specific about what needs changing—let's start with a single PDF, a certain person, or whatever works.

Alright.
I'm all for making Brandon Castillo4 an admin. I don't think that changes the stuff that's been working great on this Reddit, and that's definitely staying put. Someone once said that if the fish stinks, it starts at the head. I'm pretty sure that holds true even when the fish is fresh.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone.

Scott Long71 said:They didn't just rip off our subforums—they grabbed the actual headers too. Even the header for Men's Corner, which is Copyright by Drito or Walter. Fast forward a few years and that whole site gets sold off for a massive chunk of change.

And honestly, that’s exactly why I think focusing on the core idea—or if you prefer, the vision—is the right way to look at it. I mean, let's be real, anyone can scrape a website's layout, the subforum names, even specific thread titles. It happens all the time, whether it's shady or straight-up illegal. But what’s actually tough to "steal"? It's the soul behind the screen. A community is like a living thing—it needs a clear sense of purpose and a way to sustain itself to actually grow. You don't need to hide an idea behind a copyright; a good enough concept defends itself.

plus, I consider Unknown to be a friendly, non-commercial forum

Glad to hear it.

Brandon Castillo4 said:Look, I totally get that handing out permanent bans just because someone mentions another site is a massive overreaction—it really was. But honestly, having endless debates about other platforms is just pointless too. It’s like, we’re already seeing this happening on a different thread where people are basically performing an autopsy on some massive 200-page megathread, obsessing over who said what and when.

Is that actually constructive or even necessary?

No censorship, no gatekeeping. If someone loves being over on Unknown, fine, they can stay there. If they like both, they can sign up for both. It’s all about choice, right? Why do we need to dive into the weeds of it—digging up motives and dissecting specific posts from way back?

Now, hold on—I’m not talking about constant discussions or spamming info. What I mean is, if we talk about certain media or content, sometimes I feel the need to mention something that happens to be—god forbid—on some other subreddit. And let’s be real, if mentioning things wasn't so strictly forbidden, we wouldn't even have this spamming situation popping up on neighboring threads in the first place.

So, I’m not talking about spamming; I’m talking about just... mentioning things. Is it allowed? And if so, how much?

And Brandon Castillo4, one more thing. This isn't a thread about some other community—it's specifically about *this* one. Get the idea?

Got an idea!

Messages, complaints, comments—whatever you've got! What's on your mind? Lay it on me! So, I'm sitting here thinking—and honestly, my brain is just firing in a million different directions today—but I really need some fresh ideas. Like, seriously. I feel like I've been staring at the same four walls for way too long and everything is starting to feel a bit... stale? If you know what I mean. Anyway, I’m totally open to whatever you guys have got. Don't be shy! Throw some random thoughts, crazy projects, or even just some cool stuff you've been looking into lately my way. I'm feeling super restless and just want to get the gears turning again—so, let's hear it! What've you got?Alright, let's hear it—complaints, rants, or whatever else you've got. How can we make this Reddit community actually better? I’m talking about making the whole vibe more civilized and less... well, you know. Lay it on me!

Look, I’m not trying to dig up the past or dwell on what went down—I'll really try my best to stay out of it—but honestly, having my permanent ban lifted leaves me with a massive question mark hanging over my head. Like, seriously, what is the actual vibe here now? What's even the point of this Reddit community these days?

Look, the President was crystal clear about what’s off-limits and what just doesn't fly here—he laid it all out. But honestly? Now that he’s gone, I can't say for sure that I actually get the core idea or the vision behind this whole Reddit community. You can take my word for it or not, but if I'm going to feel comfortable hanging out somewhere, I need at least some kind of signal regarding what this place actually wants to be. And yeah, obviously, I'd want to actually like it, too. It’s easy for me to say—if I don't vibe with the direction, whatever, it's no skin off my back—but it feels like I'm not the only one feeling totally lost right now, just trying to figure out where exactly we all stand.

Look, it’s pretty obvious there’s a massive disconnect between what the rules actually say and how things are being handled right now—like, it's glaringly apparent. I’m not sitting here expecting a total overhaul of the rulebook overnight, obviously, but man, this whole situation is just incredibly confusing.

On the flip side—and I’m still pretty salty about this—I actually got hit with a ban because apparently mentioning another site counts as "advertising." Like, seriously? Can you guys honestly see a future where someone just mentions a cool project from another community and it *doesn't* get flagged as a blatant ad? It's just sharing info, man... that's literally what being part of a community is all about!

Look, let me be crystal clear about this—if I stumble upon something awesome on Reddit and decide to share it somewhere else, I don't see that as "advertising." That’s just being a part of the community, you know? It's just sharing the good stuff, and honestly, I’m gonna keep doing it regularly. It's no different than if I went around telling everyone on any random message board that I'm heading over to the Children's Village this weekend to grab a bunch of fairy tales—either to read them myself or just sit back and listen to the kids reading aloud. It's all just about spreading the word.
So, I was just sitting here thinking—and bear with me, because my brain goes everywhere at once—but is there actually any chance, maybe in some far-off corner of this site’s future plans, that we could stop looking at other subreddits like they’re some invading enemy army? Like, seriously, can we just start treating them like the neighbors down the street who might occasionally pop over with an extra jar of homemade jam or something? Just a thought!

This is the exact part that’s really eating at me—but honestly, there’s so much more that's just a total blur right now. And look, the whole attitude toward other subreddits? That’s really just one tiny drop in the bucket compared to the rest of this mess.

So, what’s the whole deal with this place? Like, what's the actual vibe we're going for here?

Just a quick heads-up—don't take this as me trying to start something or being provocative. Just saying!
Hey, quick heads-up on that Chicago post—you totally missed a space after the comma following "ideas." Just a small thing!
darksailor2 said:I honestly have no clue! Like, what is even going on here? I am completely lost—seriously, can someone please just break this down for me? 😁 🤣

I honestly thought I was being crystal clear when I put that ad out there—like, wasn't it super obvious? I’m looking for a husband who’s actually doing well for himself—and yeah, I mean "well" in every single sense of the word! 😬

casualwolf12 said:What do you even call that one customer who just won't quit—you know the type—who basically lives to nitpick every single tiny little thing and hits you with a constant stream of complaints and "constructive" criticism over the smallest details? 🤔 Would I even be able to pull off being a store owner? Man, honestly—I don't know! Like, could I actually handle the stress of running the whole show without losing my mind? Probably not, haha! I’m way too laid back for that kind of pressure—I'd probably spend more time chatting up the regulars than actually checking the inventory or balancing the books. It sounds like a total whirlwind, you know? One minute you're dealing with a shipment from FedEx that's late as hell, and the next you've got some customer complaining about a coupon that expired in 2019. I just don't think I have that "boss" energy in me—I'm much better at just hanging out and enjoying the vibe! I wanted... So, if you actually managed to turn a guy like that into a total brand loyalist—I mean, someone who’s basically part of the family—how much would you even be willing to shell out just to keep him hooked? Like, what's the price tag on that kind of loyalty?

Permanent ban. Period.
It’s just not exactly the go-to move if you’re looking to actually pull people in—you know, like, when you want them showing up with their whole crew, bringing the neighbors along, or even getting the family involved to liven things up while the coworkers are around to join the party. 😁
And that’s about all I've got to say about wishing.

Eric Newman75 said:Alright, one last thing from me and then I'm done. My bad, obviously. 🙂

I messed up what I wrote above, and you just confirmed it—it did say he was married. That's point one.

Second, when I was talking about people dragging others, I wasn't really aiming at voden as much as I was at N'dugu and that one user who showed up here using the exact same rhetoric during the ZgSash thread. He dropped a few posts in a row, they got deleted, but they were up long enough that people started linking those insults back to the former moderator.

The guy got banned because his posts were genuinely toxic.

So, yeah. That's the deal.

Doxing on Reddit. Does that work? 😁

Basically, in an attempt to not drag things out or just keep repeating the same old info—which is why we were all using code words—I wasn't being super specific about what I meant when I called you out, and honestly, I wasn't totally clear either about what I thought you were getting at 😁
So we ended up just guessing, and well, here we are with a whole new thread.

Look, arguing over ownership, what can be said about whom, where, how, who’s responsible, or what actually counts as private... in my book, debating that shouldn't strip away any basic human decency. When I say that, I mean people should be able to look at the bigger picture instead of just clinging to the rulebook (even if I've been acting a bit thick lately regarding following the rules).

What I mean is—technically speaking—someone might actually have the right to post something about someone else, but that doesn't mean it's something we should just tolerate if you step back and look at the context. Rules are fine and all, but without context, they're pretty much useless.

Edit: mistywolf17 — props to the mod move (just so it's not like every single comment is negative 😬)

boldwalker12 said:Look, it’s not the same thing to say someone is married just because they posted it in another thread, versus outing who’s hooking up with whom among the users or mods if they haven't explicitly shared that info on Reddit.

The whole Euclid situation actually happens all the time on this site—someone starts a thread, people dig through their history, and then they're like, "Aha! You're a troll; you were saying something totally different over there." I don't see anything controversial about that.

If I'm even following this correctly. 🤔

I'm with you on that. And hey, maybe I totally misread the situation myself.

Because what I'm actually looking at is this:
- Someone mentions they're married. Then, on a different thread, they don't just repeat that fact—they pile on a bunch of descriptors to basically tear them down.
- Someone else mentions they're divorced, and again, on another thread, they take that one fact and attach a whole string of insults to it.
The only real difference is that in the first scenario, those descriptions are mostly socially acceptable, so adding them feels almost like "enlightening" people, whereas in the second case, those same kinds of jabs feel totally brutal.

In neither case is anyone just sticking to the plain facts—instead, they're taking assumptions and twisting them however they want to suit their own agenda.

But honestly, this feels more like a deep dive into ethics rather than a discussion about the rules regarding commenting on mod decisions. Can someone start a new thread so we stop spamming this one? 😁

Eric Newman75 said:It wasn't just about the language, though. It was about the incredibly primitive, cowardly act of leaking someone's private info on this Reddit thread.

On here—and I mean on the forum, not on some random site—you should only be discussing things that a user has actually shared about themselves. At the end of the day, it's their absolute, sacred right to filter what they want to reveal. Anything involving their private life—whether you found out via DMing, grabbing a coffee at Starbucks, or even during post-coital cuddling—is absolutely not meant to be broadcast to the whole world. It’s rude, it’s unprofessional, it's low, and honestly, it says a hell of a lot about the person doing it. If you ask me, I'd hand out a permanent ban for stuff like that, no questions asked.

So, what’s the actual difference between what he's saying and Euclid?

Disklejmer: I'm not a fan of either approach, honestly—but I don't see the distinction here, especially since both of them were just rehashing stuff that had already blown up in other threads.

Does the actual content being dragged out determine whether it's "primitive and cowardly" (man, that sounds weird to type out now)? Because, at the end of the day, the principle is exactly the same.

Jason Morgan said:Once you put a photo out there on the internet, the game is over. Period. Maybe 476 people on Reddit saw it, and maybe they decide to repost it just as easily. If you actually have a grievance against someone specific, then quit being vague—tell me who, what, and where.

So wait—if you put photos and info on your Facebook profile, and I get my hands on them through some mutual friends who happen to be your friends, then I post them in an off-topic thread... is that just "the end of the story" too?

Jason, think about it. End of story?
Hitting up the Messages, Complaints, and Comments subforum with this one. I’m starting a thread here because the auto-mod already nuked my first paragraph.

Seriously, auto-censorship is such a pain—you get these hundreds of thoughts swirling around in your head, you start tripping over yourself, and before you know it, you’ve totally lost your train of thought and have no clue where to even begin. And hey, if anyone actually thinks the auto-mod is stopping me from being rude, swearing, or calling people out by name—man, you are dead wrong. I don't have that urge, and honestly, if I did, I’d find a way around it in a heartbeat.

What I *do* feel like doing is commenting on something else entirely. And that "something else" involves purpose.

Think of it like this—little side note—for some CEO out there, the sole purpose of their company might just be turning a profit. Look, that’s totally understandable and perfectly legitimate. There are a million ways to hit those profit margins, and it’s up to the boss to pick whichever way they think works best. But—and this is a big but—that doesn't change the fact that they're kind of a subpar businessman if they constantly ignore feedback from partners, employees, or anyone else suggesting that they could make more money or save resources just by tweaking how they operate to add actual value. "Value added" is all the buzzword in the corporate world lately, and half the time, it doesn't even cost anything to implement.

But since we aren't sitting in an ammo factory and we're actually on a forum, talking about "quality communication" in terms of adding value feels a bit off-target. Quality communication isn't just about what you say. Respecting the person you're talking to should basically be the bedrock of any decent conversation. Being arrogant, refusing to listen, only hearing what you want to hear, or basically shooting down someone just for raising a hand to speak—none of that creates the vibe needed for actual, meaningful communication. Even offering a Mickey Mouse Band-Aid and a 'sorry' after you've essentially shot someone in the knee won't fix things. Not if you're just going to shoot them in the exact same spot tomorrow. Slapping on another Band-Aid with a different cartoon character and saying "my bad" again doesn't mean the issue is fixed. Not if the core purpose of the interaction is missing somewhere else entirely.

The whole "if you don't like it, move on"
thing is a great solution for people who truly don't care about anything. But offering that to people who actually *do* care? That's just arrogant, and honestly, it's risky. Not risky because of lost profits, but because of the sheer logic of it: if you don't want to deal with complaints, why did you set up a suggestion box right on your own front porch in the first place? If you really can't handle the feedback, maybe follow your own advice and go somewhere where there are no complaints. Or, you know, just take down the box.

Anyway, back to the point about purpose. Band-Aids don't stay on forever—not even the ones with Mickey Mouse. And Band-Aids cost money. Extra costs eat into your bottom line. On the flip side, quality communication and treating people fairly? That brings in bonuses. Since this is just my two cents on the current mood and some of the "why?" questions hanging in the air, I don't really have an answer for "what am I actually trying to achieve?" and I don't think I need one. What someone actually wants is something they have to figure out for themselves. If they want to, obviously. Arrogant or not, that's their call.
Who do I report when the admins are targeting/harassing members? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I mean, honestly? I feel like such an idiot when I have to ask for explanations on stuff that should be common sense. Like, seriously, I definitely am. Some people just love to act like they're better than everyone else though.

Anyway, thanks for getting back to me. I’m gonna go ahead and go post some more nonsense somewhere else.
Who do I report when the admins are targeting/harassing members? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, just purely from a technical standpoint—and I’m asking here because I’m genuinely curious—who do you actually go to when an admin starts getting insulting?

mellowraven22 said:This is ridiculous—you guys are back at it with the nonsense again. This issue is already settled.

Honestly, calling a perfectly reasoned debate "nonsense" and "idiotic" feels like a total insult—not even to me as a person, but to me as a member of this community.

Look, if you don't want to talk about a specific topic, there are plenty of polite ways to say that! Just say, "Hey, we aren't interested in discussing this," or "We're moving on." Anything else works fine.

But for an admin to swoop in and label everyone participating in a thread as being nonsensical and idiotic? That's just crossing the line.

I mean, back in the day, if I ever called someone an idiot, I’d get flagged immediately and my post would be nuked. Does that mean now anyone posting on this site can just call everyone an idiot? Because if that's the case, I'll happily drop my complaint right now—that would certainly make things more interesting!
