Check this link for a step-by-step breakdown on how to handle page numbering starting from the third page in Word 2007. Your specific tweak is in step 5 of the dialog box (under "Page Number formatting"): just set the Start at field to 3.

So now what?
We can't exactly play guessing games with whatever error you're seeing. Just grab a screenshot and post it, or type out the exact message so we can actually help you.
Honestly, the fastest way is to just type out the error and Google it.

Like the other guy said, you gotta use the Slide Master. If that video isn't clicking for you, here's a link with step-by-step instructions.

Timothy Howard2 said:Hey guys,

Can someone drop a link where I can download the American language pack for Microsoft Office 2007?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Google it, or check here and here.

Note:
Heads up!
If a language is available as a full localized version rather than just a language pack, you won't find it listed as a standalone interface pack. If the language you're looking for isn't listed, hit up the Office system language packs website.
Dana Diaz8 said:So basically, just dump everything from that Word file into Notepad.

Don't even bother.
You can handle all this right in Excel.
1. Convert that text into columns.
2. Use Find and Replace to turn every period into a # symbol.
3. Use Find and Replace to swap those commas for periods.
4. Use Find and Replace to turn those # symbols back into commas.

Boom. Now all your numbers are in the right number format and sitting pretty in their own columns.
(Assuming you're cool with how the decimal/separator order works in your settings.)
If things get messy, you could always convert the periods to semicolons then just do a copy/paste special-values, or just format the numbers.

You're probably stuck using Word 2003 with those old *.doc files.
If you're on Word 2007 using the *.docx format, just save it as an older version. Or, if you're stuck on Word 2003, you can actually open *.docx files if you grab the Viewer

James Rogers53 said:Is there any way I can upload this Excel sheet into Word, or have Word just grab the data from cell F12 and drop it into a specific bolded spot?

Try using Forms. Might actually solve your problem if you play it right.

neonfalcon99 said:Can anyone recommend a beginner book for Excel and Word? Where can I grab one—maybe at Best Buy? How much should I expect to pay so I don't get ripped off by $67.

Since you mentioned Best Buy, you can probably find them in any of their stores. Honestly, you can pick up basic Word and Excel books at pretty much any bookstore too.

If you just want the basics for Word and Excel online with actual examples and tutorials, check out these links (or just Google the Microsoft site)

- Excel 2003
- Excel 2007
- Word 2003
- Word 2007

The 2003 links cover the basics with examples and instructions (plus some slightly more advanced stuff), while the 2007 ones have more detailed guides on the core elements.
Hope these help you out.

jadelynx60 said:since I don't have Windows 7, I decided to just write it...

What does Windows 7 even have to do with a term paper?
A term paper can be written in Word on basically any OS that has Word (or something similar) installed.
Ashley Collins36 said:I need to compare Sheet1 and Sheet2 to find whatever differences are sitting in column B.

Since you didn't drop a download link for an example, just go check out some tutorials. I'm pretty sure you're dealing with unique values versus duplicates.
- Duplicates in Excel.
- Excel Uniques
- Unique data in Excel.

Let's say:
Column A's got all the data.
Check column B—you can also use Sheet2 if that works better.

So, you drop a formula into a cell—say, D1—and then just drag that thing down the column:
Basically, this formula checks if the value in A1 already exists somewhere in the range B1 through B100. If it finds a match, it leaves the cell blank. If there’s no match? It just spits out whatever is in A1. Simple enough.
So, here's the deal: if the value falls between B1 and B100, you want cell A1 to show up empty. If it doesn't meet that condition? Then just pull whatever's in A1.
The results we got are just the differences between two columns.
Elizabeth Howard97 said:I tried looking, but honestly, I don't see any difference between them, so whatever... Sometimes it's searching through hidden cells, and other times it isn't. Why the hell is that?

Hard to say anything for sure without actually seeing the file and digging into it. Don't want to pretend I'm some kind of psychic expert.😉

Elizabeth Howard97 said:It’s great work if I unprotect all those locked cells, but then the whole sheet protection thing becomes totally useless. Just pointless... Thanks for the help.

Since I'm already going down this rabbit hole, here’s a little extra effort to help you out if this works for you.

- How to allow sorting and filtering data within locked cells on a protected worksheet
Elizabeth Howard97 said:When you protect the Sheet, make sure to check "Sort" and "Use auto filter" (check that second pic in the link above).

Tried it! Still busted.

Well, guess I'm useless then.
Sorting and filtering on a locked worksheet works fine for me.
Elizabeth Howard97 said:Anyone know how to set a password to open an entire Workbook in Excel 2007?

- Excel protection. Check this link out—it’s got all the basics and a ton of VBA macro examples.

Elizabeth Howard97 said:Is there some kind of trick to sort data without ripping off the sheet protection?

When you're protecting the Sheet, make sure to check the boxes for "Sort" and "Use auto filter" (just look at the second pic in that link above).

Elizabeth Howard97 said:Problem 3... Anyone got a fix for this?

I don't think so. Honestly, just try hunting down a VBA macro that triggers when the Workbook opens.
jadelynx60 said:You told me to expand the task to fifty rows, now I just need to figure out how to actually pull it off.

Daniel Jackson29 said:I've got this one Microsoft Office PowerPoint 97 - 2003 slide show that's password protected and set to read-only.

PowerPoint presentation file extensions can be swapped from PPS to PPT and back again.
If that doesn't do the trick, just Google some password cracking software. There are plenty out there.
neonbadger53 said:I want any image I insert to automatically snap into the B3 to K23 range!

Look, you can totally use a VBA macro to dump images into a specific range, but there's a catch: your cell widths and heights have to be uniform for it to look right. I put together an example for you here:

- How to insert images into multiple Sheets using VBA
Larry Fox5 said:Here's a quick screenshot for anyone still scratching their heads about this.

You can't actually work on a "screenshot," man. If you're gonna go through the trouble, just upload the file for download.
When you're dealing with adding up or subtracting work hours like you are here, just use an IF function paired with VLOOKUP.
For your specific setup, toss this formula into cell D2 (just make sure "value" is set up as a named range)
Code:
=IF(ISBLANK(C2);"";VLOOKUP(C2;value;2))

Then just set up a named range for your criteria—check that "little picture" if you need a visual.

Gary Hernandez92 said:Can someone who isn't too lazy please whip up a simple Excel sheet for me? It doesn't look like much work—just four columns—but I'm a total dummy when it comes to Excel formulas.

It’s not about being "lazy." Helping out is fine, but usually, the person asking actually puts in some effort first.

The thing is, you haven't tried at all. Even if you really are a "dummy," you could've at least set up the basic table and plugged in some sample data so whoever helps you isn't wasting their own time doing your grunt work. Besides, tutorials for making a spreadsheet are all over the internet.

- Here’s a basic template since you asked.
Ashley Kern17 said:What's the easiest way to wrap my head around macro language and actually build stuff, basically VBA (Visual Basic for Applications

Look, I'm no "expert," but if you want my two cents: the best way to get VBA is just to dive in and learn by doing. Hands-on practice
is everything.
