Bradley Murphy56 said:I need to lock some cells in Excel, but leave others open for data entry. For instance, the name and surname fields should be locked,
but the cell right next to them needs to stay unlocked so I can type stuff in.

No need to lock the whole Workbook if you just want to lock specific cells on a Sheet. Check out these tutorials, follow the steps, and hit me up if you get stuck.
Casey Rogers47 said:Basically, for a thesis, you'd want page 1 to start on the 4th page, page 2 on the 5th, and so on.

Google can definitely help you out, but here are some direct links:

Brenda Barnes said:How do I add a column to Sheet1 with location names pulled straight from Sheet2? Pretty sure there’s an easy way to do this in Excel, but I'm hitting a wall finding the actual steps. Help!

Hey Brenda Barnes
Look, you're new here, so I'll let it slide this once—but seriously, next time, just attach the file with the actual data already filled in. If you want people to actually help you, don't make us play mind reader or invent your problem from scratch. Just upload the damn file.

I whipped up an example based on that issue you're having.Check the attachment.)

I’d say just use the function. VLOOKUP. In Excel.

You can just use a VLOOKUP from some other table—like your Sheet2—to pull whatever data you need based on a specific condition. Easy.

Check out the attached file—I put an example on Sheet1 (clients) using this formula.
Code:
=VLOOKUP(B2, post_broj_mjesto, 2, FALSE)

Which one’s actually gonna pull the data from that specific range on Sheet2 (those post-numbers)?

So, you want the results in column C on Sheet1. Let's say your lookup value is sitting right there in column B on Sheet1, and you're pulling data from the second column of a range named "post_broj_mjesto." Easy enough.

Check out the arguments for this Excel function. VLOOKUPLook, this named range can be on the same Sheet you're working on or tucked away on some other Sheet—doesn't matter. Just make sure it's actually there. Appointed. Data range. What do you call data ranges? Check out the link. So basically, if you type a zip code into column B on Sheet1 (say, cell B2), then cell C2 should automatically pull the parity for that zip code from a named range, right? Or am I tripping? Data range..

Hope that clears things up regarding how to use VLOOKUP and finally gives you the fix you're looking for.

[edit]
Just drag that formula down from the first row all the way to whichever last row you're looking for an answer in.
David Wilson11 said:...which doesn't help me at all.

My bad 😢
Give this formula a shot
Code:
=IF(AND(A1>=1.5,A1=1.95,A1=2.02,A1=2.06,A1pre>
Nicholas King said:Plus, I don't see how you're gonna cram "first second" into the same cell, for example.

Easy. If a value falls under the "first - second" category, just treat it as such. I already threw out a fix using VLOOKUP in my last post.
David Wilson11 said:Hopefully I didn't make things even more confusing. Fingers crossed this explanation actually makes sense this time.

Honestly? It might be easier on everyone if you just uploaded a sample file with the data already filled in—or at least cut down on all the extra text and explanations.

Just drop the raw data and show us what the end result should look like.
Check if this works for you:

Jamie Hill18 said:Alright, so how do I actually find sections?

A quick Google search usually does the trick.

- section in Word
- Example of a section in Word
Ryan Hayes82 said:how do I shrink a cell width

Cell width and height in Excel are all about the column width or the row height.
If you need more than one cell sitting in a single column, just tweak the column widths or merge the cells.

Maybe try setting up multiple print areas for each page (tbf, haven't actually tested it myself)
Peter Taylor3 said:I'm having issues with styles in Word 2007.... the second I hit , it jumps to a new line and flips the style on me automatically...

I don't see why you'd need to make a whole new style when you can just tweak the ones you already have. Obviously, hitting changes things because you're starting a fresh paragraph. Check out these quick tutorials—maybe they'll help you fix whatever's going on.

Melissa Hayes41 said:I said I know how to use regular PowerPoint, maybe read closer.

Look, I read your post just fine. I'm asking what you mean by "regular" vs "special" PowerPoint—what else is there?
There's a huge difference between just clicking through slides and actually knowing how to build a presentation, which is why I dropped the link.

My bad if I offended you, didn't mean to.

Melissa Hayes41 said:I want to learn how to use the special PowerPoint or whatever it is. Thanks.

Like you said in your own post, that person mentioned they made the presentation in "Flash," which isn't even PowerPoint.

If you actually want to learn Flash, check these links out. They should help.

Amanda Barnes7 said:How do I print 4 small pages on a single sheet of paper?

Like Walter Jackson48 said, and also... GoogleAnd here you go, picture this:

- Printing in Word.

Same deal in Word 2007: just hit Print, then pick your Pages per Sheet in the dialog box.
stormycanyon13 said:Not sure if this has been asked already—this thread is like a hundred pages deep—but I’m running into an issue.

It’s wild how much you can dig up just by using Google. Google We can definitely cut down that wait time if we want to.

- Splitting Excel windows.

Bet you spent an eternity digging through hundreds of pages of this thread to find that. 😉

Check your Windows OS and Word settings.

Kyle Johnson2 said:You sure about that? What happens when someone double-clicks some other cell?

...............
When I double-click, it just lets me type normally because nothing's been set up to tell it otherwise.

And this GREAT option would solve my problem perfectly, but I can't even run it without Macros and "view code."

I think you're only looking at it that way because you haven't actually tried the Macro yet.
Yeah, you're right that double-clicking usually lets you edit a cell, but if you use this Macro, that won't happen anymore. If you had read the tutorial a bit more closely, you’d see that double-clicking any cell on Sheet1 just copies the data to the exact same spot on Sheet2.

There might be some more advanced Macro out there that does a partial copy from source to destination, but I haven't dug into that.

As for why you can't access the VBA... man, I have no clue.
Later.
Amy Gray52 said:I know my way around Excel enough to write long formulas
but I don't have a clue about Macros

You were looking for a way to bump up some numbers. So, here's a Macro for you.

If you want to see how to handle seniority calculations, check out the tutorial and grab the attached file. You can use the TODAY()
function in column B.

Gerald Barnes said:So you're saying it's probably just that "double-click to copy" cell option...?

You sure about that? What happens when a user double-clicks some other random cell?
Maybe look into a more advanced VBA Macro to tighten things up and cut down on errors.
Gerald Barnes said:...wait, what?

Same here, honestly. 😉
