Monitor buying guide (mega-thread) in Computer Peripherals ·
I’m honestly not an expert by any means, so I’m coming to you guys for some help picking out a monitor. I’m looking for a 32-inch 4K beast with a 144Hz refresh rate—something that can actually keep up with my RTX 4090. It needs to be G-sync compatible, obviously, and I really care about color accuracy too. My budget is capped at $3.75, and I need to be able to pick it up here in the States.

I was falling down a rabbit hole online and stumbled upon this Samsung model, so now I’m wondering if it’s actually any good or if it supports G-sync. Or, better yet, does anyone have a better suggestion that won't break the bank?

Kevin Chavez3 said:because they were suggesting some stupid live album. Honestly, if they had just dropped "Eaten Back to Life," it would have absolutely crushed it.

I don't buy it—even that album wouldn't have saved them. It’s obvious people just aren't feeling this kind of music during the summer, and honestly, they probably aren't feeling it any other time of year either.😁

Wayne's world 1 and part 2—there is absolutely no way I'm catching those on PBS, they're still stuck in the dark ages over there playing cowboys and Indians.😛

I'm looking at picking up a new monitor—most likely the Dell UltraSharp 27—so I can finally see
how games actually perform at 1440p. If everything runs smooth, I’ll probably just grab an RTX 3080 to match. Honestly, I still feel
like there's no point in cutting corners if you're actually trying to build a legitimate high-end PC. Personally, I'd go with the
more expensive route just to make sure all the components have
enough kick to handle it.

Timothy Kim60 said:I just ran the numbers—same exact specs, shopping at the same Micro Center—and if you were building this from scratch (especially since you get free assembly anyway), it would cost about 11 $67 (though I swapped in different RAM and a 212X). Basically, you paid full price for those games, even if you think you got them through some random bundle deal.

You should've gone with a cheaper motherboard, then used that extra cash to grab a better SSD (like a Samsung 850) or maybe just a cheaper one to save money, grabbed 8GB of RAM, a Define R4 or a Define S (something better than $200), and if you really want high-end, just stick to the 550W power supply version. As for the GPU, either wait for the 480 or just grab a GTX 1070.

So, if I'm reading you right, you'd rather have a cheaper motherboard, a cheap case, and a weaker
power supply. Look, if that's what I wanted, I could've bought a budget rig. I
specifically wanted a high-end machine with premium components. In my opinion, the only
thing they messed up was the game situation—I didn't get anything "for free," I
paid for everything outright.

So here’s the rig I dropped $4083 on, plus they threw in 4 free games worth about $300

I was thinking maybe an RTX 3070 would fit in here—or honestly, even better, a GTX 1080—but I don't know if I should be swapping out other parts too
assuming they'd even let me trade stuff around like that?

I can't just sit around waiting for a new card to drop—I already pulled the trigger on a pre-built
setup, so now I'm stuck deciding between these two GPUs. Honestly, I just need to know
which one actually holds up better?
