Is that right?
I can’t quite pinpoint when things started going south, but it’s intense—always right on the edge of some kind of disaster.
One time, one flew right into my face mid-shift... I mean, forget professionalism, I just bailed before they could even shoo it away.
Then I spent the rest of the day twitching because every little shift in the shadows was sending me into a total panic.
And god, they are hideous. Just plain ugly.
At this rate, it’s turning into this frantic, mindless waving of arms at regular butterflies too.
Initially, people thought I was being ridiculous, but then they realized I wasn't kidding around—you can probably tell by the way I look, the heavy smoking, the wide eyes... honestly, there's no way I'm staying functional while some specimen is hovering nearby. So now they actually keep them away from me.
But then everyone else loses their minds and it turns into a complete circus.
I honestly think it’s incredibly hard for people close to you not to have doubts when they see someone with just a few years under their belt and a handful of failed attempts at getting things right.
I mean, let’s be real—there’s a massive chance they’ve spent years listening to endless stories about what actual professionals look like, how mature decisions should be made, or how precise everything needs to be...
No, I’m not out here chasing a quick buck.
How would I even know where you’re hiding the goods?
Man, it’s like my old man is just charging straight at me through his green light and my red one.
I don't know, I keep playing these scenarios over in my head and... honestly, it gives me the chills.
Look, I know there are plenty of people here who actually know what they're talking about, but here’s my two cents based on a couple of cases I've seen
Case one:
She’s highly educated, but she spent five years chasing a high. Ended up catching hepatitis, hit a wall, and now she’s stuck dealing with liver issues.
Now she swears she’s totally over it—and honestly, everything points to that being true. She’s gone all "spiritual," looking for deeper meaning through queer relationships, practicing abstinence, finding herself through alternative lifestyles, some kind of rebirth, blah blah blah.
Every few months, she needs some new "eternal truth" to cling to. She hasn't even renounced the easy drugs; she doesn't regret her past because she considers it just another facet of her "truth."
Then there’s him:
Barely finished high school, dropped out after a couple of years, a criminal record, a stint in prison, hepatitis, and he's on methadone. He’s living in a recovery community right now, but he’s itching to get back out into the world because he thinks he’s "healthy" enough.
Both of them:
They’re burnt out and moving at a snail's pace. I’d love to say things turn around for people like them, but...
In NYC, the water tastes totally flat even when I pray to the Holy Spirit for some flavor, so I just buy bottled.
When I was living in ZD, I used to buy water constantly because it’s hands down the worst stuff I've ever tasted.
Over in ST, though, it's actually decent... maybe it's just habit, but it's freezing cold—if you let it run for a second, you'll be shivering.😁
At work, I usually just grab some Mississippi from those big American vending machines.😎
Oh, and lately, we've been filling up jugs with water from Zvečaj at his grandma's place. Mmmm, so good.👍
none of those instant or pre-ground cheapo blends count
In the morning, I’m all about a strong drip coffee
At work, people always come up with these pathetic excuses just to grab a latte
If I’m home in the afternoon, I’ll treat myself to a dark roast
Then by evening, it’s an espresso with milk
I wasn't always this picky; it was a slow burn, mostly because life in NYC and the grind of my job totally broke me
I've got my donor card on me
I’ve actually got this one specific hang-up when it comes to Jim Jarmusch. I went to college in a city like Portland, which was basically crawling with alternative types and hipsters (and let’s be real, most of those people are just the latter), so the "alt" crowd would lose their minds whenever his name even came up. It created this weird, built-in aversion for me.
Maybe that's why I didn't exactly love the film—it might be a bit of a side effect from that. As for the exact reason? Honestly, I'll have to figure that out once I sit through it again. I'm working my way through his filmography, excluding A. I., so this one is next on the list. There you go.
I’ve had "reactive" knees since I was practically a kid. There’s an old legend floating around my family about how even as a toddler, I’d look up and go, "A taaataaa, how does my knee already know it’s gonna rain?"
Being a true Southern belle, I can't stand the humid south winds or those heavy gusts that kick up right before the weather turns sour😁
I didn't become a total weather obsessive until the folks over at CNN decided they needed to sell emojis and sad faces for every single news segment involving a map of the US on TV. Contradiction in terms, huh?
👋
It’s just not happening for me.
It’s been five days and the scale hasn't budged an inch, but honestly, I haven't even touched my treadmill and I'm not being hard on myself—I mean, let's face it, I've got my fair share of sins🙂.
I’m basically blaming the pills; I feel like they’re the reason I gained all this weight in the first place😁.
Oh, wait, it’s not all bad news. This chili recipe is actually delicious, and it seems to be keeping my digestion on track (I could practically set my watch by it)—so overall, it’s not a total disaster😉
Yesterday, my mom and I spent the whole day just cooking and eating our way through everything. We made all the usual dishes, but the real star was definitely the chicken noodle soup.
I gotta say, the flavor was spot on. It’s got that sautéed cabbage vibe going on—it almost makes me want to toss in some horseradish or maybe a spicy sausage just to kick things up a notch.
The only issue is the old folks have absolutely fallen in love with it. If they keep asking for this, we're gonna be stuck chopping veggies and cooking until we drop just to keep them fed.😁
Good luck to everyone out there, including myself.🙂
I wouldn't waste my time trying to hit 7—I’d settle for a 2 if I'm being honest!
The thing is, when I actually commit to a specific "regimen," it's way easier to stick to it. Just winging it and making up random rules on the fly? Not my style.
And honestly, it sounds pretty unhealthy (don't quote me on that "healthy" part, though).
But hey, hope dies last, right?😁
👋
Is this whole "loop" thing supposed to be red or white? I honestly have no clue what kind of "loop" we're even talking about here...
Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.
David Davis15 said:By the way, one of my all-time favorite interviews was this one with an ER doctor where they asked: "So, you work in the ER... what kind of character are you playing?" 😁 🙏
Man, then there was that one time someone was sitting on a panel talking about drug harm reduction and they just dropped:
"sooo, when exactly is the best time 4 kids 2 start smoking weed?"
David Davis15 said:You should also check out his sketches where he plays Borat, that bumbling reporter from Kazakhstan. That's hilarious!
😂 😂 😂
Borat 👍
His movies? Honestly, they’re pretty mid. But those interviews... man, they’re gold.
I was watching Viva the other day and saw him grilling this former US General, basically suggesting they should drop a nuke on Canada and just bank on the element of surprise. I mean, seriously, given all the recent American military interventions lately?
That said, his sense of humor isn't shallow at all; he’s constantly dropping these subtle digs and leaning hard into really sensitive topics.
My gut feeling is that he’s just not a filmmaker—his real talent lies in a completely different medium.
