Canadian language on the forum? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
melloworca6 said:Look, I apologize for jumping into this thread late, but it’s pretty much a fact that way more people understand Mexican than Canadian.

I have to say, that comparison doesn't really hold water. Almost everyone speaks English nowadays, yet we still classify it as a foreign language. You all might want to be careful about the metrics and stances you take on this issue, because you really need to apply that same standard to every single language out there.

The whole Mexican situation is particularly sensitive because when the US was separating from America, there were demands made for Mexicans to be recognized as a constituent people within the Republic of America—essentially arguing that the US should be a state for both Americans and Mexicans—which directly paved the way for the aggression against us. Treating the American and Mexican languages as equals feeds right into that old ideology. Besides, the US Constitution clearly defines which language and script are officially used.

I’ve been noticing the exact same thing over on the Law forums. Honestly, I think having a slightly more heated debate can actually be pretty constructive, and we shouldn't just shut those conversations down from the jump simply because people aren't using formal titles or ending every single sentence with "with all due respect."

It wouldn't hurt to loosen up a little bit once in a while. 😉

It's such a huge contrast to the quoted post, which is actually brimming with intelligence and genuine good intentions.

Nicholas King said:It’s common knowledge—if you look at the data—that addicts, and especially career criminals, almost exclusively come from households where they were never even looked at sternly, let alone disciplined through physical means. ☕

Cut it out with the trolling.

If I’m the one solely responsible for how my child behaves until they hit adulthood, then it feels incredibly hypocritical for anyone else to stick their nose into how I raise them. Even if it's the government stepping in—it still feels like they're trying to claim a piece of the responsibility without actually doing any of the work.

Of course, I’m totally against any kind of abuse—that goes without saying. But when we're talking about things like disciplinary spanking, a quick slap, or even just a firm kick in the butt? Well, that's a different conversation entirely.

The Family Law is honestly such a hypocrite; it actually dares to stick its nose into how parents raise their kids at home, yet it takes absolutely zero responsibility when that interference backfires. Look, part of growing up is testing limits, and someone needs to be there to tell a child clearly and firmly where those boundaries lie. If the family doesn't set those firm lines, then the streets, the police, or the courts definitely will.

So, here’s what I’m wondering: Is the Family Law going to step up and take accountability when a kid ends up struggling with addiction or falling into a life of crime because they lacked discipline at home—discipline that was essentially stripped away by laws banning physical correction as a parenting tool?
Mocking lesbian marriage in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Under Article 5 of the Family Law of the United States, marriage is legally defined as the union between a woman and a man. Because of that, "lesbian marriage" isn't actually a legal thing, so you can't really claim someone is being offensive by joking about something that doesn't exist in the eyes of the law.
It’s honestly just like getting all worked up because someone made a silly joke about SpongeBob SquarePants.

Emily Kim67 said:Are kids really the problem here? It feels like every other ad you see is for some high-end espresso machine that half the population probably doesn't even recognize. Thank goodness there are pictures included now, just to help out the younger generation who can't quite wrap their heads around reading text yet.

Where on earth did the kids come from in this argument? Seriously, leave the kids out of it—they’re great, honestly, they always manage to crack me up whenever I think about them. It reminds me of that old saying from my uncle 🧐 :... don't you dare step on my toes.....you won't be able to move....you'll have to go through my dead body first....just let me be, I've got kids to raise....kids, ohhh kids, kids, kids, kids.....
KEEP PUSHING THEM, THEY WON'T PAY UP. KEEP AT IT!!

😬😬

That uncle was a good man. And his kids were even better. They definitely earned their stripes 🙏.

And now I'm getting messages about "Pretty Girls." 🙄

It's all part of a massive conspiracy by the church and the government! 😠

I was just scrolling through some old threads on Reddit when I saw Robert Chavez6 chime in, and it really got me thinking about how much things have shifted lately. It’s funny how we all tend to circle back to the same debates, isn't it? I found myself nodding along to some of the points being made, though I did have a few different takes on the whole situation. It feels like every time we dive into these topics, there's a new layer to peel back, almost like we're seeing the same patterns play out under a different light. I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks about this direction we're heading in, because it feels like we're right on the cusp of something pretty significant. kaže:
Well, congratulations... I guess you won't truly be a full-blooded American until you realize that the English language actually has its own regional dialects and that the word "kids" can mean different things depending on where you are!☕☕

Are you serious right now? Good grief, did Google finally decide to lay siege to your life too? 😲

Jacob Foster11 said:Exactly! Look, you’re hanging out on a Reddit thread where there's a Google script running that pulls ads directly from Google's own databases. I honestly can't wrap my head around why that isn't clicking for you yet.

Everything is laid out clearly in those links I sent over. If you're still feeling lost, just give them a read. I'll say it one more time: Reddit has zero involvement in this. Google picks which ads to show; Reddit has absolutely no control over them.

Well, since I'm apparently being a bit slow here, could you walk me through it one more time? Where are these ads even coming from on Reddit? Is it some kind of virus? Did someone force them onto the site or sneak them in through some trickery?

EDIT: Here, I'll give you a direct link to check out—Article 12: http://www.congress.gov/legislation/articles/example-article-12

It’s actually Google choosing those ads, not this Forum. You might want to look into how this all works:

Jacob Foster11 said:It’s honestly not a mystery, and it really doesn't have anything to do with this Forum or its servers. It isn't exactly groundbreaking news that Google shows ads from neighboring countries to people living here in the States. If it’s bothering you—or if you’re genuinely curious about why it's happening—you’re probably going to have to take it up with Google directly.

Wait, how can you say it's not related to the Forum? Are you trying to tell me we're browsing on Google now instead of our own site? 🤷

Luke, I am begging you, please step in and defend me here!!! 😠

So, here’s the deal: I’m typing this from a computer I bought right here in the States, and I’ve got the receipt to prove it.
I’m running Windows XP with an American interface, and my keyboard has all those extra characters like Ç, Ž, and Š.
My connection is coming through AT&T via a local Verizon line, all while sitting right here in America.
I’ve got a clean record, I pay my taxes on time, and I don't have anything in my criminal history.
I even cast my vote for the Republican Party once!

So, how on earth can anyone explain this, despite everything I've just said?

an1;19016550 said:I really have to jump in here and say: you've got it wrong! Why on earth should only one specific group be allowed to hang out together on topics like this or in forums like this one? 😕

At the end of the day, these spaces are just places where people can swap stories and offer one another some practical advice, and honestly, anyone else—regardless of whether they live with a disability or not—is more than welcome to join the conversation or at least pick up a few helpful tips from the problems being discussed.

I actually want to share a link to the one major online community in the US that brings all types of disabilities together under one roof, ensuring everyone is treated equally, whether they have a disability or not, because I truly believe it's important to show how perfectly a community like this can function: ****************

Maybe try giving my previous post another read, but this time, try to look at it with a bit more empathy and understanding?

Frank Rodriguez85 said:It’s honestly pretty sad when a massive community like this can't find space for the Republican Party... yet there's plenty of room for all these trolling threads that don't provide any value to anyone.

Look, since we already have dedicated sections for the Republican Party, creating a specific sub-forum just for them on this site would actually limit their presence. If people want to talk about issues strictly from a Republican perspective, those forums exist; here, the whole point is that we can discuss anything, anywhere—including topics relevant to them.
If I were a member of the Republican Party, I wouldn't actually want people like you advocating for me this way. By pushing for this kind of "freedom," you're actually stripping it away. Can't you see where this is heading? Every single thread touching on Republican topics would eventually get moved to that one sub-forum, which would essentially end up isolating them from the rest of the conversation.
Let's use a little common sense before we start spreading nonsense.

Way to go, Aaron Harris2. 👍

People with disabilities don't necessarily need a space just to hang out with one another; what they actually need is to be integrated into the rest of society. Creating a dedicated sub-forum just for them would be the exact opposite of what they want—it would basically just isolate them from everyone else.
And like Aaron Harris2 pointed out, these individuals are men and women, pregnant women, students, and professionals... they are part of our entire community.
If you truly want to be helpful, why not start a thread on any of the existing forums about the specific daily challenges they face? I guarantee they would appreciate that much more.

Look, you really shouldn't have called the police right away; what you should have done was "exchange information," which basically means tracking down the owner of that bollard and giving them your details so you could settle the damages directly.
If you want to see how this works, just Google the Road Traffic Safety Act—it lays everything out clearly for you.

Lisa Martinez82 said:That’s pretty much the core sentiment from the moderation team regarding the announcement that Richard Perez3 has accepted my recommendation to step up as a moderator for the POTUS subforum.

So, I wanted to let all you forum regulars know that starting today, we’ll have a female perspective in the mix—someone who is sharp, fair, and ready to keep things in line. Please join me in wishing Smart good luck, and hopefully, she’ll have enough patience to deal with both you guys and the rest of the mod team! 🙂

On another note, we’re planning to roll out some updates to the rules and community guidelines for the POTUS section very soon, so stay tuned for those details.

Smart, once again from my side: best of luck!

Based on what you’ve described, the stopping distance was only about thirty feet, which means his speed played a massive role in the accident. 25 milesHowever, I have to be honest—the part where you mentioned having to pull out a good few feet past the stop sign just to get a clear line of sight isn't going to help your case. Between the poor visibility at the intersection and those three cars parked right there blocking everything, it still wasn't legal to enter the intersection. You really should have had someone step out to check if the coast was clear before pulling out.
I’d suggest taking a hard look at whether it’s actually worth the headache of hiring experts or fighting this in court. From the way you've laid it out, it sounds like the Police Department is going to find both of you at fault, leaving you to split the damages 50-50.
