Discussion regarding ADHD.

Quark said:Back in my day, you’d get a couple of swats with a belt and nobody ever used fancy labels like that. Nowadays, we’ve become so soft, coddling kids so they don't get a scratch, and now we're stuck dealing with the fallout. I have two "energetic" ones at home; when they cross the line, they get a firm hand, and they're peaceful for a month.

Charles Fox10 said:ADHD my ass. It’s just what happens when parents are complete idiots. If they actually pulled their weight once in a while, you’d see how much better things would be.

glora's bastard said:I’m mainly wondering if the rule that rustydrifter10 posted over on RiD applies here as well:

On this forum, inciting or justifying illegal acts is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, Family Law (Article 88) clearly states: "Parents and other family members shall not subject a child to humiliating treatment, mental or physical violence, or abuse."

Discussing violence is permitted, as it is the best way we have to attempt to eradicate it from society. Mutual support, advice, and recommendations can serve as effective catalysts for stopping such practices. However, any incitement to commit violence or the glorification of violent disciplinary methods will be sanctioned.

To which Charles Fox10 replied that it pretty much does apply.

Yes, the very same individual who was just advocating for being absolute losers.

Just saying.

Advocating for pedophiles??? Maybe try actually reading the whole discussion before you go labeling someone—even in your head—as a child abuser.

Nowhere in this thread does anyone support any kind of physical abuse against children. A little reading comprehension wouldn't hurt.

Under American Family Law, any form of "disciplinary" physical striking against children is strictly prohibited, and according to IMF standards, inciting or even justifying actions that break the law is just as forbidden.

I’d argue that terms like "frnjokula" or "pešćurina" function as types of strikes themselves.

I didn't label you a child abuser; I simply pointed out that you are encouraging physical punishment that is illegal under our laws.

Oh, absolutely. And now you’ve gone ahead and branded me an enabler of child abuse.

If you honestly believe that any form of corporal punishment qualifies as abuse, then I find it quite baffling that you resort to hitting your own children, encourage others to do the same, and refuse to sanction such behavior.

But you don't actually subscribe to the idea that all physical discipline is abuse. Neither do I. What you seem to be missing, however, is that any form of physical punishment is strictly prohibited by law in this country. Any form at all. We aren't just talking about aggravated assault or breaking bones here; even a single slap to a child is illegal under our statutes. As a moderator, it is your responsibility to ensure that your subforum doesn't become a breeding ground for promoting actions that violate the law regarding minors. I am well aware that MK is essentially a sanctuary for overindulged, spoiled brats who throw tantrums on the floor the moment they hear the word "no," and that you tend to tolerate things there that wouldn't fly anywhere else. But we are discussing children now, and I believe it is high time you set some boundaries.

This is the third consecutive post where you've insulted me by labeling me a "child abuser." It’s neither polite nor accurate.

Or perhaps you've just clumsily misspoken for the third time.

Try reading this thread from the beginning. You'll see the core issue here is hyperactivity in certain children. Many users argue—without any medical backing—that this behavior stems from poor parenting rather than any advocacy for physical punishment or child abuse.

Charles Fox10, Linda Price5 is absolutely right here.
Maybe you should let Vojky, Katrin, or Megan Ruiz13 explain the potential legal fallout from what you're saying—both for you personally and for the owner of the forum you moderate.
Linda Price5 was actually trying to make a point, but you just keep twisting her words from one thread to the next—kind of like some--heh--neighborhood tough guy just looking for an excuse to start a fight.

We went over all of this in our discussion, so just a heads-up that some posts are going to be deleted tomorrow, and the mods should be posting an official warning about it shortly.

All of this sounds lovely in theory, but it’s frankly insufficient.

A moderator who fails to grasp that calling someone a "scumbag" constitutes verbal aggression—and that physical violence is strictly prohibited, while not all forms of hostility equate to abuse—could certainly improve their rather precarious standing on this specific thread by offering an apology.

There are far too many reasons to apologize, but the most glaring one is that a little bit of reading comprehension wouldn't hurt, a suggestion that is frequently ignored by the average user on these boards.

Otherwise (if there's no apology and no disciplinary action), it looks as though we are operating under the logic of "just delete it and pretend nothing happened"—which is the perfect breeding ground for those endless PŽK-Topica threads where people cry, "Oh, so you'll ban me, but when a moderator was openly advocating for the physical punishment of children over there, you just deleted the post, didn't you? Huh? Really?"

The worst part is, the author of such a thread would actually be right.

So, up until now, MK has basically turned a blind eye to chauvinism, racism, and all sorts of other nonsense. But the second people start talking about raising kids? Suddenly, all these self-righteous moralists pop out of nowhere. 🙄

Hypocrisy at its finest... 🙄

Actually, it would be the height of hypocrisy if he somehow managed to prove that those self-appointed moral guardians 🙂actually tolerated chauvinism and everything else on that list.

Correction. I’m talking about rustydrifter10. Since she’s an admin, she basically let MK act like a PDF that was "above the law" until yesterday.

Honestly, we might as well just shut this whole forum down right now, because the second people actually start having a real conversation or debating anything, someone inevitably says something that doesn't align perfectly with their delicate sensibilities and ends up hurting their little feelings.

And since we love nothing more than weaponizing the law whenever it suits our specific narrative, it’s worth noting that the Supreme Court has already weighed in on how parents have the right to discipline their children, including physical discipline, when it's appropriate.
But of course, we all know better than the highest court in the land, because clearly our kids are all perfectly behaved and enlightened, raised by their incredibly brilliant, well-read, and sophisticated parents.

You’re overreacting.

It’s the classic move: forcing one opinion on everyone while censoring anything else.
You’re attacking someone just because they voiced their own view.

Physical punishment as a disciplinary tool has been around since the dawn of time. It existed then, it exists now, and it isn't going away just because we refuse to talk about it.

Is it really off-limits to debate which method was more effective or functional?

If that isn't undemocratic, I don't know what is...

I've read all the posts—I even shared my own take—and I've gone through Charles Fox10's comments too. I don't see anyone calling for violence here. He's talking about disciplinary measures...

There’s a massive difference between an abuser who beats their kids or spouse to vent frustration because they can't handle parenting, and someone who just raises their voice or gives a naughty kid a quick swat on the backside.

Like I said, nobody wrote anything suggesting anyone should be abused or attacked. 🤷

You guys are ganging up on him for nothing.

Jezušek što... 😲

What is this...?

Either a moment of catharsis or just plain old nostalgia for the way things used to be. And how they used to function... 🤷

By the way, this forum should be open to everything, including the controversial stuff... like corporal punishment.

It’s basically going to turn into lemonade...

Really? Everything? Even advocating for illegal activities (or whatever the legal jargon calls it these days) within those topics?

I’m not just talking about physical punishment for children here; I mean other actions that are strictly prohibited by law.
