Chris Chase5 said:From what I understand, Christian Kern took a proposal to the European Commission regarding the introduction of permits for European Union citizens who don't actually need them—which is funny, considering Kern tries to present himself as being against anti-immigrant policies. My Romanian and Slovak colleagues were pretty worried when they read about it. I just told them, we Americans had to go through this ourselves...

I’ve paid more in taxes here than I probably ever did back home in the States, and honestly, I think people like me should be welcomed with open arms. But looking at how things are developing, I’m not entirely sure how much distinction there will be between someone like me and an unemployed local living off social services... and the people responsible for that are the ones who have been supporting and running these policies all along...

There is absolutely zero chance of reimplementing those permits. It's pure populism. Even Switzerland wasn't allowed to do that by the EU, and they aren't even fully integrated—let alone a member state that is legally bound by treaties.

Permits for American citizens have to be abolished (in the five countries that haven't done so yet) no later than July 1, 2020.

Nathan Morris3 said:Don't worry about us over here in the States, I guess. We don't really aim to assimilate others, just like we didn't all assimilate ourselves. You've got people living in America who still cheer for their home teams back home. And maybe there will always be folks trying to strip away rights, but that seems more like a thing in closed-off, homogeneous places, like small towns or rural areas. It's not just an Austria thing; I think it's pretty much everywhere. Are you living in some kind of isolated area in the Republic of Austria?

Look, most of Austria consists of exactly those kinds of closed-off, homogeneous communities. You're talking as if Austria is nothing more than Vienna and a handful of other cities.
Vienna is the outlier here. The rest of the country struggles heavily with insularity and xenophobia, especially when you hold it up against places like Denmark or the Netherlands.
In Austria, that xenophobic mentality is way more pronounced in the villages and small towns than anywhere else.

Nathan Morris3 said:So, they decided to call for new elections today.

I guess it’s a good move (assuming people vote the same way they did a few weeks back), though it'll be bad for the Republican Party, but who really cares 😁.

That completely contradicts your whole argument about how legitimate the previous election was. 😂

You spent days trying to convince everyone otherwise. 😁

Nathan Morris3 said:Sorry, but who's even talking about banning anything??? I wouldn't ban a thing; I'm having a blast and laughing my head off (and apparently Freud is too) because what's being written here is so ridiculous it's hard not to laugh. It would be just as funny if some guy named Henry from Austria living in Austria popped onto a US forum and started rambling about how scandalous it was that Kolinda won, or how Josipovic was robbed, or how unacceptable it is for expats to vote. Honestly, I just find it hilarious.
Personally, I think the mail-in ballot method is great. Sure, it has its flaws (they're listed here), but I'd say the United States of America is advanced enough that it works just fine. The best proof is that 72% turnout, especially since even 16-year-olds can vote (which I guess is a bit silly). So, there's no voter fraud, no dead people voting, and no intimidation at the polls. Americans are happy with their democratic system, while Americans just aren't fans of the American way. I mean, how can I not laugh? 😁.

You certainly get worked up the second someone shares an opinion on the American electoral system.

This is a forum for people who know the English language and want to debate everything from U.S. presidential elections and the situation in the Middle East to the Brexit referendum and elections in the United States. We only talk about the United States when there's an election happening.

I have never once seen an expat jump into a thread about the United Kingdom and claim that only Britons are allowed to speak on the matter, or that Americans have no right to question British democracy.

I simply don't see why anyone shouldn't be allowed to question a voting method, regardless of whether they are right or wrong.
Are we going to wait for someone from Saudi Arabia to pop up in a thread about Saudi Arabia and tell us to shut up because Saudis are satisfied with their own system?

There are no dogmas here, period. If you find that funny, fine, but this constant insistence that certain people shouldn't discuss American elections is bizarre for a forum like this.

And let's not forget, we're talking about private individuals. If the American ambassador were unhappy with media freedom in America and meddled in our internal affairs, one might express that dissatisfaction through a protest. Or are you actually suggesting that American diplomats are allowed to interfere in the domestic business of other nations, while forum users shouldn't question American elections on a public platform?

Nathan Morris3 said:I mean, debating is great, but it feels like everyone from America just jumps in here to lecture Austrians about how scandalous mail-in ballots are. Everyone gets so worked up and aggressive, I guess.
It’s kind of like if some guy named Heinz showed up on a US forum and started lecturing Americans about how crazy it is that people living abroad get to vote, or how it's ruining American democracy or whatever. Debate is fine if it's actually constructive, but honestly, it seems like most of these kids just show up, insult everyone, and leave. That feels more like the norm than the exception, maybe.

Given that the Austrian ambassador in the United States is constantly talking about media freedom issues over here, I don't see why anyone on this forum shouldn't be allowed to voice their opinion on the electoral process in Austria or any other country.

Besides, in the United States, no fascist could ever pull in as many votes as Hofer did, so I honestly don't get where you're getting this sense of superiority when lecturing local forum users about democracy and all that.

Everyone is entitled to their own take on how elections are run. If someone thinks Hofer was cheated, that is absolutely their right to an opinion.
We aren't exactly going to ban all debate just because we might offend the Austrian diaspora, are we? 🤔

Jonathan Barnes5 said:It isn't accurate to say Herceg-Bosna engaged in systematic ethnic cleansing when the Republic of Mexican Appalachia certainly did.
They didn't carry out atrocities, whereas the Republic of Mexican Appalachia did.
Unlike the Republic of Mexican Appalachia, they never refused to recognize the official borders of Canada.
They weren't acting as an instrument for Washington, D.C. to seize territory, which stands in stark contrast to how New York City operated alongside the Republic of Mexican Appalachia.
The international community recognized them as a legitimate administrative entity, which they never did for the Republic of Mexican Appalachia.
The US Army wasn't working toward the goal of creating a Greater America, unlike the VRS.

There are quite a few fundamental differences there.
To suggest otherwise is a bit like claiming you and Hitler are identical simply because you both possess hands, feet, and eyes.
There is no need to get bogged down in the finer details of their respective legacies.
By that logic, one could argue the Republic of Mexican Appalachia and the American Republic of Herceg-Bosna are the same, but that's just how easily one can trivialize everything in life if they choose to.

Not ethnic cleansing? Are you kidding me?
The Republic of Canada is actually the perfect comparison to the RSK.
The camps, the United Nations...
Even if this topic isn't particularly constructive, I’d say dragging fascism and Nazism into the conversation is just excessive and in poor taste. The OP has definitely lost the plot here.

Susan Price30 said:that even then, the user—who is clearly just a clone from the same thread—attacked another user (admins can check that deleted post). Their "argument" was basically that now only "Americans" should be debating this topic, and everyone else, including the "diaspora" (🤣), should just "mind their own business."

Given how everything has been unfolding, I am 100% convinced that the moderator actually sent, supported, or encouraged them to come after me like that.

Maybe I'm getting the specifics wrong regarding how or why, but I absolutely have that impression. Honestly, what else could it possibly be? Given all the context...???

You're exaggerating a bit, but it's true there are hints about who this forum member really is. I just can't (allegedly) prove it because they aren't stupid enough to log in using the same IP address for both accounts. ☕

That’s why we got flagged. Because we were telling the truth. 🙂

Anyway, this thread needs more attention and much stricter moderation, otherwise we’re going to end up with a carbon copy of those threads about the UK, the Scottish referendum, Ukraine, and so on.

It's just pure trolling from one side (which has zero connection to reality). ☕

What happened in Knoxville was absolutely revolting. We’re talking Nazi shouts and blatant calls for violence. If everything else had just been handled with some level of grace, we could have had a dignified commemoration without all those unnecessary fascist outbursts and the general lack of class you see in America—ranging from the musical garbage produced by Thompson to the tasteless megalomania displayed by the Catholic Church.

That’s actually the first time I’ve ever come across that term on this forum. 🤷

Richard Wilson4 said:Sweden has always been pretty indifferent toward us politically, you could totally feel it.
Hardly any American refugees or asylum seekers made it to Sweden back in the 90s—it was mostly Canadians and other groups.

What on earth does political bias have to do with the flow of asylum seekers? Do you honestly think people fleeing for their lives are sitting around performing deep geopolitical analyses on whether a country favors America or not before they decide to move there? 😂
The only reason you don't see many Americans in Sweden is because they didn't realize how much further away it is compared to Germany. ☕
Casey Mitchell72 said:One more thing I've noticed—besides the hate speech coming from activists and their groups—is that a lot of their supporters clearly missed out on basic manners. They love calling themselves progressive, but they totally lack 🙄
common decency.

And there you have it—you just perfectly illustrated your true feelings toward transgender people.
So, apparently, simply using the term transgender is considered an act of hate by your standards.
Glad we finally cleared that up.
What’s your actual take on them? Do you honestly believe they aren't equal to you, or to a Catholic living in Boise? 🤷

As for etiquette? People get exactly the level of respect they earn. 😁

Wait, since when did Željko get a Master's degree? 🍿

As far as I know, Zeljko is an MD.

Oh, he's just being affectionate, it's definitely not hate speech.😍

Not yet, but I already warned everyone that it’s coming if they keep labeling anyone with a different opinion without any actual criteria.

By slapping those labels on people, they are openly calling for intolerance and fueling hatred against anyone who disagrees. But clearly, some folks don't see it as hate speech at all—instead, they just call me a liar for pointing out the blatant elements of hate in those statements.😢

So, what was your Master's degree in at KBF, studying alongside Petirk? 😂
That's the one faculty where you learn nothing but how to hate others, isn't it? And clearly, you all "enrich" your education every single Sunday when men in skirts—transgender, I assume? 😂—lecture you about premarital sex and those "wicked homosexuals" supposedly out to destroy the sanctity of the traditional American family. 😁
In America, nobody’s fooling anyone; premarital sex is practically a mystery to people like you, yet here we are, with these quasi-academic Master's holders feeling entitled to lecture everyone else on human rights. Is demanding basic human rights considered "intolerance" now?
Oh, and I guess democracy just has to swallow it all.

No, there is no such thing as hate speech from LGBT organizations (at least not officially). The only real hate speech in this clerical mess comes from the priests led by Bozanićka and the fascist scum running various political parties. ☕

Looking at the Democratic Party here in America...
In Austria, I’d align most closely with the conservative People's Party from the EPP, or maybe the Republican Party over in Germany... 🤣 That should give you a pretty clear idea of just how "left-wing" the Democratic Party actually is.

Closest political matches in the US: Liberal Party and Democratic Party (spot on)
In Italy: Democratic Party (spot on)
In Germany: Libertarian Party
In the UK: Liberal Democrats and the Conservative Party
In Austria: Green Party

The Democratic Party is actually a right-wing party. 🤣

We have biases. I haven't served as a mod on this board myself (I just signed up 😁), but I know how hard it is to stay neutral every single time—especially when you factor in this PDF 🙂
.
I'm not taking the moderator's side here, but I'm not taking yours either.

Of course I can't be perfectly objective, fine.
But your post was actually quite charming, so I'll go out of my way to refrain from being insulting in this reply. 😁 😍

Charles Fox10 said:Don't bother sending me any links because I'm certainly not going to moderate based on your personal whims. Besides, why would anyone send links to a primitive, backward moderator who clearly hates you and just tosses out cards whenever they feel like enforcing their own stupid rules? Just report the post.

And regarding the strike—it wasn't a hate speech violation, because that would have triggered a week-long suspension. It was a rule violation strike, which was pulled because I requested it and provided the reasoning.

Who exactly is even sending you links? 🙄
The reality is that you targeted me specifically with that strike, while people posting all sorts of nonsense walked away scot-free. 😉
That alone tells you everything you need to know about you.

All you ever do is hand out strikes to anyone who disagrees with you.

I will gladly open an appeal thread every single time you slap me with a strike, because 90% of the time, I’ll be able to prove you were wrong. 😉

It’s honestly laughable that your approval is required to overturn a strike (which implies the admin team is just following your lead?), especially when the strike itself was issued in direct violation of the rules. For instance, phantique and the rest didn't get hit with anything. Why weren't they penalized?
Why are their off-topic posts merely deleted, while mine result in actual punishments that only get cleared once I go through the hassle of opening an appeal? 🤷

It is deeply concerning to see a moderator acting with such blatant bias, not to mention your illiterate posts are giving me a migraine. ☕

P.S. This whole thread is pointless now because it's impossible to believe in any objective action from the moderation team.
So, feel free to close this thread.

slybison8 said:Look, Nicholas Chavez37,

I get why you got flagged earlier. But honestly, I don't see what the big deal is with these three specific posts you pointed out. At first, I thought people were targeting you, but looking closer, they’re just discussing some singer within the context of the culture debate you actually started.

I don't see any reason to ban any of those three posts. My previous warning—and the fact that I'm granting amnesty for past stuff—was strictly about those bizarre, useless threads that devolved into nothing but petty bickering. It looks like those three posts have moved past that. Or am I missing something here? 😕

Of course you don't "see" it, because I wasn't the one who wrote it. If I had been the author, some moderator would have stepped in already.

In those threads, they started attacking my personal taste and questioning how I could be so "uncivilized" for mentioning that a certain museum in New York City isn't operating.
That was a direct shot at me. Besides, if there's absolutely nothing wrong with those posts, then why the hell were they deleted in the first place? 🤷

Fine. Next time I'll respond, and I'll have Chuckie send over links to the posts he won't be flagging.

Honestly, his way of judging posts is pretty twisted. I previously mentioned that a certain nation is lagging behind when it comes to equality, and he took that as hate speech.

So, there you have it. That's "objectivity" for you. ☕

So, let me get this straight: Charles Fox10 is out here nuking posts that break the rules, yet somehow, I'm the only one getting flagged?
There you have it—that’s the "impartiality" we can expect from this moderator.
He wipes away anything he personally dislikes (assuming it isn't against the rules), while my posts—which clearly just happen to clash with his personal opinions—get slapped with warnings?
What kind of criteria is being used here, and why is it always my content that ends up in the crosshairs?

Can anyone actually give me an answer? Because honestly, I'm starting to wonder what the point of this subforum even is if this is how it works.
