How did you guys find this movie? in Movies ·
I can't quite recall the very first movie I ever watched, but I’ve always been a huge fan of cinema. For me, nothing beats the experience of going to my local theater; it’s still the gold standard in my book. If I’m staying in, I usually stick to my home theater setup with a big LCD TV in a dark room. I might use a laptop if I absolutely have to, though I don't watch much on one lately. I tend to watch pretty much everything—crime dramas, SF, historical pieces, comedies, documentaries, westerns, horror, romances, action, mafia flicks, animation, stop-motion, time travel stories, psychological thrillers, sports movies, even the classics like Bud Spencer & Terence Hill. Honestly, I'll watch just about anything. That said, I guess my standards for quality have definitely gone up over the years. There's one genre I haven't really gotten into yet, though—maybe it's just me, but I find Asian cinema a bit uninteresting so far. I might grow to love them eventually, but for now, they just haven't grabbed my attention.
After Earth (2013) in Movies ·
It's a tough call. Either it’s a total mess or we get Will Smith in the lead, and he might be one of the most overrated actors in America. I guess it feels like just another big-budget action flick without much substance.
Remakes and sequels: how much is too much? in Movies ·
Jeremy Kim57 said:He truly is that talented and original, without any hyperbole 🙂 I don't think remakes are inherently pointless. For instance, in twenty years, we might see a remake of something like Harry Potter or Twilight simply because technology will have advanced so much. But Tarantino's films aren't built on tech—they rely on atmosphere and characters that drive the story forward. So, why would anyone bother remaking him? It seems nearly impossible. What would you even remake in Pulp Fiction? New dialogue? 🤷

I wonder why we assume that counts as progress? Sure, technology has moved forward, but I guess we can only call it progress if it actually makes movies better. People always point to digital recording, CGI, and 3D as the big leaps. To me, it feels a bit like a trick being sold to generations raised on video games—it's the same tactic used in gaming, really. I think people had just as much fun playing 2D games back on the old Super Nintendo or Game Boy.

If you really can't stand remakes or sequels, I guess the best thing you can do is just not watch them. That's probably the only way to actually reduce their numbers. At the end of the day, a Hollywood movie is a business—not just in Hollywood, but everywhere—so they basically just churn out whatever brings in the most cash. Unfortunately, the data seems to suggest there's a huge audience for this stuff. Luckily, there are so many other options out there, like original films, documentaries, international cinema, books, comics, TV shows, sports, or music... I mean, why waste your time on something you aren't interested in watching anyway?
Jurassic Park in Movies ·
Jurassic Park was such a game-changer back in its day. It really pioneered that massive scale of modern CGI special effects—way more than what we saw in Terminator 2—and it basically made dinosaur history cool again while making the creators a ton of money. Personally, I think it's the one movie that actually managed to outdo its book. I wasn't a huge fan of the novel, so I guess the filmmakers were smart to fix some of those shaky characters and plot holes. To be honest, the second half gets a little repetitive for me, but I just love those first 40 minutes.
"Sorry about that, I was actually stuck in the restroom during the minute of silence. My thoughts were with Sid."

Was he shouting or just busy in there? 🙏 🙏 🙏

Some commentator is calling it a disgrace, but honestly, that seems a bit much. The race was right about to start, and every driver is completely dialed in on their prep. If Michael Schumacher had to run to the bathroom at that exact moment, then he really had to go. It’s not like people haven't known him for twenty years; I don't think missing a minute of silence is such a huge deal in the grand scheme of things... 🙄
Nathan Jones98 said:I'm hoping it doesn't happen—but honestly, looking at how things are going, I've got my doubts
since the lead is down to just 29 points now, and let's be real, neither Alonso nor Kimi have the pace to pull off wins right now
Hamilton's got the speed, but man, I think today really took it out of him

Kimi deserves a lot of credit, but honestly, compared to Hamilton, Jenson Button, and Sebastian Vettel, his car feels more like a bicycle than a real racer. He might snag a win here and there or land on the podium occasionally, but the reality is he's constantly fighting just to stay relevant against the Mercedes drivers (and if I recall, they're struggling just to hold onto a top 10 spot). At the end of the day, championships go to the teams with the big budgets, which usually means Red Bull Racing, McLaren, or Ferrari.

Good grief, what kind of prophet are you? Honestly, where on earth are you getting this from?

Where exactly are you finding the logic that Alonso will just drop out? Not long ago, you were claiming Vettel might be the one sidelined by an alternator issue, praying for that German driver to take a direct victory on track. Now, suddenly, you're expecting some sort of divine intervention where Alonso just gives up?

I'm looking forward to the Japan Grand Prix, hoping to see Ferrari showing more competitive edge. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Vettel runs into a mechanical failure—that would certainly be my prediction for the outcome in Japan. ☕

I guess I didn't say anything wrong. It's not just about mechanical failures; you've got collisions with other drivers, tire blowouts, or even just clipping the walls. Seven races is a long stretch, and it's hard to say they'll all finish without a hitch. Plus, with drivers like Romain Grosjean, Kamui Kobayashi, and Narain Karthikeyan out there, nobody can really relax. If he wants the title, he’s going to have to win; Vettel will definitely be close in the standings, and I suspect Hamilton will be right up there too.

Oh, and Deda really nailed Jean-Éric when he least expected it. 🙏 🙏 🙏
I guess Fernando Alonso didn't really do anything special today; he just drove a bit safely to stay near the front without actually making any real attempt at winning. To me, both Vettel and Hamilton seem like stronger title contenders right now. Seven races is a long time, and if he has just one bad retirement—which seems likely—all those points might just vanish.
shadowtrucker said:Since he's still so young... by his age, it's already about time to retire from Formula 1.🙂

With some exceptions 😍

That's how I see it, personally. 😍
It was a really tough break for Lewis Hamilton, who seemed to be cruising toward a safe victory. I also wanted to send a quick shout-out to young Narain Karthikeyan, who predictably kissed the wall and caused one of those "red flags." I guess if it weren't for the push to expand the market into places like India and other developing nations, drivers like him might never get their hands on cars this advanced.
Since David Coulthard is just walking down the track without an umbrella—I guess you might have some incorrect info!
I guess those isolated lightning bolts are just Jenson Button activating his DRS.
Raymond Anderson4 said:It shouldn't be an issue... the only rain we saw was in Singapore around 2 PM, and that was pretty much it.

Well, now they're actually predicting snow right in the middle of the race.
Yeah, regarding those strugglers at the back, I feel like they might be the most frustrating bunch in Formula 1 history. These Cosworth engines are almost tragicomic.
I guess Mercedes will start off strong again, but they might find themselves struggling to stay afloat during the final third of the race. It felt like a pretty strange call today not to set a time in Q3 at all. Maybe they know something we don't? 🙂
I'm adjusting my prediction because I totally missed a team member. I guess a win for Lewis Hamilton is pretty much routine, and maybe Jenson Button will round out a 1-2 finish.
Button made it look easy.
One thing is for sure, Dinamo Chicago is definitely the wildcard of this group.
I think you might be a bit too optimistic about this. They’re basically just remaking these stories because there's easy money to be made. It seems like one of those shortcut ways to put together a film project for school over there—just buying a finished story and turning it into a movie.
