Messaging is a nightmare in Psychology & Therapy ·
So where’s the actual issue?

This whole thread is completely pointless.

Carl Rivera43 said:So, I have this acquaintance who’s also a pretty close friend of one of my buddies, and let me tell you, she has some seriously bizarre and over-the-top habits.

How on earth do you tell someone they're totally overdoing it with the constant texting and checking up on everything people are doing?
Why is she so obsessed with grilling me about my friend?

Does she really not get that her being this extra is actually making him super uncomfortable?

Today she asked me what I talked about with him, and I just told her I was asking what he was whipping up for lunch {just joking around, obviously}, and she replies... "Oh, you asked about lunch? Well, I'll handle dinner!" Honestly, I lost it laughing!

Do you think someone nearing 40 can actually realize how weird this all is?

Maybe try just saying, "Hey, you're texting too much, it's getting annoying." Boom. Problem solved.

Why, why, why, why this, why that... and what's the deal with the guy? Is he just too clueless to tell her she's bugging him? Better to just step back and let him deal with her nonsense himself.
Look at him, blocking her then unblocking her... real smooth, real cool.
Dating a "normal" person vs. someone "unstable. in Psychology & Therapy ·

I usually run into that first type.

Just because they're mentally stable doesn't mean there aren't people out there who've hooked up with someone like us—doesn't matter if it's a parent, a partner, or just a friend.
How they react when you finally decide to come clean? Depends on them. And yeah, sometimes it depends on if they've dealt with this kind of thing before.

"Normal"? You think they're normal just because they don't have mental health issues?
Nobody's actually fine. Everyone's pretty much screwed deep down at some point. The brain's always working against you.

There’s a massive difference between someone who judges you based on a diagnosis and immediately wants out, versus someone who hasn't lived through your shit but actually tries to listen and get it.

You stop stressing about whether they're just like you or "normal."

Forget about being "normal." You're either a parent or you aren't. Making a kid? Anyone can do that. Even an idiot.

Paul White80 said:Sure, but sometimes instead of getting ignored, you end up getting fired. That's a bit of a problem, isn't it? 😁

If we're talking about the paycheck, that's a different story. Then you give 'em the finger until they notice. 😁

Paul White80 said:So why not just fake it? Play the part they want you to play and act like everything is perfect. Then, the second they turn their backs, give them the finger and go right back to being "perfect."

I’d rather give 'em the finger while they're looking at me. Honestly? I'd take being ignored after that over having to dodge them all day.

It doesn't have to be. But it is.
Suppressing stuff—especially emotions—it's just the tip of the iceberg. It's just the symptom of a much bigger mess underneath.

Fear, insecurity, life's a mess.
Open up? You get screwed.
Keep quiet? You still get screwed.
Options? There aren't any.

Honestly, I’m exhausted. Total drag.

What images? Please. If I posted my own, the whole damn server would probably crash and they'd never bother setting up a new one anyway.

Look, if we're just chatting, fine. Go nuts. But the second people start hijacking a solid thread or killing off a topic with actual potential? I'm out. I stop reading. It’s been happening for a while now—every single thread eventually gets twisted into something completely irrelevant.
Whether they're doing it for attention or whatever, I don't care. It's annoying, and I know I'm not the only one feeling this way.
