So, I have this acquaintance who’s also a pretty close friend of one of my buddies, and let me tell you, she has some seriously bizarre and over-the-top habits.

How on earth do you tell someone they're totally overdoing it with the constant texting and checking up on everything people are doing?
Why is she so obsessed with grilling me about my friend?

Does she really not get that her being this extra is actually making him super uncomfortable?

Today she asked me what I talked about with him, and I just told her I was asking what he was whipping up for lunch {just joking around, obviously}, and she replies... "Oh, you asked about lunch? Well, I'll handle dinner!" Honestly, I lost it laughing!

Do you think someone nearing 40 can actually realize how weird this all is?

Is she actually crushing on him?

Just set them up on a date already. If they actually go, maybe she'll finally leave you alone.
Honestly, all I see is a girl who’s totally into him but has zero clue how to make a move, so she's using you as her middleman.
Play the matchmaker role a little bit. 😁

She seems totally smitten, but honestly? It’s kind of hilarious. Her messages are just full of these super childish habits, you know? And in person, she’s way more reserved. Her friend keeps playing this weird game where they block her and then unblock her again. Just two or three weeks ago, she was insisting that tons of guys were hitting on her, but now she’s claiming that's all changed.

I guess your friend was probably referring to ‘a lot of guys’ 😬 #blockunblockblockunblock

She isn't being aggressive; she’s just a bit clumsy. You can really tell she has this massive desire to connect with people, but she hasn't quite mastered how to navigate the internet without going overboard

Maybe try just saying, "Hey, you're texting too much, it's getting annoying." Boom. Problem solved.

Why, why, why, why this, why that... and what's the deal with the guy? Is he just too clueless to tell her she's bugging him? Better to just step back and let him deal with her nonsense himself.
Look at him, blocking her then unblocking her... real smooth, real cool.

A buddy of hers told her she’s a bit clumsy, though he didn't mean any harm by it... whenever the three of us run into each other, she’s all smiles and high energy, you know? But then when we're just texting back and forth, she can sound kind of down in the dumps sometimes.

So where’s the actual issue?

This whole thread is completely pointless.

Suck, honestly. It feels like I'm listening to a debate between toddlers. 😲

How old did you say they were again? 🤔

🤦

The real problem is I have no clue how to tell her she's totally wrong.

I'm 28, my buddy is 33, and she's 39.

What kind of right are we talking about here? Legal? Ethical?

Look, you're being a pushover with her.
And honestly, the way she acts makes you look like the weak one.
Plus, your friend is totally siding with you guys.

The real question is, what do you actually want to happen?

What do I want? Honestly, I just want to find a way to communicate better with her. I get the feeling she isn't nearly as clumsy as she seems over text.

She might be one of those rare women where there is a massive gap between how she texts and how she actually acts in person.

One thing I've noticed is how scattered she can be. Sometimes, it almost feels like I'm talking to three different people at once.

When we're face-to-face, even when she's trying to be serious, she comes off as somewhat funny just because of her rhythm—her voice, her gestures, everything. That same quirky energy carries over to her texting, though it's harder to pin down there. And trust me, I've texted much more awkward girls than her before.

Based on all those weirdly suggestive topics you keep posting under a fake handle, while simultaneously typing with double 'w's... 😁

Who would have guessed that this was actually just some clone of Carl Rivera43?
God forbid! 🙂

How much would you pay to prove I don't have any clones?

With a grin, I hate to disappoint you... though maybe I'm actually saving you! I don't have any clones.

Maybe we should ask the moderators which specific posts about living together were scrubbed?
And what about the ones on this subforum too?

A little while back, there were maybe three or four threads that were clearly just carbon copies of each other. In one of those threads, the clone apparently had a bit of a meltdown and typed everything out using nothing but the letter w. 😁

The clone ended up getting banned, the threads were locked, and then they were just wiped from existence.
Anyone else catch that happening?

Look, I’m single, so I don't even really read about this stuff, let alone write about it... but go ahead, ask me anything!

It might not have even been Carl Rivera43. Could just be some (sad) copycat. 😢
