Do you truly accept yourself? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Larry Lewis said:Or maybe his parents, his grandparents...? 😉

Look, they’d actually get a bit of a break, which wouldn't hurt. The only thing I can't stand is if the kid is a total brat... I honestly can't deal with kids like that.

I’d probably take him out for some hot cocoa... 😁

Larry Lewis said:Acceptance isn't the same thing as approval.

If a person actually accepts that they have a condition—like I do—they've essentially taken
one massive step forward, because if there's even a shred of sanity left in their head, they might actually start treating the illness.

Look, I neither accept nor approve of them. I just can't wrap my head around it. I can accept a thief if he admits he's a thief, acknowledges it's wrong, and tries to stop being one—that's fine. But a thief who parades his thievery around like it's totally normal and brags about it instead of just shutting up and fixing himself? Yeah, I'm not buying that.

Schizophrenia is a disease—a nasty one, sure—but it's something you can live with relatively normally, or you don't have to. It's an illness. Nobody chooses this crap... it just happens.
If someone's schizophrenia triggers pedophilia or whatever else, fine, that's tragic. But for God's sake, doing something wrong like that and then claiming it's okay without trying to change? Saying it's perfectly fine when it isn't? That's just 🙏.

Larry Lewis said:It’s just a textbook case of self-indulgence—the kind that eventually leaves you stranded when the chips are down.

Or am I just being overly cynical here?

Look, it’s not even about "not accepting myself." It’s more that I can’t wrap my head around accepting this absolute circus of a world... a world overflowing with idiots, creeps, scammers, and thieves who act like they own the place, pushing this lifestyle on everyone else like it's some kind of holy grail we all need to follow.
And honestly? You're probably right. This mindset might lead me straight into a ditch eventually, but I refuse to be mentally unstable when I wasn't born that way...
I'm not saying every single person out there is unhinged—there are definitely some good souls left—but let's face it, the vast majority of people are completely messed up.

I’m all for it,🙂 but I sure as hell don't agree with the rest of the world... or most people out there.
Internet rage: What's your breaking point? in Psychology & Therapy ·
It’s actually the exact opposite... I’m basically trying to vent all this aggression and frustration online instead of keeping it bottled up inside.
How do I stop being a pushover and actually get heard? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Your only real move left is to find Regina a husband. 😛 Just kidding! 🙂

Dammit, his whole life is gonna be like this. He’ll never stand up to anyone. Always gonna be a pushover.
Today it's his parents, his buddies, his siblings... tomorrow it'll be his wife.
That's how it works. You let yourself get coddled like that and you're never gonna toughen up overnight, and let's be real—people don't look kindly on guys like him.

Paul White said:If I was in my peak fertile window and he used a condom, but still finished inside me, does that actually bump up the chances of getting pregnant? Or does it not matter since we used protection? Thanks

It doesn't change a thing unless the condom actually broke.
How old are you anyway? Honestly, this sounds like pure paranoia to me... I know how that goes. 😁

Paul White said:Hey everyone, I'm new here. Can someone please help me out with something that's really stressing me out? I had sex for the first time with my boyfriend about a week ago. He finished inside me, but he was wearing a condom. Is there any chance I could get pregnant? My period isn't supposed to start for another week, and I'm terrified it might be late. Is it normal for it to be a few days late after having sex for the first time? Thanks in advance

Look, if he used a condom and that thing didn't break, you aren't getting pregnant. Period.
As for your period... I don't know if being late is totally normal or not. Mine was a couple of days late the first time I dealt with this, but honestly, my cycle is always all over the place anyway.
If it's just a day or two late, don't sweat it, but if you're hitting the one-week mark without it showing up, then yeah, you should probably start worrying...
Taylor Diaz2 said:I don't see it that way—unless we're talking actual physical violence. And I mean direct bodily harm, not just breaking furniture or playing the intimidation game.

Oh yeah, because clearly we should just sit around and wait for someone to get their head chopped off before we do anything.
neonmason86 said:If we were family, I’d be part of the problem myself. That’s where all the trouble starts. Honestly, she just doesn't need to pick up the phone anymore.
It started over nothing—some kid tossing a wrapper on the street while walking with his parents—but it escalated into a physical fight filled with profanity (which I won't repeat here because it was truly vile).
Then there was that blowout in the grocery store; the lady hit her with a purse and then offered this half-hearted apology... only to call her an "idiotic cow" ten minutes later, wondering why she even bothered.
My concern stems from fear that the next few parents might just walk away... or that she won't be able to keep her husband from wanting to walk out on her (which, obviously, I don't condone), or that she'll run right into some aggressive stranger while screaming about her political views...
She doesn't have to be a pushover, and her opinions are still her own, but there is a way to express yourself without being reckless.
When you care about people, you want what's best for them.
This isn't even close to being okay—it's just dangerous.

Maybe try forcing her into a hospital. It’s not pretty, but it's better than this. Since she's an adult, under certain circumstances, it might actually be possible to commit her to psych... Better than letting her hurt someone.
neonmason86 said:This is tough to read. You really had to survive this, push through...
My ex also had mental health issues (now that he's fortunately started therapy, he keeps the diagnosis a secret... I assume what it is, I just hope they pull him out of it before he hurts himself).
It just drains a person...
And then you end up facing a whole different set of problems... During those moments of "clarity" (I don't know how else to describe it), the person admits they have a problem and that they aren't happy.
In her own words—she isn't living a quality life, just some kind of half-life.

If you wouldn't mind clarifying things, or if anyone else witnessed this, maybe shoot me a DM. Since when does being unhappy or feeling like you aren't living a fulfilling life automatically mean someone has a mental disorder? Is a psychiatrist or some meds just going to magically fix everything? I mean, I don't even know. Maybe the person in your story actually has a perfectly fine life and there's no reason to be miserable, but they're just manufacturing drama where none exists. Or maybe those "explosive" reactions toward you and the rest of the family are coming from a valid place, and you guys are just choosing to ignore the root cause because it's easier that way.
Look, maybe start by actually talking to your family doctor and getting some professional advice instead of just playing doctor and trying to diagnose yourself when you have no clue what you're doing.

It’s exhausting, really. I just wish I actually had someone in my life I could lean on.

That kind of thing only exists in fairy tales. Just trust yourself and your own gut...
I don't trust anyone anymore... in Psychology ·
I don't trust anyone. Not even a single soul. That’s why I start spinning yarns the second I open my mouth... and half the time I just stay quiet because if I do, there's no way I can keep the lies straight.
Why am I always hungry? in Health ·
I’m dealing with the exact same thing. I feel like I'm constantly snacking, but luckily, the scale just won't budge. 😁 I went through a whole battery of tests and everything came back totally normal, so honestly, it’s probably just stress—which is likely what's going on with you too. Just to be safe, though, maybe hit up your doctor for some bloodwork or something just to get that peace of mind... Also, try chugging some water whenever that hunger hits. Sometimes when you're dehydrated, your body just sends out fake hunger signals because it's actually thirsty.
