Is permanent happiness actually possible? in Philosophy ·
... trees... they don't live forever either... ¿and as for luck... you never really know, do you?

.. when it comes to animals .. well .. you don't really grasp anything, do you? .. you can't know if they have a concept of God .. if they actually feel happy .. or if they even understand what death means ..

... do they actually have eternal life here on Earth...?

... do animals actually have .. ?

.. and God .. ? .. this longing for paradise .. ?

.. how do desires even begin? ..

... how did they actually come to be?

.. what does "ideal" actually look like? ..

.. alright, so how did that illusion even get created? .. what kind of material was it actually made from..?

... according to Revelation... if there is a God, you really ought to strive to be one of those people in white robes... they belong to Him... while everyone else just gets crushed...

... and it’s entirely possible there isn't even a God... but honestly, the situation doesn't look much better... it's possible that being an honest person isn't even part of the plan...

... maybe you have plenty of beautiful examples of love... from your own life... which serve to effectively mask the examples of hatred... drawn from all sorts of different lives...
... perhaps you're playing the card that every Hitler was just an outlier... and that a few million people can occasionally... be sacrificed for the greater good...
... but... if there is no God... humanity hasn't found anything solid yet... anything that would actually guarantee... a better tomorrow...
... to me... for instance... it's worrying... just the fact that humans now kill more of their own kind than animals...

... no... I can't know for sure... that's why I say "if"... and... well, damn it... I'm just a philosopher...
... what do you think the future holds?

.. that sense of love .. and fear .. and strength .. which one carries more weight .. none of it defines who we are ahead of time .. I can't say exactly when or how .. but ultimately .. a person chooses.

... No... if my assessment of where you stand is accurate... I won't walk away from this conversation with anything truly new... and the discussion itself will just turn into a vehicle for hitting certain agendas...
... and if I take it too seriously... I lose...

.. look at me.. look at where I'm standing..

.. and I see you.. you exist for me in a place where you can actually hold your own.. where you can actually live..
.. that's how I view people, too.. .. nothing about them is as solid as their desire to simply exist.. .. if they truly believed in God, they could have found Him in two thousand years of searching..

.. Camus once said that some people champion great truths only to abandon them the moment their lives are on the line.. on the flip side.. others die because they believe life itself is worthless.. if you ask him what matters.. he says.. it's simple.. what matters is what binds you.. what forces you to take yourself seriously.. not something up for debate..

.. no .. I don't agree .. that isn't a conversation .. which is why I consider myself a philosopher .. a philosopher's job is to dismantle the conversation ..
.. in America, they call it a "point of view" .. personally, I say .. I'm just standing here observing it .. and I say .. stay right there and tell me what you see ..

.. maybe.. okay.. this is just fear.. but that isn't philosophy..

.. philosophy accounts for the fact that the US bombed Iraq for oil.. that people would kill others over something like swine flu just to turn a profit.. that Hitler burned millions of lives..

.. telling some Jewish person fleeing from Hitler—thirty-some years ago—that it's all just fear.. that they should stay put and change the course of history through sheer kindness.. that feels like.. a bullshit ideology to me..

.. the problem is—damn it—when an ideology comes from clergy.. (.. you're Catholic.. am I supposed to think of myself as some kind of.. priest's sycophant? ..) .. the issue is that slavery was truly a vile system.. and priests who preach about love often just serve their masters to keep the masses under the yoke.. .. so you have to wonder.. good Lord.. why do those priests do it?.. because, well.. for themselves.. they secured their own positions.. if they had actually been acting out of love back then, would they have stayed slaves to the cause?..

.. everything is wrong .. people have been misinterpreting this for two thousand years .. start with yourselves .. just be decent people ..
.. a total disaster ..
.. good people actually listen .. while those bastards .. they don't bother .. but idiots like that .. the kind who throw stones when you offer bread .. are exactly what's needed .. that's how they build the world .. and that's precisely why the world turned out to be .. such a miserable mess ..
.. nothing matters but a clear readiness to die .. my friends and fellow Americans .. God is all there is .. the god of all gods ..
(.. that's how the old shamans used to say it .. clear .. precise .. brief .. because there isn't much philosophy to be found here ..)

.. either deal with our own lack of integrity and brace for the end of the world ..
.. because if .. being honest .. isn't rewarded .. then sticking to your principles just ends up screwing you and the rest of the world for nothing ..

.. alright .. fine .. if it helps me understand .. (.. though I’m only saying this because I care about you ..)

.. back in Genghis Khan's era .. bicycles hadn't even been invented yet ..

.. but you seem to think a little monkey is enough proof for modern humanity .. especially for him .. (.. you'd probably forgive a little monkey if he wasn't cheating perfectly .. but not a man .. because a man should have learned by now ..) .. and these folks today are much the same .. living just like they always have .. .. so .. if they were actually smart enough .. they would be cheating ..
.. so what the hell is wrong with them?
Scam Alert in Philosophy ·
.. I don't get it... doesn't being a "little monkey" imply some sort of biological basis—an excuse for cheating on an exam?
.. aren't the ones being illogical here the people who won't let you take an exam for five years just because they've labeled you a fraud?
