DVD burner/player issues in IT Support ·
Need some help here
My DVD drive handles retail audio CDs just fine, but whenever I try to run a burned data DVD, it’s a total disaster. It just spins and spins, grinding away at nothing... Windows 10
Could someone please explain this in plain English?
Thanks
How to be a good person without being a doormat in Psychology ·
Christian Wells3 said:Hey, hope this PDF works okay.

If not, feel free to move it.

My question is: How can I be a good person without getting walked all over? People have taken advantage of my kindness and naivety way too many times.

The last time it happened was just a few months ago.

I was living in a small rental apartment. There was this older janitor in the building (he had some special needs). He was a great guy, seriously, he always helped me out, wasn't making much money, and lived in this run-down little shack. Anyway, I suddenly had a death in the family and ended up moving into a much bigger place. Since the old place was furnished, I told my former landlord he could give my stuff (TV, fridge, bed) to the janitor.

A few days ago, I called my old landlord because a coworker needed a place to crash for a couple of nights. Not only did he charge her an insane amount ( $333 for just 3 days, when I used to pay $200 plus utilities), but he actually sold all my stuff and didn't give a single thing to the janitor...

There have been plenty of other times where I've been used and ripped off.

What I want to know is, how do you carry yourself in life so things like this don't happen? I'm the type of person who would give someone the shirt off my back to help them through a hard time, but I almost always end up getting played.

Right now, I've got two specific movies circling my brain. Both are actually pretty incredible...
A review?
It’s almost pointless to try, because both films just leave you staring at a wall wondering about so many things...

Artificial Intelligence Directed by Steven Spielberg

There are four kinds of people out there:
The ones who actually know what they're talking about,
the ones who realize they don't,
those who think they know when they really don't,
and the ones who don't even realize how much they're missing...

I've finally reached the stage where I know I don't know anything at all.

If you're actually terrified of missing out, maybe just stay in bed tomorrow morning...

we usually end up staying all day 🙂

Well, sounds lovely. But to me, that just sounds like a little picnic... you really have to prepare for this stuff.
My own watering hole is right on my commute from work back home.

If you're talking about me, then it's Jacob Thompson3...
Baćo reminds me of that marathon runner from Miami... personally, I couldn't run a mile if my life depended on it...
Even the name Jacob Thompson3 just sounds like something out of a debauched novel...
Just so we're all clear...

Spent the day nursing my wounds after some grinding work... Grabbed a beer and headed out to my own little slice of paradise in Miami.
A tiny little church, maybe two centuries old, tucked away next to an old cemetery. There’s a well just outside the graveyard gates.
I have this little ritual where I show up with a cold one and just sit by that well. It's surrounded by pines, cypress, linden, and chestnut trees... it smells just like the Mediterranean Coast.
But the silence...! God, the silence is something else. You don't hear a single human sound. Nothing at all, except for when I crack open the beer. Just birds, crickets, cicadas... and the wind.
Do you guys have a spot like that? A special place of your own? Something you bring along to sip on while you sit there...?

Man, easy for you to talk shit when you don't have a clue.
I'm over here talking about grinders, blood, welding, and WD-40, while you're rambling on about wizards, the underworld, and horoscopes.
And it wasn't some bloody mosquitoes, it was a bloody angle grinder. I’m out here earning new macho scars... right down to the bone.
Well, at least it kept me busy.
I actually started reading Harry Potter back when the first editions came out (maybe from Scholastic?). At first, I was hooked. The imagination... the way they built that world so convincingly. But then the second, the third part... just repetition. Where does it end? Then it all got commercialized with the movies, so I just gave up on it. Since when did you see an angle grinder in HP?
It's the exact same story with A Song of Ice and Fire. Read the first edition myself (Scholastic again?). Same thing—great imagination, great immersion. But then the second, then the third... characters, lands, who even cares anymore. And then once it got turned into those big movie franchises... and when they opened some tacky museum or whatever in Miami... it just feels cheap.
Anyway, I get the feeling that silver-haired dragon girl and that northern half-brother will eventually find each other. Though, honestly, even the author probably hasn't figured that out yet...
That whole mosquito thing actually made me think about patenting a new method for dealing with them. Using an angle grinder. Picture this: us running around at night, just grinding mosquitoes into dust. Vivid, isn't it...

Jacob Thompson3 said:Well, there’s zero laid-backness today. Some screws are so stuck even the WD-40 won't budge them... Is it a mouse tail or an angle grinder I need? Pretty rough.

Yeah, those damn screws are winning today. Sleep beat me to it. Angle grinder it is. Rough...
There was some blood involved, too.

The videos are killing me, but they aren't getting to me...
Coffee break.
Everything smells amazing.
I just love the Mediterranean Coast, especially because of the scents. We're talking about medicinal herbs here. Out here, there isn't a single wild plant that doesn't have some healing properties...
One of my favorites is lemon balm. It’s practically sacred, given the name. Or mint, or sage... just pure beauty.
It made me think about that debate we had earlier regarding salad and coffee. I was actually surprised by how little people seem to know about it...
Try adding some fresh young leaves of rosemary to a salad. It's incredible.
There's actually an interesting bit of history regarding rosemary. Back in the day, Charlemagne supposedly decreed—there's even documentation for it—that every homeowner had to grow rosemary in their yard. That's probably why he earned the title "Great"...
Anyway, give this rosemary trick a shot and let me know what you think...

Man, there's zero laid-backness today. Some of these videos show stuff you couldn't even unscrew with a can of WD-40... Is it a mouse tail or a grinder? Just crude...

Laid-backness and horoscopes. And coffee. ☕

The laid-backness is right here. San's already brewed a killer cup of coffee (honestly, he always does)...
Why would you even need a horoscope? Just to check if tomorrow is going to be more of the same...

I don't get why everyone makes such a big deal out of horoscopes...

Just pure laid-backness out here. Cows are lowing, dogs are barking... just sipping my coffee while staring out over the fields...
