So, what even defines a Spaniard? It’s basically the same deal as the old American label—just a catch-all term for the various groups living on the Iberian Peninsula, which the Romans called Hispania. Calling someone a Spaniard isn't really identifying a single ethnic group; it's more of a collective umbrella. You've got Castilians, Catalans, and so on—those are the actual distinct peoples. But since they all fall under that big Hispanic umbrella, they get lumped together as Spaniards.
If the Catalans decide they're done being part of Spain, then yeah, that’ll probably happen. But I don't think the Castilians are just going to sit back and let them walk away without a fight.
Scott Miller4 said:I guess solipsists wouldn't exactly see eye to eye with you on that. Their whole thing is believing that only the individual and their own experience truly exist, which is probably just as plausible as your theory. 😉
As for the title—specifically regarding atheists who are angry at God—I have to disagree. Usually, when someone loses faith in God or some abstract supernatural entity, it happens because they’ve gained enough self-assurance and realized they can actually hold their own against life.
Someone who is genuinely angry at God can't really be called an atheist. That sounds more like just a frustrated theist to me.
So, am I just some figment of your imagination, or are you actually living in mine?😁
But we can also take a look at the moral side of things here. Why do you think God would allow people to kill Jesus, His own Son?
I mean, what kind of God just stands by while people murder a part of Himself?
It’s honestly pretty sad that you don't seem to grasp the actual teachings of the Bible—I’m starting to wonder if you’ve even cracked one open. The Key thing here is that God gave us free will. He gave us the choice to be good, to be evil, or maybe a messy mix of both. We aren't robots, and we definitely aren't His slaves. We have the right to make our own decisions.
And specifically, that means I could theoretically go out tomorrow, grab an AK-47, walk into a school, and massacre a bunch of kids. And those parents? They’d be left asking what kind of God allows something like that to happen. But God doesn't "allow" it, per se. He gave us the freedom to choose. That was His gift. What happens after that is entirely on us. We basically get to live in the world we create for ourselves.
Look, I’m not trying to be rude here, but thinking you can judge the entire universe based on your own little perspective is... well, it's kind of foolish. You aren't the yardstick for reality.
Let me try to lay it out for you this way. There is this one massive Space. In this vastness, there are billions upon billions of galaxies and an unimaginable amount of empty void. Within every single one of those galaxies, you've got billions of stars—and then even more incomprehensible stretches of nothingness between them. Every solar system has a star or two, maybe some planets, and just endless, terrifying amounts of space in between.
Now, on just one of those tiny planets, tucked away in one solar system, inside one minuscule galaxy—on a planet that’s been around for about 4.5 billion years—Homo sapiens have been hanging around for maybe 2 million years. And if we're talking about actual recorded history? That's barely 5,000 years.
Our ethics, our morals, love, humanity itself... it’s such a microscopic sliver of this planet that honestly, it feels almost silly to even discuss it in context. Let alone discussing it in the context of the infinite expanse of Space. If God actually exists, He is something so utterly incomprehensible and alien to us that it’s basically impossible to wrap our heads around.
I just wanted to point out how incredibly brief our existence is, and how we occupy this infinitesimally small speck within Space. It’s hard to ignore just how tiny, insignificant, and fleeting we really are in the grand scheme of the Universe.
Look, I know this might sound a bit out there, but maybe we could actually learn something from how the Swiss handle things. Imagine if you spent your weekends out with the National Guard—just doing basic drills, practicing your aim, keeping your gear in top shape—and in exchange, you get a little extra cash in your pocket. Plus, if things ever truly kick off, you're already mobilized and ready to go. A small, professional force of maybe ten thousand people just isn't going to cut it if a real war breaks out.
Well, that caught me off guard for a second—tricked me just a little bit—but I'm back on track now...
