Maybe that’s just how you’re taking it since nobody actually called *you* names, but it hits the same for me! Like, what’s the logic here? Is it suddenly okay to say "the moderators are acting like idiots"? Or is it only acceptable to say "some moderators are acting like idiots"? Because one targets everyone and the other just calls out the specific ones causing problems, right? But if you tell someone "what you wrote is idiotic," you’re basically calling them an idiot by extension, because let’s face it—only an idiot writes idiocy! I swear I saw someone get slapped with a ban just for telling another user they were "writing nonsense." Yet, on some other subreddits, people say way worse and nobody even blinks! That’s the whole point I'm making. It feels like the mods don't apply the same rules to everyone; I have no clue why, but it’s a total fact that some people get a free pass while others get shut down for the exact same thing. It’s those classic double standards that everyone keeps venting about on the main threads.
Look, let’s be real: the mods react totally differently depending on which thread you're hanging out in. It's a straight-up fact. There's this incredibly thin line between what’s allowed and what isn't, and honestly? I don't think half these mods even know how to act themselves, so everything just boils down to whatever mood some random person happens to be in. They’re basically tiny little dictators who think just because they were handed a title, they get to twist the rules and "democracy" however they damn well please. And hey, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get a warning or a full-blown ban for even saying this, right? Just because I actually dared to criticize things—because apparently, questioning a mod's post is strictly forbidden here.
So, how are you even supposed to protect yourself? You've got these trolls who spend all day insulting people, spreading lies, and being completely intolerant, and the mods won't lift a finger or even look at a report. But then, the second someone snaps back to defend themselves because they're sick of the constant abuse, suddenly the mods jump in instantly! Boom—warning, strike, and before you know it, you're banned from talking altogether. Any attempt to complain is useless; you send an actual, reasoned appeal and they won't even give you a reasoned answer. And if you dare quote a private message a mod sent you just to show how they're acting, you get shut down even harder. It’s ridiculous! Someone the mod likes can quote people and throw insults around without a single consequence, while anyone the mod disagrees with gets slapped with a strike or a ban immediately. I’m just glad it’s not just me noticing this nonsense.
Basically, we aren't getting any real answers to these questions, just the usual copy-paste brush-offs. Also, look, it's one thing whether I agree with what Christian Watson2 said, but I think he has every right to say it. As far as I can see, his post didn't insult anyone; he was just stating his opinion, but the guy who called his opinion "idiotic" was basically calling him an idiot himself. So, it's fine for someone to tell you your views are stupid, but you aren't allowed to explain why they're wrong? That's insane. I'm not going to sit here and call the mods idiots, but I will say that an institution like this forum should seriously rethink who they hand authority to and how those people actually use it.

Seriously, this is just straight-up malicious labeling—why don't you just give yourself a red card and call it a day?
Look, just shutting down a thread isn't the answer if you leave all those nasty, insulting posts sitting there untouched! Honestly, doing that just fuels the fire and keeps the whole argument going. Personally, I found the topic pretty interesting—even though I wasn't jumping in myself, I was definitely lurking and reading everything. And get this: I didn't see any posts attacking Christians, but man, I saw a massive amount of people bashing gay people and those who actually support their rights. I mean, calling someone homophobic isn't an insult, right? Just like I don't think it's an insult to call someone a clerical right-winger (which, by the way, one user got banned for, probably because of The Edge himself). But telling someone they're a Catholic Taliban, or using slurs, or calling them an idiot or stupid? That’s a straight-up insult, yet it happens all the time, especially when the moderators clearly have favorites. It's so obvious! That’s why I rarely comment, because I’ve got a short fuse and I tend to snap back immediately if someone comes at me, but the mods just let everyone fight it out first and then start handing out bans once people finally lose their cool. It's not how it should work, and I'm trying not to say anything even harsher because, let's be real, the moderators are just itching to use their power, especially on this subforum where we call out their (lack of) work. Power goes to your head, and clearly, none of these mods are immune to that kind of ego.

You’ve wandered straight into the natural science subforum where you can't just spout total garbage without getting called out on it.
honestly, it's a total disgrace that people using this kind of language are even allowed to be moderators on this forum
a-ha, blue and yellow, those are the colors of the UN, right? whatever... honestly though, I bet Lawrence could’ve done a way better job painting that if he'd been the one at it
What even is this? A yellow and blue star next to a red square... and it looks like it was doodled by a five-year-old Lawrence over at Sunshine Preschool... sorry Lawrence, but you could probably do a better job than this
