That first Rings was actually just a 16-minute short included as a DVD bonus feature for the main films. For a second, I genuinely thought I’d just blanked on an entire sequel—turns out it was just a short.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this one. 🍿 Even if the previous sequel had its issues, the first movie in this US remake universe was actually pretty solid.

I was expecting something pretty terrible, but I actually ended up liking it. 🍿 Sure, it’s nowhere near being a "quality" film—not by any stretch—but it works if you just want to turn your brain off and zone out for a bit.

Jason Statham is the best of them all. 🤣

To be honest, I was hoping for something more given those high ratings and reviews. It’s fine for an hour or two if you just want to kill some time—but that’s about it.

Look, he pulled in some decent change—we’re talking somewhere in the $10M to $20M ballpark—and that doesn't even factor in the Blu-ray, streaming, or TV licensing revenue, which isn't exactly life-changing money either. Besides, gross revenue isn't the same thing as actual profit.

Yeah, right—because filmmakers apparently work for free, right? They don't take a dime for themselves. Every single cent of that $161 million earned at the US box office went straight back to the studio, leaving the actual creators with absolutely nothing. Oh, wait...

This is definitely my go-to kind of fairy tale when I'm looking for an excuse to hit the theater. 🎉 Look, I’m not expecting some cinematic masterpiece—let's be real—but I'm hoping for at least a decent, reliable Disney Movie to munch on some popcorn to. 🍿 PS: Richard is 🙂 once they actually get his look right... 🤦

Besides, isn't Superman a British cartoon? If they’re hell-bent on adapting something European, I find it hard to believe they'll get it right. A Superman movie would only work if it were a pure comedy—that's it. If they truly wanted to adapt European material, they should have gone with Marvel superhero characters from those classic comics; those stories are fifty times better than the American Marvel and DC crap (with a few exceptions, of course).

Man, just imagine a legitimate, Blockbuster Superman production for something like Dylan Dog (a real Dylan Dog, not the garbage we've seen)... or maybe Martin Mystere. If they actually adapted Mystere properly, he could rival Indiana Jones based on the source material... or Nathaniel Never, etc...

But we won't see that happen. Americans just don't "get" those kinds of stories. To them, any comic that requires actual brainpower feels foreign. Imagine an American studio trying to adapt a hero who doesn't have some supernatural power, a mutant, or a Kryptonian (exceptions like Batman, obviously) or some meathead like Captain America—characters that only pass as heroes because of how superficial the nation is. And we’re stuck on the outside looking in, because let’s face it: we’ll never see our European comics hit the big screen since there isn't anyone in Europe with the massive industry clout that Hollywood possesses.

I think it will be European; it's a British production, at least according to one news snippet I saw.
