During the first month, they changed the dial code because of the switch to the dollar. Customer service told me I could still use the old number and that the payment would go through just fine.

Thanks, we'll give it a shot.

I tried it myself. I wasn't looking to take any unnecessary risks; I was just trying to stay clear of the whole thing. $0.83 Transaction fees are a total rip-off. Why am I being charged just to move my own money around? It feels like a hidden tax on every single move I make. Is anyone else tired of watching their balance shrink because of these pointless processing costs? It’s ridiculous.

Why do we even have to go through this identity verification nonsense? And why on earth can't you just pay your bills without scanning some stupid QR code? It feels like every single step of modern life is becoming a hurdle designed to slow us down. Seriously, what’s the point? Is it all just about "security" and protecting us from fraud, or is it just more red tape for the sake of having red tape? They say it's to make sure you are who you say you are, but at what cost? We spend half our lives jumping through hoops just to access our own money or settle a simple utility bill. And don't get me started on the QR code requirement. Since when did a little square of black dots become the gatekeeper to my bank account? You want to pay a bill? Scan this. Want to move funds? Scan that. If the technology breaks, or if I'm in a spot with bad service, I'm basically locked out of my own financial life. It feels less like convenience and more like being forced into a digital cage. Is there actually a logical reason for this level of friction, or are we just letting tech companies dictate how much effort we have to exert to exist in society?
She was nice enough, sure, but her reasoning felt a little weak. But hey, I personally taught her how to build her own 2D payment code using American Airlines, and there were probably 200 people behind me losing their minds while we just sat there chatting—thinking we weren't actually working. We managed to make it both pleasant and productive at the same time. 🙂

Hey, tell Auntie I said hi if she happens to see this!

Well, teach me too then. I need it so I can send some extra cash to my parents... 🙂

Has anyone bought anything from Amazon lately? If so, could you let me know which day you ordered and what exchange rate they used for the dollar conversion?

I'm not totally sure if they'll give you that same deal at a local branch. This looks like one of those online-only promotions, so it might be worth a shot though... Personally, I just signed up and paid with my card through the website, and the policy showed up at my house in about four days.

Kevin Newman3 said:Does anyone know if there’s a cheaper option out there? My insurance renewal is coming up in September... I'm looking at a 2007 model, 44 KW, with a 40% bonus. Last year, my premium through Allianz came out to $0.38.

Maybe check the calculator on the Allianz website. Honestly, nobody could beat the rate you got; everyone else I talked to was at least a hundred bucks more expensive.

So, it says here he filed his first claim last year, which I guess explains why that rate jumped up by 35%...

That’s actually a totally different story. I was looking at the old pricing—I had no clue Coca-Cola had rolled out an unofficial new rate sheet. Could you please let me know what the new price would be for 55kW, New York City, 50%, including minimum passenger coverage (20/40)?

Maria Newman34 said:And honestly, their rates are way lower than what I see at Generalia.
Generalia is genuinely overpriced in every single way! I really don't get why they claim to be cheaper; all those TV commercials feel like total misinformation when it's clearly not true.

Maybe the issue is that malus on your policy from AO, which might be why the price ends up higher than everyone else's. It’s possible that's one of those changes coming our way soon. Or maybe they just messed up the math. From what I gathered, you reached out via phone or email, but my suggestion would be to just stop by a local branch in person. That way, they can run the numbers for an AO policy right there on the spot.

In my case, Generalia is actually the better deal. I have a policy with a 50% discount, and about a month ago, I signed up for one for $588 (after a 10% discount). Based on my math, if I went through Generalia today, it would cost me exactly $460.

I’m talking about liability insurance here; collision coverage is a completely different animal. I’ve been paying for it and shopping around for quotes for years, so I know firsthand just how much the prices can swing.

For me, State Farm has always had the best rates for collision coverage. On top of all their standard policy discounts, they sometimes throw in an extra 20% commercial discount if you ask, so they’ve consistently beaten out the competition for me.

Jessica Foster4 said:Well, State Farm offers the exact same policy for $485, so even if General Motors was the first to roll out those new rates, they aren't actually the cheapest option on the market anymore.

At State Farm, that same coverage is $647, not $485. We're talking about the Washington, D.C. area, so I think you might have miscalculated—maybe you were looking at rates for a different region? Right now, I don't think anything is more affordable than General Motors.

Besides those three, I’d say maybe take a look at what State Farm has to offer too...
Back in 2012, they seemed to be the best when it came to actually paying out claims here in the States.

I'm not sure why it would be logical to bundle comprehensive with your basic liability. I've actually kept my policies with totally different companies for years now.

Andrew Wells2 said:Quick little question here!😁

Do young drivers end up paying more for insurance than someone over 24 if the policy is in their name?

With comprehensive coverage, I don't think there's much difference in price between young and older drivers. I think Allstate used to offer specific policies like that once, but I'm not sure if they still do. For most other places, it seems like your age doesn't really matter, at least that's how it's worked for me so far.

Now, with basic liability, that's a whole different story. The price mostly depends on whatever discount or bonus the driver has from previous years. If a driver—whether they're young or over 24—is buying their very first policy under their own name, the price should be pretty much the same regardless of age.

Frank Garcia85 said:So we're in the USA now and car insurance prices haven't budged an inch...

Under these new rules, the government isn't going to dictate mandatory liability rates based on risk zones or engine size anymore. Instead, insurance companies get to submit their own pricing to the FBI based on their own risk assessments and whatever they feel like.

I bet the insurance giants already sent their price lists over to the FBI......

What's the hold-up?

I'd say it just feels that way to you because they sent new rates. I was actually reading a bit about this a few weeks ago, and everyone was basically saying they have zero intention of dropping prices right now. They're worried that cutting rates too much could trigger a total market collapse, kind of like what happened in Greece. Honestly, the current setup works fine for the insurers. They don't really need to give up those profits unless a new player jumps in and starts undercutting them. Only then would the rest of them probably react.

It’s pretty easy for Karabatić and his crew to just label our handball players as softies who prefer the couch to the court. 🤣

nimblewalker4 said:Yeah, honestly, it’s pretty easy. They’re asking how on earth Rocas hasn't maintained a 100% success rate from the wing during his career, but man... he hits the post whenever he feels like it. If he can do that, then scoring dozens of extra goals should be even easier, I guess.

I don't really get why we even bother with goalkeepers if players can just pull stunts like that. You know, like how Ronaldinho did in that one commercial? It makes the whole position feel kind of pointless. 🙄

🤦

Look, if you had actually stepped onto a court and tried to catch a handball mid-air or take a shot from the wing, you’d realize it isn't some complex science. It's not like hitting a target five feet away is some impossible feat. Anyway, I was just reading where Patrik Cavar mentioned that he feels like the French team was sandbagging during their game against the Germans. 🙂

boldhound8 said:It’s exactly what he said before the game started—it isn't some huge tragedy if we draw a "tougher" bracket. The real tragedy is killing yourself off just to win a match that doesn't even matter much in the long run.🙂 The players are completely spent, there's a bunch of "mechanical" injuries, and we probably lost our star player, all for what, exactly?🤷
When you actually sit down and look at the facts, you realize that having a harder path ahead of us is probably the least of our worries... But hey, at least we can feel proud and beat our chests about how much more honorable we are than the Pope himself.🙂

That's the thing. I guess you could forgive a tough draw, but because of Golužin's stupidity today, we've worn out our starters and now we're stuck without a left winger. Šprem is just too inexperienced and, honestly, not quite skilled enough to step in and go toe-to-toe against the French or the Danes on his own. We can't just rely on one wing, which means Goluža will likely call up Ninćević, and that means losing Lacković for the rest of the tournament. I think a lot of the commentators don't realize that we made a massive tactical blunder today. If the Spaniards really wanted to let us win, they would have let our bench players in instead.
