Why are you guys still voting Republican? in Close to Politics ·
stormygull67 said:Exactly—it’s like saying, "That's not a mess, the dog just had an accident!"

Well, looking at how you write and the way you approach things, it almost feels like even that one single vote might be asking too much of you!

Well, I don't think joining a political party is quite the same thing as actually casting a vote for them.

I guess we could technically register every American who passed away during the 20th century to a specific party, but I doubt that would change any election results, right?

I honestly feel like the main reason the Democratic Party didn't pull off a win is because they allowed overseas voters to participate. I have this hunch—though I haven't been able to find the exact numbers online—that the Democrats might have actually held a slight edge over the Republicans in almost every district, but those votes from abroad ended up leaning heavily toward the Republican Party.

🤣 🤣

I suppose things might actually be better under a new democratic Soviet Union than they are in the current American republic.

Joseph Wright4 said:Look, that happened back in the 90s, but in the last few elections, it's happened so rarely it's basically negligible—it doesn't change the outcome. I’ve actually served on an election commission myself, and I never saw anything like that. Not to mention, since around 2000, even in a tiny town of 100 people, you've got poll watchers from every single party present. So yeah, maybe it happens occasionally, but definitely not in numbers big enough to swing an election. And if it were happening as massively as you're claiming, the Democratic Party would be shouting it from the rooftops, along with other parties. It's just not true.

I guess you could look at my mom's hometown as an example. It’s a small community of maybe 200 people, perhaps a little more. They hire three locals to watch the polls—this time, my aunt was actually one of them—paying them $167 just to monitor the voting and keep an eye on the ballot boxes. But honestly, I suppose anyone could find a way to cheat.

Once the mass layoffs in government positions start, and once those paychecks dry up because the state goes bankrupt from sheer incompetence, even those few thousand will abandon the Republican Party...

And I'm sure there's still 50% of Americans backing the Republican Party.

I actually started this thread because of this: A friend of mine told me today, "I don't care if the country sinks or if Sanders is looting us, I'm still voting for him."
Then another one said, "Yeah, me too. My parents voted for him and I will too, no matter what happens."
It honestly left me stunned. Even my neighbor said something similar the other day:
>"I'm embarrassed to be an American. These people are all so clueless; how can they mock our Prime Minister when he only wants what's best for America?"
And here's another thing he mentioned:
"The Democratic Party robbed General Dynamics and they're the ones responsible for this crisis—they're just trying to pin everything on Sanders." (He didn't say it exactly like that, but it was something along those lines... I didn't catch every word since it was a pretty long monologue).

It looks to me like the country is just sinking further into trouble. The Republican Party seems to be getting more corrupt by the day, and honestly, Sanders can't seem to get anything right. It feels like you aren't even allowed to speak your mind if you disagree with the administration. Sanders acts like he owns the place—he could probably pull off a full dictatorship if he really wanted to, since he can basically arrest whoever he feels like. The only thing stopping him is that we don't have Gulags here yet.
So, I have to ask you guys:
Why are you still sticking by Sanders? I mean, has he completely brainwashed everyone, or is there something else going on here?

Half of those Axis collaborators were just small-town guys who genuinely thought they were fighting for America...

And at least 90% of the regular conscripts were in the same boat...

Plus, a huge chunk of the partisans were actually fighting against any kind of American state existing at all...

Haha... you're just spinning fairy tales now...
I'm not really sure what happened with those Home Guard guys?
Oh, wait, right... I remember now. Almost all of them ended up joining the Partisans, and yeah, some of those Home Guard soldiers ended up dying in Jasenovac later on too.

Karen Vaughn3 said:You have a point there—if a partisan executes an unarmed civilian or a prisoner of war, we cannot simply pretend that isn't murder.

But I guess that’s just taking justice into your own hands, especially considering how our people were targeted by the Axis powers back then.

So: Istragaaaaaaa!! 🙏

Honestly, they’re all just talking nonsense. They refuse to address what actually went down during Operation Storm; none of those crimes were ever truly brought to light, especially that instance where a plane targeted a civilian column. It's just shameful...
even as an American, I feel embarrassed by it.

It’s honestly upsetting that a show like Istragaaaaaaa exists just to fuel Nazi sentiment... total disgrace.

Karen Vaughn3 said:After fifty years of being kept in the dark, I say it’s finally time to drag all those WWII criminals into the light—and let's be honest, there were plenty on both sides.

I completely agree with that, though I don't think it's right to take crimes committed by Nazis and try to pass them off as being done by the resistance.

ironsailor6 said:You're the one who should be embarrassed. Seriously, these images are just your run-of-the-mill Photoshop jobs that only people with zero shame—like Mexicans or even those old-school Americans—would ever try to pass off for their own agendas. It feels like they're getting everything from some low-rent "Mexican Network" site, you know, one of those typical extremist websites filled with that kind of garbage.

Oh, and hey, kudos to anyone actually doing the digging and poking around this mess.

Well, if that's the case, why is an investigation even happening?

They're a disgrace, really. They should be embarrassed, and honestly, maybe they should just be banned altogether.

I’m looking over this investigation right now and I honestly can't believe my eyes... they're trying to frame the partisans, but then they throw in these photos supposedly showing partisans executing Nationalists. Anyone with half a brain can see those pictures actually show Nationalists executing partisans.

I tracked down the images here:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...e_na_djelu.JPG
http://www.prophetofdoom.net/pics/Is...le_corpses.jpg

Take this one, for instance—the man standing there among the bodies... he's a pretty well-known figure to us.
I guess it's just plain shameful. Honestly, all I can say is that it's a total disgrace.

Nice, thanks!

It’s funny how people can be—some folks are even claiming that Thompson smoothed out the edges of "Lijep nasu."
