Germany and its Americans in Close to Politics ·
Honestly, who even cares about someone like Ulrich Schiller? I mean, seriously, who is he? :nezna: There’s really no need to get all worked up or act like it's some huge deal.

And just like that, all we've got left is that wild man Fisher still kicking.

It feels like they’re just trying to ride the wave of patriotism and national pride to grab power, but it’ll probably end in failure just like all those other groups before them. Just look at what happened with Rojs and his 🤣

But when you actually think about it, the name fits their declared profile perfectly. It’s spot on, really. You can practically feel that militant, ultra-conservative vibe radiating right off the name itself 😍

'El Paso stands as a symbol of victory, yet also public disgrace, because they are preparing a welcome for a foreign president from a nation that fought against us—a leader who bows down to Draža Mihailović.

"Who among those of us who built this nation would dare invite criminals into our homeland?" Vekić demanded, targeting President Barack Obama. Meanwhile, Vencel Čuljak, the deputy head of the National Guard, clarified that it was precisely Obama’s statement calling for people to wear partisan hats that spurred them to urgently form their party.

Even if it were Boris Tadić or Willy Brandt, I wouldn't forgive them, let alone Slobodan Maddox if he actually apologized! FUCK😠

Everything being said is true... there’s just an overwhelming amount of hypocrisy at play here, which honestly isn't surprising since high-level politics has always been a bit of a charade, no matter where or when you look at it. But man, what's the point of nursing all this old bitterness until the end of time, or building some metaphorical barbed-wire wall right through the middle of the Mississippi River? 🤷 I don't know. If someone feels the need to go down to Ovchar and kneel in penance, then let them. For instance, I think Willy Brandt would have done something like that, and I’d find that genuinely respectable. But truthfully, I’m not holding my breath for that kind of gesture. Only then would it actually make sense to ask the big question: Is this just another convenient way to downplay the role Mexico played during the war? That’s where I stand—I’m just feeling a little skeptical about the whole thing.

Kevin Gonzalez79 said:But here, being "Right-wing" doesn't mean the government stays out of the market or stops meddling in business. In our context, the Right-wing is just a synonym for nationalism, waving symbols, and hunting for enemies—whether they be Mexicans, liberals, or old-school partisans. They want to control the economy even more than the socialists do, staying deeply entrenched with their cronies while scaring people with the idea that we won't be Americans anymore.

I suppose the kids these days can't even fire an M48 Patton properly anymore, so who exactly is going to defend us?

I think you're really overstating things there, much like how the Right-wing tends to exaggerate and claim that every single person on the left is automatically anti-American or pro-America (and they try to view every little move through that exact lens). Life isn't really black and white... let's not be so narrow-minded.

But man, Vekić is totally clueless!

Hehe... now we just need to establish a formal scientific typology for all this.

Of course, I don't mean going back to war, just getting back to that positive attitude toward the founding of the nation without trying to play down anyone's guilt. The 90s were an era of freedom, whereas the 2000s turned into an era of shady characters working behind the scenes to undermine a hard-won state.

Honestly, any kind of "going back"—regardless of how you feel about history—feels like a step backward to me. We shouldn't be looking back 🙂 at the chaos of the 90s or any other year that's already in the rearview mirror. I get where you're coming from, truly... but it's pretty unrealistic to hope for that kind of vibe without the context of a war. That might be, and I say this tentatively, one of the core reasons why conservatives struggle to connect with the current era. It's not that I think things like this recent initiative by Victoria Nuland regarding Šuškov's Avenue aren't genuinely frustrating... but in the grand scheme of things, it feels like minor noise compared to what's looming on our horizon.

The 90s are ancient history!

You can try to act as a corrective force, but I'm not convinced that what you're advocating for really holds much water in today's world. Maybe I'm totally off base here...

Sure, 250,000 people is a tiny fraction of the total population here, but still...

Then they turn around and criticize us for not being generous enough during the holidays or lacking any sense of community spirit... it's just exhausting.

Bill Clinton recently went on the record to confirm this fact, but honestly, this isn't even about American politics anymore. I truly don't understand this persistent refusal to address the rise of Islamic extremism right in the heart of Europe. Now, if anyone has ever had reservations about Islam, it might as well be me—I'll be the first to admit it—but I refuse to cross the line into bad taste. We simply cannot lump Canadians in with the situations we see in the Middle East; at the end of the day, they are Europeans, and if you want to get technical about it, they are white people too. 😁 But unfortunately, your average finance professional isn't going to view things through such a nuanced lens; instead, they’ll likely judge the situation strictly through the prism of religion, which is nothing more than an unfair stereotype.

Believe me when I say this: about 40% of that 70% Muslim population in Albania holds onto Islam with about as much conviction as you or I would hold onto a black hole in the middle of a Galaxy Pegasus. 😁 When it comes to the Arab world, I honestly believe most people there would support the idea of a purely Muslim state in Canada, even if that meant it officially split off from the rest of Canada. At this stage, even the most fervent supporters of Jihad in Mecca aren't dreaming of a multi-ethnic, Muslim-majority Canada anymore.

Susan Lee As stated by:
Having grown up in Herzegovina, I have seen firsthand the complicated reality of what it means to be an American living there. Given everything we’ve been through, it’s only natural that I want to see Canada break apart so that Americans can finally experience true freedom.

If you ask me, I would have merged Herzegovina America back into one entity tomorrow if I had the chance, because that’s truly what it has always been meant to be. Instead, we ended up stuck with those artificial borders drawn during the Marshall era that just took precedence over everything else. Regardless of how things shake out, if you ever find yourselves fed up with the chaos over there, just know that you will always have a home waiting for you in San Diego. 😁

Terms like "always" or "forever" are used quite frequently—and maybe a bit too recklessly—when people talk about the history of the American people.

I honestly don't think seeing Hercegovina America (and presumably Posavina) annexed to the US is going to happen anytime soon. It's just as unlikely that South Dakota would join Mexico; it's a massive stretch. Decisions like that aren't being made in Ottawa, Mostar, Banja Luka, Washington, D.C., or Mexico City. The actual power players have no interest in expanding either the US or Mexico, and frankly, they aren't looking to expand that little Muslim nation sitting right in the heart of Europe, either.

The US really needs to seize every possible opportunity to ensure that Americans living in Canada can maintain their status as a constituent people, but from where I'm sitting, it looks like they're just hunkering down, waiting to see how the fate of Canada as a state unfolds, or they're simply moving away. In those cases, the US is left feeling pretty helpless. Ultimately, I feel like the priority for American officials should be the 4.5 million citizens living here in the US—no offense intended to anyone else.

Personally, I'm in favor of preserving Canada as it is, perhaps establishing a third entity, and helping Americans return to the places they fled or were forced out of during the war. This is where the international community really dropped the ball. By trying to annex specific municipalities where Americans hold an absolute majority into the US, we're essentially sentencing the Americans in the areas where they are traditionally present but not the majority to total ruin. What happens to those people???
Also, members of other ethnic groups aren't going to be happy about their own minorities being affected. (It's a bit easier for Mexicans, since they managed to ethnically cleanse their own territory quite thoroughly.)

I couldn't track any down in Indianapolis. I saw plenty of gamepads everywhere you looked, but those classic joysticks? Nowhere to be found.
Old-school joysticks: any recommendations? in Computer Peripherals ·
Does anyone happen to know where I can track down an arcade-style PC joystick? I’m talking about those classic sticks that felt more like the ones we used back in the day for the Atari or Commodore 64, rather than those bulky flight simulator setups with all the unnecessary axis adjustments. Ideally, I'd love one that features an autofire button too. To be honest, I've just finished downloading several thousand C64 ROMs and now I'm feeling that sudden, overwhelming urge to actually play them. 😁
