Since my old one fried—looking for a decent replacement, ideally cheap, provided it isn't a downgrade from what I had.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/graphics-card-listing here's some used gear for $33 more, but it's definitely worth it,

Maybe an Nvidia GeForce GTS 450, HD 5770, or a 6770 (new).

Better off just stretching out for $17 and grabbing this

It's a hundred times better...

EDIT: Take a look at what else they have in stock for less

Stop talking nonsense... those two down there are bottom-tier cards—you won't be able to play anything with them. Honestly, it's better to stay quiet if you don't have anything smart to say... an HD 4850 crushes a 5670 in every way, especially if you overclock it. Plus, the 5670 only has DX 11, which still isn't enough for modern games on decent settings.

How exactly do you think a card released two years after the HD 4850—and one that costs $100 now—could be significantly better? By any logic, a used 4850 today actually costs more than those two low-end options you mentioned... Either go for a used 4850 or pick up something from the GTS/X 2xx series.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/graphics-card-listing-2746681 Here $147... it even has a warranty.

And obviously, if you're a serious buyer ready to pull the trigger immediately, give them a call and offer $117! If they pass, tell them you'll come pick it up right now... if they offer nothing, just toss $133 their way and they'll probably let you have it. You'll still have $33 left over, so just throw in another $50 to grab a new power supply and call it a day.

Can anyone tell me what this is... http://www.hgspot.com/59100/desktop-pc...w-i102-049679- ??
The graphics card isn't even listed—maybe you guys know? :/
I don't know anything about overclocking, but can I push it to 4 GHz?
Also, can I get $333 a 22-inch monitor with this too??
Will this thing run the latest games like Crysis 2 or Call of Duty: Black Ops on max settings??

I know it's a lot of questions, but I really need some help since I'm clueless about PCs and don't want to waste money on junk
Thanks 😁

You’d have to check the listing, but seeing as it boasts 4GB of RAM and a flashy case with some LEDs and a decent enough CPU... they probably paired it with a cheap, generic GPU and power supply just to make a profit. 👍 Either way, it's definitely not any better than the options the guys mentioned above.

I always butcher the spelling—but yeah, they have an edge in certain games. I just can't bring myself to believe ATI is actually *that* good... out of the six cards I've owned, they all felt pretty mediocre compared to NVIDIA's reference models in the same class.
GPU Buying Guide - (Read first post) in Desktops ·
Times have changed, I guess—my bad... Now you’ve got a GTX running maybe 5-10% faster in things like COD 4 or Dirt 2, while ATI holds the edge elsewhere, or sometimes they're just neck and neck. Personally, I never touch AA settings so I don't know how much that actually matters to him, but he might want to consider overclocking instead of just sticking to the defaults—there's definitely some headroom there... though NVIDIA still has that lead where games utilize PhysX, if I recall correctly.
GPU Buying Guide - (Read first post) in Desktops ·
Basically, NVIDIA has always had the edge—you're looking at maybe a 30% performance hit on ATI's cards when it comes to AA and AF... just grab a GTX instead.

No complaints here—the game runs smooth as silk, unlike that previous 😉

So, Kevin Kim6 was asking what kind of card he could grab from Protis for about a hundred bucks... and Nathan Reyes59 just says go with the GTX 590

It’ll run great with that PSU you've got—plus your CPU is solid enough that they won't bottleneck each other...

Are you kidding me? That card is $1.75??

EVGA Graphics Card 5830
EVGA Graphics Card 5850

It isn't stronger... a 5830 could only beat a 5850 if it was some factory overclocked edition—not this one...

plus, Gilbert gave us the heads-up a few weeks back 🙂

Decent price. I might actually pull the trigger on an upgrade around May—maybe for $500. If I bundle the CPU and GPU, I could probably get under $333... since my current AMD 5200+ and 9800GT setup isn't worth much these days... 😁
New monitors, new resolutions in Computer Peripherals ·
Hey everyone—my monitors are kind of my weak link right now, so I'm looking for something around 22" max since anything bigger won't fit on my desk 😁
I'm running an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 9800 GT with 512MB alongside 4GB of RAM. I'll eventually swap out this AMD Athlon 5200 for a Phenom II, but for now, I just need a recommendation for a monitor that uses DVI or HDMI instead of old-school VGA 🙂 ideally staying under $1000—$400

Also, wondering if this GPU can actually handle 1080p properly... specifically if I can run games at 1920x1080

One Asrock P67 PRO3-B3—it's an Intel P67 board, standard ATX layout, supports 4 slots of DDR3 up to 2133MHz... plus Gigabit LAN. Just the basics...
Just an Intel i5-2500K, 3.3GHz—standard 95W, LGA 1155... nothing fancy.
Just some 8GB of DDR3 Corsair—two 4GB sticks, 1600MHz, 9-9-9-24 timings at 1.5V... nothing special.
Just one 1TB Western Digital Blue—7200 rpm, SATA 3, 32MB cache... nothing fancy...
One EVGA Core edition 80—650W PSU... uses that EasyRail tech.
Just one Thermaltake Armor A60 Midi tower... nothing fancy, just what I've got.
One CORSAIR Air Series A50 CPU cooler—fits LGA 1156 or AM2... just one left.

$1797

Man, if only I had that GTX 590 mentioned above... 😁 Would this rig even run NBA 2K without stuttering... maybe... 🤣 Looks like this guy's back at it—just trolling for no reason again, kind of like that other idiot from a few days ago...

Looking at this i5... damn, you could actually get through GTA 4 on low or mid settings using just that integrated graphics on the chipset—it’s kind of wild. I couldn't even manage that back in the day with my 3870... 😁 I mean, I guess... but we're talking like 20-25fps... barely playable...

Jacob Wilson76 said:uh... please recommend a GPU for this build... $667 needs to actually fit this setup—if you don't know, up to $2000 is fine, maybe even more, just as long as it pairs well with these specs...

Motherboard ASUS ROG Maximus, Intel X58, DDR3, audio, SATA, RAID, G-LAN, PCI-E, SLI, USB 3.0, ATX, socket AM3

Intel Core i7 1055T BOX, socket AM3, 2.8GHz, 9MB cache, Six Core

6 GB G.SKILL 2133MHz RAM

700W SCYTHE Stronger PSU, SPSN-070, 140mm fan

Maybe I'm just being dense, but suggesting an 8600GT for hardware like this feels wrong—unless the guy is just trolling...😁 just a thought...😂

I'm with you on this—but look, the Ice Q is only about 4 bucks more... and honestly, it’s still the best one out there, so it's worth the extra change...

and is a 5670 even worth it—my PSU is just some cheap Codegen 400W that came with the case (basically junk)

oh yeah, this is the motherboard:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...?pid=2611&dl=1

does the PCIe 2.0 vs 2.1 thing matter, other than the actual speed the card runs at?

Best cooling is http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/item-detai...cts_id=3727481 and honestly, best performance too... That Codegen might hold up, I guess... Motherboard is fine, doesn't matter if it's 2.0 or 2.1 for this...

Roger Phillips82 said:Can you find me a power supply that can handle a 5770 for $50?

I picked up a Seasonic 520w for $190 back when I could still use the installment plans at Best Buy—easy life... Later, I just slapped in an Nvidia 9800gt and called it a day. Now I just need a quad-core CPU for maybe 800-$333 before finally upgrading the GPU and being done with it. Don't skimp on the power supply... trust me, you'll regret it later.
