Child sexual abuse: How to spot the signs? in Psychology ·
Drew Morgan said:It’s common enough—just kids playing around. But clearly, you're still carrying the weight of it. I don't think it was even about the sexual undertones. If people had treated you that way in any other context—forcing their will on you or barking orders during a game you weren't even enjoying—you would have been traumatized regardless. What happened here was straight-up bullying.

Your nephew completely lost his mind when he confronted his daughter just because he’s unrefined. Now the kid might be left with trauma thanks to his reckless outburst. It's a clear case of poor parenting. 😢

Regarding your last question, try talking it out with your niece. I suspect he won't take it well, but go ahead—treat it like a social experiment.

This is hands down the best explanation/take I've seen so far.

I mean, when kids hit puberty and start exploring things on their own, that’s just part of growing up
kids are curious, they're just figuring life out
but this kind of thing... especially with a family member.....

and yeah, if she felt uncomfortable during that little game then we definitely need to talk about whether that counts as abuse.....

Honestly guys, maybe do a little more reading before dropping statements like that.
Even toddlers around two years old start self-stimulating—basically exploring their own sexuality—though they don't have any concept of what "sexuality" even means. To them, it’s just play.
That’s actually how it should be; kids need that space to play and learn about themselves.
And look, this doesn't just happen within families. It happens with playmates and friends too, but since American parents tend to hang out most with their extended family, it often looks like it's happening among relatives.

From what I recall, one of the kids got sick—like, her organs started failing—so Fritzl ended up taking her to the hospital. That’s when she finally had the chance to spill everything about what was going on.
I can't quite remember if it was one of the girls from the basement or one from upstairs, though.

Nowadays, with divorce being so common, women really need to be independent. Not that I'm trying to sound like some feminist activist here.😁
But seriously, I couldn't respect a woman who just stayed home and had nothing to talk about.👎

Sometimes you can really act like a jerk, granitefalcon26.
The stay-at-home era will end once men actually start working again.
Until then, there's a point in life where a woman should take on the homemaker role while the man acts as the provider.
That’s assuming, obviously, that they actually want kids.
Just because I'm 27 and still waiting on my third child—while currently busy raising my other two—doesn't mean I'm someone you can't hold a conversation with.
I had my first daughter when I was 25.
By the time I hit 25, I had already checked off so many boxes, things some people don't manage to do in an entire lifetime... and in my case, it wasn't just about finishing college or landing a job, it was way more significant than that.
Can stress actually cause weight gain? in Psychology ·
For me, my mental health was the absolute driver behind my weight fluctuations. There was this period where my anxiety got so bad that I turned to stress eating like crazy, basically living off whatever was in the pantry, and I ended up gaining 20 pounds in just a single year. Then, when that same nervous energy hit a breaking point, I couldn't even look at food for days on end, which led to me dropping 15 pounds in five months. It’s wild how much your head dictates what your body does... honestly, there's no other way to put it.
In what situations do you guys get angry? in Psychology ·
It’s like when things don't go exactly according to their script, and suddenly they just lose it—they start coming at you from every direction like a pack of starving wolves.

I’m actually on Faverin instead of Lexapro rather than
. For about three weeks straight, I felt like absolute garbage—dizzy spells, constant nausea, heart palpitations, sweating buckets, and this weird tingling sensation in my hands, feet, tongue, even my teeth... honestly, it felt like I was checking off every single side effect listed in the manual. To make matters worse, my panic attacks and anxiety spiked by like 300 percent during that period.
After those first three weeks, everything finally settled down, except for the night sweats. But if I'm being totally real with you, I couldn't care less about the side effects... I've been battling anxiety since I was sixteen years old, and I would give anything just to feel normal. Honestly, compared to the mental struggle, the physical stuff is nothing.
I’ve been on it for four months now and it’s working great. Every once in a while, when things get super stressful, I still get that feeling where I can't quite catch my breath, but overall, it's been a lifesaver.
Seeking support for suicidal thoughts in Psychology ·
rapidgull3 said:How does someone deal with suicidal thoughts being on their mind every single day?

Honestly, you should talk to someone who’s actually been through the ringer—someone who was right on the edge, tried to go through with it, but then caught a second wind and decided to stay. Or, even better, grab a coffee with an EMT or a paramedic who spends their shifts responding to calls like this. Most of the time, those people end up being anything but dead; they're just humans fighting really hard to find a reason to keep going.
btw...it happens to me too, and honestly, it’s been happening for a while now...sometimes it drives me nuts, but other times it’s actually pretty cool...it all just depends on what we're talking about. Most of the time, it feels like this abstract clash of opposites—usually black and white, though occasionally there's some color involved. Sometimes it hits you through sound, sometimes it doesn't...honestly, it's kind of a blast if you let it
It’s kind of similar to how people describe astral projection... you should definitely try googling some stuff about it. We all have the potential to actually travel there consciously, but it only happens once we really nail down the technique. Something pretty much identical to this (not gonna say "just like this," but you get what I mean) happens on a subconscious level too. It usually just happens for a split second when our focus slips, which lets us dip our toes into it semi-consciously. Kids find it way easier because they haven't been bogged down by psychological baggage like we have, and you see similar things happening during high fevers for the exact same reason. I'm not saying this is the absolute smoking gun, but you can definitely connect the dots yourself if you look into it.
