Goodness, what a mess... honestly, just a total headache. I’m actually quite lucky—I don't have a mother-in-law to contend with—but instead, I have my own parents, who, quite frankly, believe they are the ultimate authorities on everything under the sun. I am twenty-three years old, yet she insists it is far too early for me to consider having a child—as if I haven't the slightest inkling of how life works—despite the fact that she had me when she was only nineteen herself. Then there is the constant commentary regarding finances—how we "aren't buying anything" because heaven knows who might decide to gift something for a christening later on. It is such an absurd line of reasoning; am I supposed to wait until a baptism occurs to see if someone feels like bringing over a stroller or a gift basket? And in the meantime, I suppose the baby will just sleep on the floor! It makes no sense—if people truly intend to give something, they should simply buy it, rather than making these strange, passive proclamations. I have already told her that I plan to purchase whatever is necessary, especially since I don't intend to stop at just one child. But of course, she immediately went to discuss it with my father, claiming I am being "immature"—arguing that it is too difficult to give everything to one child, let alone more—while lecturing me about how "tough times" are. It is exhausting. Honestly, looking back at how they managed to put the three of us through school on my father’s meager salary and those odd little side jobs... I can't help but think that with the combined income from my husband and me—which is easily double what they had—we will be perfectly fine. If I could just snap my fingers and fix all this tension, I would.
Lawrence Perez4 said:Oh my goodness, ladies, I haven't even taken a test yet... and honestly, for the first time, I’m actually feeling a little nervous 😢 because, well, the thought of seeing a negative result is just daunting... Even though we aren't actively trying to conceive right now—since we still have some big life milestones to settle, like our wedding and finding the right house—my partner told me tonight how incredibly happy he would be if I were pregnant, and now, suddenly, I want it even more than before. 😍 I mean, I always knew he’d be thrilled, but now I’ve found myself swept up in all these emotions again... 🙄
I think I'll finally head out to buy a test tomorrow... I know that's the only way to truly clear my head. But part of me just wants someone to tell me I'm not losing my mind or imagining things entirely.
To give you some context, I was explaining in my previous posts why I started suspecting something might be happening. First off, I had about three days of very light spotting—just a bit of pinkish discharge—which sounded exactly like what people describe as implantation bleeding, and the timing seemed to line up perfectly. After those three days, everything down there felt completely normal again.
Then, over the last ten days or so, I’ve had this constant, nagging urge to snack on something... the moment I stop eating, I get hit with this intense hunger and a strange sensation in my stomach, almost as if I haven't eaten all day. It’s even been keeping me awake at night! And normally, I'm not much of a glutton; I tend to eat quite moderately, sometimes even too little, which is probably why I'm only around 110 pounds. 😁 I wouldn't say I'm experiencing classic morning sickness, but rather this vague, undefined feeling in my stomach... it's a little uncomfortable, but not quite to the point where I feel like I'm going to be sick.
My period is also about a week late now. My cycle can be pretty irregular quite often, so being late isn't necessarily a huge sign on its own, but when you combine it with everything else, I can't help but wonder... Lately, my abdomen has been cramping like I'm about to start my period any second, but from what I've read, many women report similar sensations during early pregnancy.
And I don't know if this is totally irrelevant, but for the past ten days, my right nipple has been itching intermittently 🤣 about 90% of the time. The left one only does it occasionally, and they never seem to itch at the exact same time.
So, please tell me, am I just being completely delusional, or is there a genuine chance that I could be pregnant??
I promise, I'll take the test before the Yule log 😁😉
This all sounds somewhat promising... I'll put the test under the sunlight today or tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed!!😉
Harold Cook2 said:That is just straight-up gross.... seriously. And man, that feeling when you hear that little heartbeat for the first time? There's nothing like it. I used to tear up every single time at the start of my pregnancies.... What kind of OB is that? Are you even paying for Blue Cross? My doctor takes $33 from me every time, but she always hands over at least 2, 3, or 4 photos
Well, I don't pay anything extra—even though I don't carry supplemental insurance—but then again, my friend didn't have any either. Though, she did mention that her doctor doesn't perform them, yet hers does... it feels a bit pointless, if you ask me. It hit me pretty hard because this is my first baby, and I find myself constantly obsessing over every little thing online—I just feel this desperate need to know every tiny detail about the process... 😁 When my husband saw how upset I was, he told me he'd drive me straight to a different OBGYN right away, but I eventually calmed down... besides, my doctor is based out of Arlington...
Honestly, I found myself feeling quite irritated today after realizing my prenatal records mention hearing the baby's heartbeat and the exact length of the little one—details my OBGYN hasn't actually shared with me at all. She didn't say a word, let alone show me anything; she just typed it into her computer, noted it in my chart, and told me the baby looks perfectly healthy... which is fine, I suppose, but still. When I gathered the courage to ask if I could perhaps have a photo, she flatly refused, claiming she doesn't provide them and that I’d have to go see a specialist at a private clinic—which apparently costs about $133. To make matters worse, when I found out she gave every single photo and even let my friend listen to the heartbeat, I just broke down—I was crying like it was a rainy day in Seattle. It feels like such a disaster, especially since I had been looking forward to these milestones so much.
Olivia Sullivan68 said:Ladies, I am actually going to lose my mind!!! ...after what felt like an endless, exhausting marathon of "negotiations," my husband and I finally had our first unprotected encounter two weeks ago... then about a week later, I started running to the bathroom every five minutes just to pee three drops, my appetite went totally haywire—I’ve been eating like there’s no tomorrow—and lately, I’ve been checking my temperature constantly, and it’s consistently sitting at a weirdly high 99.5 F... so naturally, I started spiraling. On top of all that, the day before yesterday, I started getting these intense pains—sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right—and trust me, my usual period cramps don't feel anything like this... honestly, with everything happening, I was convinced I might be pregnant, but I figured I couldn't even take a test for another 4 or 5 days. Well, I went out this morning and grabbed a Clearblue, and wouldn't you know it... the + came back as an 8) ... so I did another one, just to be absolutely certain, using a Grainger test, and it showed a faint, but definitely visible, line!!! So, I AM PREGNANT!!! I need to get to my OBGYN immediately!!! ...sorry for the massive vent, I just really needed to share this with someone other than my husband, and I've heard it's not wise to tell anyone we know until we're at least 6 or 7 weeks along, and I'm not even at week 2 yet!!! Ugh, now I'm just freaking out about the whole situation!!! I just hope this little plus sign sticks... hopefully my husband did his job right!!! 😁
I used a Grainger test once too, but it was negative two days before my period was due, and then on the actual day of my period, it showed a very, very faint line.. 😁 I waited a week and took it again, and the lines were as clear as day.. Fingers crossed that you are pregnant and that everything turns out perfectly! 😉
To my dear friends living in Washington, D.C. and the surrounding areas—I simply must recommend the pastries from Auntie Stephanie over in St. Helena... they are absolutely, positively divine. Honestly, we practically polished off the entire batch; everyone who had a bite was raving about them! It is such a shame she doesn't offer smaller delivery orders—anything under 22 pounds, for instance—because I would love nothing more than to order a fresh supply right now for the Christmas holidays..
Kate Gonzalez said:Down here in San Francisco, we're seeing pastries for just 35-$13/lb!!!!!!
Is flour actually more expensive in Washington, D.C.?
And it really seems that way... haha... honestly, it's wild... right in the heart of D.C., you won't find anything for less than $27/lb—and even then, they aren't particularly great... but, surprisingly, for those folks living outside the D.C. area who hold their professional certifications, it's totally worth it to price them at 50 $20/lb because the quality is top-tier, plus they offer free delivery.. 😁
Scott Perez62 said:I actually got a recommendation from another lady on this forum who ordered these exact same treats from her, so we went out to try them and they are honestly such incredible pastries (she lives over in Saint Helena) and she even offers delivery, so just like I mentioned before, if anyone wants the details I can definitely pass along her number.
By the way, does she happen to have a website or an online shop? If not, would you mind terribly sending me her contact info—you know, her name, phone number, and her exact location?🙂

You know what—honestly, this whole thing where they price a cake based on individual slices feels absolutely ridiculous to me... It’s just absurd. In principle, if you order one standard round cake, they tell you it serves 20 people—meaning 20 slices—but then when they actually get to the venue, they cut the slices nearly in half! So suddenly that same cake is being stretched to feed 40 people. I have never, ever received a slice at an event that was even remotely close to the size of a slice you’d get at a proper local bakery; it's always practically half the size. Anyway, I am expecting somewhere between 220 and 250 guests, and according to their math, I would need 11 to 13 cakes. And each of those cakes costs anywhere from 220 to $90, maybe even more if you want any special decorations or custom work... I have been to plenty of weddings—quite large ones, actually—and I don't think I've ever seen anyone serve more than six average round cakes, yet everyone gets a piece regardless of whether there are 100 or 250 guests present. So, who exactly is the crazy one here?
Brenda Cooper2 said:Hey everyone! Sophia, when's the big wedding? I was actually considering ordering sweets from them, but I have zero clue if they're any good and I'm too chicken to pull the trigger without a solid recommendation.....
Mine is set for October 16th. If you're unsure, just grab the number listed on their website and head down there to sample a few—or, you know, just order a couple of pounds to bring home for a little excuse to treat yourself...😁
Good grief!!$40/lb... honestly, are they making these cookies out of solid gold or something? I’m planning to have mine made at Sweet Treats Bakery for $20/lb, and they even offer free delivery—they'll bring them right to my apartment in NYC or even out to a hall in a Suburban US city—even though they're based in a Small town USA. We tried their treats back during Christmas and Easter, and let me tell you, they are absolutely delicious..

That cake looks amazing... and I couldn't help but notice—it seems you picked out the exact same wedding dress I bought for myself! 😉
It isn't just that her cakes look absolutely incredible—her entire setup is just stunning... truly gorgeous!! I actually went ahead and sent her a friend request; if she accepts, I’m hoping we can chat about having her handle the dessert for my wedding... By any chance, do you have an idea of what her general pricing looks like for something like that?
