Question: "How much more of this can we take?"
I feel like I’ve heard that phrase so many times lately that my patience is honestly starting to wear thin in a few different ways.
It seems like everyone and their mother is constantly complaining about the conditions in our public hospitals, and then there’s the endless stream of unsolicited advice telling me I better find some high-end private clinic connection before I go into labor or I'll be totally out of luck. 🤦 I mean, look, I’m fully aware that the healthcare system isn't exactly perfect right now, but seriously, can't people just give me a little breathing room?
Lately, I’ve been getting a little bit worked up by all the unnecessary commentary surrounding my swollen feet. It’s always the same thing: "Oh my goodness, look how swollen your legs are!" or "Wow, your feet look so puffy!" As if it were some massive revelation, right? I mean, hello, I’m pregnant, so of course there's going to be some swelling! 🙄
Regarding people cutting in line or jumping ahead, women definitely still hold the title for being the most impatient. I actually had one gentleman on the subway who looked ready to run me over just so he could snag a spot closer to the door.

And oh man, that specific phrase, "come back to life"... 🙂
Every single time I would mention feeling nauseous, if I ever admitted to it, someone would always chime in with some comment about how it would all stop once the baby finally "came back to life." 🙂
Honestly, my husband’s grandmother is driving me absolutely up the wall when it comes to the gender of our baby.
From the very beginning, she has been dead set on the idea that we're having a boy, and it feels like she’s just sucking the life out of me with it.
Even now that we actually know it’s going to be a girl, she refuses to let the subject drop.
Just the other day, she pops over and asks if it’s going to be a boy, and I told her—for the tenth time now—that it isn't. Does she ever listen? Not even for a second! Within five minutes, she’s right back at it, asking what we’ve decided to name our little son. 🙂
There was one moment where I seriously considered telling her to just get lost, but then I took a breath and reminded myself that I shouldn't let one old lady get under my skin, you know? I really need to just stay calm and focus on what actually matters right now.
It’s certainly possible, though it isn't a guarantee.
Thank God we have diagnostic tests and gynecologists to turn to, right? There isn't much we can do to help you from this side of the screen, but I will say this: if there is any way at all, please try to handle this responsibly now.
As far as I'm concerned, this is usually the rule of thumb when people decide to skip protection and then end up complaining later because they've completely messed up their own lives. ☕
Honestly, that’s exactly what keeps me up at night. It feels like most people just don't pay any attention, or if they do, they simply couldn't care less about what's happening.
Man, I totally get what you mean about the subway. Personally, maybe two or three times in my life has someone actually offered me their seat, even though I’m commuting almost every single day right during peak rush hour. Honestly, it isn't even the standing part that gets to me, it's the constant shoving; it feels like people would literally fight to the death just to squeeze into a tiny bit of space, wouldn't they? 🙂 Not to mention those rides when the bus is absolutely packed with high school kids. 😠
I happen to have low blood pressure, and there have been plenty of times where I’ve felt like I was about to pass out completely. There hasn't been a single public transit trip where that hasn't happened at least once, especially when you combine the summer heat and the crowds with a hundred different smells—including things like garbage 😬.
So, I just find myself praying that I don't feel too faint while I'm on board.
It's always funny how some older ladies will lecture me afterward, asking why I didn't just speak up and say I was feeling weak so they could give me their seat. But then, whenever I actually *do* try to say something, all I get is some judgmental comment about how "young people these days" have no stamina or whatever. 🙂

😂
For me, the absolute best part is when I'm heading toward the register, someone comes from the opposite direction, takes one look at my belly to size me up, and then just sprints right past me to cut in front of the line!😠

The only one who gave me a hard time was my mother-in-law this past Sunday; she goes, "So, did your hips widen a little bit after all?"
I just shot her a look and told her no—it’s just the dress, especially since I'm still wearing my old underwear...
Honestly, she's just jealous because her 22-year-old daughter ended up looking like a balloon after her pregnancy...☕
And don't even get me started on all this obsession with weight.
When I was up at the trauma center right after the accident, some condescending doctor decided to ask me exactly how far along I was, so I told him six months, and then he actually had the audacity to ask if I was basing that on my OBGYN's word or just my own intuition. I told him it was the doctor, of course, and then he proceeded to lecture me on the standard duration of a pregnancy as if he were trying to figure out if my gynecologist was incompetent or something.🙄
Then, out of nowhere, he turns to me and says, "You should really be ashamed!" I just sat there looking at him, totally bewildered by his arrogance, while he kept going on about how shameful it was that my stomach looked so small at six months—basically implying I was underweight, questioning where the baby even was, and suggesting I should just start eating more. Honestly, I felt like grabbing something nearby and throwing it at him.
To top it all off, some guy at the ER actually had the gall to ask about my sex life, and when I told him I didn't see how that was any of his business, he started lecturing me on how "real men" treat women. I swear, I wanted to smack him right then and there if I hadn't been such a total wreck from everything else going on.😁
It feels like every single time I go in for an ultrasound, they tell me it's the wrong gender, but now we’ve finally settled on it being a girl, and honestly, I really hope it stays that way because I am so ready to dive into all things pink! 😁
🙂To be honest, I don't even care about the gender as long as everything turns out healthy and perfect.
The only thing on my mind right now is that I should probably start picking up some baby essentials soon, though in a complete act of defiance against the trends, I am planning to buy almost zero neutral colors.
😠But if I'm being totally real, what's actually driving me crazy at the moment is this constant, nagging heartburn—good grief!

Do I need to call ahead and order, or can we just swing by and ask to try whatever you've got on the menu?😁 How does it work?
Well, we actually gave them a call and explained that we were planning a wedding and were looking for the perfect desserts, so we asked if we could stop in to taste their selection if that wasn't too much trouble. The lady there told us we could come right away, so we headed over, and she was kind enough to put together that special wedding tasting sampler for us—we even got to take some home!
I’ve actually dealt with that exact same thing myself, and my doctor spotted it right at the very start of my pregnancy. I’m already six months along now, and honestly, I haven't run into any issues because of it, nor has my doctor made a huge deal out of the situation. Of course, complications are always a possibility, but isn't it true that they can happen even with a standard uterus? I really feel like there's no point in dwelling on the "what ifs" when you can just focus on staying positive and taking good care of 😉

It drives me nuts when I answer a question about what we're naming the baby (and let's face it, I'll be sick of that question soon enough 😁), only to get a reaction like, "Oh my god, nooo, that was the name of some girl in my middle school who always had a runny nose!" Seriously, who cares about their random childhood memories when it comes to picking a name?!
Big thanks to everyone for all the "constructive" advice you're so generously showering on a poor soul like me who clearly hasn't a clue. 🙄
Ever since the day we told my mother-in-law that we were leaning toward naming him Alexander, she hasn't stopped nagging us about how it sounds too traditional or old-fashioned, constantly checking in to see if we've changed our minds and throwing out a dozen different ideas. We just try to tune her out, but sometimes I feel like I'm really close to losing my cool and giving her a piece of my mind. 🤣 It feels like she's been nitpicking everything from the very beginning, and she only seems happy when things end up going exactly her way.
Edward Mendoza3 said:Another question regarding the pastries at Mark Twain? What’s your take on their cakes?
Personally, I think they are absolutely delicious, though I swear I can barely breathe after eating their Canadian cream cake or that one fruit pastry—I can never quite remember the name of it! 🤣
My dad actually used to work for them, so he was constantly bringing home treats, and honestly, who could be happier than me in that situation? I even told him right away that I wanted to use their cakes for my wedding someday, and since my fiancé loved them too, there wasn't even a debate; we decided on it the moment it was mentioned. 😁
We’re planning on picking up both the cake and some pastries from Mark Twain’s bakery. My old man used to work down that way a while back and was always bringing home treats, and honestly, they are just delicious; my husband and I ended up devouring them all at the local fair! 🙈
At least I won't have to stress about that part, because I think I would actually lose my mind if I had to worry about one more thing on top of everything else 😂
Honestly, this constant nausea is driving me absolutely insane—it feels like it’s going to be the death of me if it doesn't let up soon! 🙂
I’ve been dealing with this for three months now, and I still find myself spending way too much time hunched over the toilet bowl. The absolute worst part is when that sick feeling just lingers all day long without letting me actually get anything up, leaving me to pay the price the next morning when everything finally catches up with me. 😂
On top of all that, my sleep schedule is completely shot; I feel like I could sleep forever, and at this rate, someone is probably going to have to drag me out of bed with a megaphone just to get me moving... 🤣
