Anyone else feeling completely unmotivated lately? in Psychology & Therapy ·
I used to "mess around" with OCD tendencies back in the day. I’d find myself counting lines on the road while riding shotgun, or tapping patterns on the floor—stuff like that—but I eventually moved past it. 🕺 I was never actually diagnosed with it officially, though.
What's on my official record is F-16.2 (Mixed Anxiety and Depressive Disorder) plus burnout syndrome, according to my psychologist (who, by the way, I'm seeing twice a week right now).
As far as I know, Fever is what they use for depression—a buddy of mine takes it.
And you mean you don't even know why you're feeling so unmotivated? Man, that’s honestly the worst part. When you actually know what's eating at you, you can start tackling it... otherwise, you're just stuck :/

I'm currently on Sulpiride—100 mg a day (splitting it into one 50 mg dose in the morning and another in the afternoon). Is it possible this is making me drowsy, even if it isn't supposed to? I've been sleeping from, say, 11 PM until about 8 or 9 AM, plus a nap for an hour or two in the afternoon. It’s just this constant lethargy weighing me down.
Man, unless you're getting really old, it won't hit you that hard. And don't give me that "it just happened out of nowhere" or "when I least expected it" stuff 🤮
Psychosomatic pain is the real deal. My spine, my neck, my arms... it feels like I've been lugging around two heavy cases of Budweiser all day. It can stay like that for hours. Even getting cramps in my legs and everything.

So, if I've got this right, you have OCD? How does that actually make you feel unmotivated? I totally get that it's bothersome, but how does it drain your will to do anything?

Honestly? Not really... I feel like I’m just slowly falling apart more and more every single day. Even if you granted my every wish—it wouldn't change who I am. On my last birthday, I actually prayed to just pass away.
I've tried tweaking the little things. I tried changing my sleep schedule, what I eat, how I hang out with people, studying, relaxing—zero results. I've tried all sorts of tiny adjustments. I thought maybe it would just pass on its own. Once I finally finished school—back to square one almost immediately. Moved into a new apartment—right back to where I started. Every one of those little wishes that actually came true—it was just the old me again... Even now, being almost done with my braces—still nothing.
That’s the worst part—there isn't even any "concrete" thing bothering me. Okay, fine, I'm single, but that's no reason to feel this way. 😁

Man, I hear you. That's just how it goes. All that happiness and then—poof—nothing lasts forever. I don't put my faith in anything anymore; I just hope. *Dum spiro, spero.*
I'm putting my trust in new breakthroughs in medicine, pharmacology, and maybe a bit of luck if the stars align. Because, for instance, I am EXHAUSTED. I'd sleep ten hours at night and then still need another hour or two or three during the day. My body just aches constantly, and I can't even focus on studying right now. It just leaves me feeling completely drained of any willpower...

I get why you're waiting. When you're waiting, you think something is actually going to arrive or go away. But unfortunately, that's just an illusion. Are you just going through the motions? Like, you get things done, but with absolutely zero emotion behind it.

Yeah... the worst part is—I honestly don't know what's triggering it. I mean, I know the diagnosis, but finding the actual root cause? Still a mystery. There’s no "obvious" reason for it either—nothing like a death in the family, a brutal year, or some physical illness. That’s what really kills me. Especially when my whole body just starts aching, and aching, and aching... until I'm literally crying from the pain.
That total lack of drive, that feeling where you just can't do anything... it eventually spirals into pure frustration 🙂

It's exactly the same for me. On the outside, everything looks fine—everything seems perfectly okay. And that just makes me hate myself even more 🤮

How to be a good person without being a doormat in Psychology ·
Honestly, I’d call this more about being shady than "taking advantage." The guy who sold everything off is just being dishonest—he should have just gifted your stuff, but instead, he did what he did.
I remember once giving someone some wired earbuds from my phone, and the idiot basically flipped them for cash the very same day. Man, he wouldn't have even earned a tip from me... and then he has the nerve to act all "proud" of himself, too.

I don't think everyone who does something kind is secretly running numbers in their head, it's just that people feel pretty crappy when they do something nice and the other person doesn't even bother with a "thanks." You shouldn't expect to be "indebted" immediately, but a little gratitude goes a long way. Purely psychologically speaking, they say the person doing the favor actually feels better than the one receiving it. 😁

Just do what you feel is right, and if someone screws you over—well, that's on their conscience. Just learn a lesson from it (like, maybe hand-deliver a TV next time instead of leaving it to a middleman).

It reminds me of this one time when a buddy was really sick, and I was constantly stopping by his place to help out. I genuinely wanted to be there for him. Later on? He acts like nothing ever happened. A simple "hey, thanks" would have been plenty. So, it's not necessarily about being used, it's more about the lack of basic decency later on—just an example. It’s hard to believe people can't even say hi. 🤦

I don't feel like I was taken advantage of, per se, but it definitely stings when you act with basic decency and the other person just isn't decent at all. It hurts.

Being Ignored in Psychology ·
Honestly, getting worked up over this stuff is just a waste of energy. The best move? Just give them that same cold shoulder back. I mean, sure, you have to figure out if they were actually ignoring you on purpose. If someone’s got their AirPods in and is power-walking down the sidewalk, they might’ve genuinely missed you. It actually happened to me once—this woman and her husband walked right past me (we even made eye contact!), but she ended up texting me later to say they were in such a rush with her man that she didn't realize she'd snubbed me. She told me not to take it personally, and honestly, I wasn't even offended because I could tell they were totally in a hurry.
On the flip side, being ignored used to really get under my skin, but I'm over it now. There was this one guy I helped out for years while he was dealing with health issues, and then four or five times he’d pass me by without even a nod. Fine. You don't want to help? Cool, I won't be looking out for you either.☕
Take my dad, for example—it really bothers him when the neighbors don't say hi. But if they snub me two or three times? I don't even bother looking their way anymore.☕
Personally, I still make an effort to be friendly and at least say hey, but that’s mostly just because of how I was raised—you know, that whole "always be polite and greet everyone" lecture from the older generation.

I agree that ignoring people is just plain rude. But really, it says everything about *them*, not you. Just ignore them and move on.☕
And why would you even force a greeting on someone who treats you like—well, like nothing?🕺
At the end of the day, you know who your actual friends are, you know who your neighbors are, and you know who's just some random acquaintance.

I can't help but get the impression you almost enjoy being in such bad shape. Seriously though—do you actually want to feel better?

Look, when I say I don't eat vegetables, I mean things like Brussels sprouts, beets, asparagus, spinach, and stuff like that. You know, the cooked, steamed, or fried kind... just tossed in as some casual side dish. Honestly? It’s just bland to me! Now, a green salad is fine because it actually makes the meat taste better. But bananas, apples, and all that fruit stuff? No thanks...
Are you really going to count a little bit of lettuce in a kebab 🤦 or some onions on a burger
as "eating vegetables"? Or maybe squeezing a little lemon over some fried chicken counts as getting your Vitamin C? 🤔

All I care about is being productive and not feeling like my body is constantly dragging me down. That's it. That's the whole goal. Because when you're in pain, you just can't get anything done.

Sorry if my food definitions aren't surgically precise. 🙂
Feeling weak and run down in Health ·
I should’ve been finished by now—really, I should—but here I am, still dragging my feet right at the finish line. And this is supposed to be my absolute top priority. Honestly, I’m pretty embarrassed that I’m not done yet. It’s like back in college, I’d schedule wisdom tooth extractions right before finals or pull threads out right after exams... and what did that get me? Almost three semesters wasted because you just hit a wall for a week or so. That’s exactly what’s happening now. I know, I know, I'm being irresponsible, but man... what can you do?
I'm currently loading up on vitamins. From what I hear, people call them "expensive urine." Should I just stick to Coca-Cola? 😬
The headaches and blood pressure issues are actually a much bigger deal than just feeling weak. The real kicker is when the pressure spikes and the rain starts hitting—that’s when I totally crash. I absolutely have to lie down for 30 minutes, an hour... it’s total paralysis.
And then there’s this heatwave coming in... 😱
Things are shifting a bit now, though. Even if I slept through the night, I feel like I need to go lie down for a nap.
It’s this heavy sensation that just drains you—starting from your head, moving down to your neck, shoulders, arms, and all the way to your legs. It feels like that specific kind of weakness you get when you’re drifting off to sleep and suddenly realize you have to pee, but you physically can't move.
It's just like having a literal ton of bricks sitting on your back.

Okay, right now, my soul just hurts, and somehow that manifests as physical pain in my lower extremities. Every single bone aches. I can actually pinpoint that connection. And there isn't a pill in the world that fixes that.

I’ll head out after July 5th. Nothing is getting done until then. To be honest, I’m not even afraid of death—I don't give a damn about that. What really eats at me is this total lack of productivity because of the pain. Plus the weakness. The ringing in my ears. The loss of appetite. And this sudden, overwhelming exhaustion that just hits you out of nowhere.

Not quite this extreme, though—not right along the edges. Sometimes, after eating... well, it varies. And just rinsing with water. My doctor at the Mayo Clinic actually told me I should head over to the university hospital to have them take a real look. 😬

Look, I get that it's bad, but man, it’s such a rush. I drink too much and for way too long—I know, I know. But honestly, it's my instant fix. It's the same way I act when I've gone overboard on greasy food. I'll crush a burger or a kebab and it just "lifts" me up. Same thing with a Cola. Or like, when I'm talking to this girl—you know the type—she keeps pulling me in, then makes me feel like an absolute idiot by canceling two dates in a row on her own terms. I'm sitting there just absolutely fuming inside. Then I grab a Cola, and like a phoenix rising, I'm back. I can't even focus on studying, but after one glass—man, I feel like a god... knowledge just flows right in 😂 that's why I do it.
And the stress? It just crushes me. I'll drop a few pounds right before an exam. Even my professor asked if I was doing alright... and I've never even met the guy before.
Yesterday, I saw my ribs in the mirror, looked like I was out in Africa 🙂

At least I'm sleeping less now. I used to sleep like 12 hours straight.

I mean, I know I ought to go, but you know how it is—you finally get an appointment with your doctor, and you realize you need a few follow-up checks. If I went now, she’d probably just scream at me. I just can't deal with it right now. I simply can't... I know it's irresponsible, but whatever.

Does salad even have Vitamin C? All I really eat is green leaf, iceberg, radishes, arugula, and green onions. Always paired with meat, obviously. So, basically, I eat it every other day 😁
Feeling weak and run down in Health ·
I’d love to, really, but honestly? That might be the last bit of joy I have left in this life. And man, it's hard to let go... I know it's bad for me, but I just love it too much. It's like—I don't even touch coffee, or cigarettes, or booze.
I have no clue what the number actually is. I just don't have the luxury of time to go see a doctor right now, at least not until May 7th.
I don't eat any veggies. As for fruit? I can't even bring myself to slice it up because of my glucose monitor. It’s mostly just chicken and potatoes. Everything is fried in grease or oil—nothing except French fries.
On top of all that, I’ve been feeling pretty low mentally, and honestly, the last ten days have been even harder because of it.
I don't take any pills. Well, except for some Klavocin I had to take for an ear infection after ending up in the ER...
The weight is dropping again.

I can't believe I've fallen this far. I went from working out every single day and winning medals to being a total wreck physically. A dog could practically chew me up.
Feeling weak and run down in Health ·
Let me know what’s going on because I’m curious too. I’ve been dealing with this constant weakness for a while now. Sometimes it feels psychological—you know, when I’m feeling down and that heavy mood just washes over me, I can recognize it.
But then there are times where it’s definitely not mental. Like, whenever the weather shifts, I am absolutely wiped out. Literally, I can’t even walk; I have to lie down and crash for two hours just to feel human again. I actually fell asleep on a bench at a local park once, and honestly, I don't even remember how 😱. Sometimes it feels like my heart is barely beating, or my breathing gets all shallow. I get pale as a ghost sometimes—even my orthodontist commented on how rough I look... and my grandma was like, "Honey, you look terrible. What is wrong with you?"
I went for blood work and a urine sample a few days ago, and everything came back totally fine.
The weight comes back so slowly; it takes months just to put on 2 or 3 pounds—and then right before finals week, I lose it all. At 5'10", I'm barely hitting 130 lbs.🙂 And everyone keeps giving me grief about it. It's annoying as hell...
I had a quick heart checkup once. I ramped up my workouts way too fast, and they caught something during a routine physical. It seemed okay at the time, but they said I should follow up occasionally (though I haven't really gone back since)
Because man, it is awful when you feel this total exhaustion and you just can't function. My ears start ringing, I get this sharp pain in my rebro, and I get so dizzy that looking at the floor makes me feel like I'm high or something—walking becomes a struggle because you aren't steady on your feet. You start sweating and feeling totally disoriented. Actually, when I went in to get a wisdom tooth pulled, I turned white as a sheet; I couldn't even stand up. Two nurses had to practically carry me, and they had to put me on oxygen. Everything went white in front of my eyes, and I seriously thought—finally, I'm dead. 🤣

You are literally helpless, like you have zero control over your own body.

I eat a lot of salty stuff. Not much sugar, though—except for some Cola 😬 So, no cookies or pastries or anything like that.
I stay pretty active. Probably going to be doing even more out in the sun soon.

I got recommended for a bunch of different tests, but if I actually show up at my primary care doctor and say, "Hey, someone told me I need all this and that," I think the doctor would probably faint from the sheer number of referrals she'd have to write. We're talking tongue checks (because it gets weirdly cratered sometimes), thyroid tests because of the weight issues, blood pressure since they think it's too low, then the heart stuff again, and an eye exam every single year. But honestly, I just don't have the luxury of spending all that time at the doctor right now.
Oral surgeon's mistake in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
Look, obviously oral surgery hurts. We aren't talking about a routine blood draw or a quick urine sample here... I was out of commission for almost ten days myself—couldn't even open my mouth, let alone chew, so I wasn't exactly spending three days whining about lawsuits. A refund for what? You’re in pain, so naturally, you want your money back. No offense, but lol... what would people say who are recovering for weeks or even months? It's only been three days for you, man. Of course it hurts, and yeah, you're going to be swollen.
Second thing—what is the actual damage here? Did they nick a nerve? Is your face permanently disfigured? Has a doctor declared you disabled? Can you not eat? Can you not speak? I'm being serious. Pain isn't a medical error...
Thirdly—why were you messing with it? You were given instructions, right? As far as I recall, the drill is: don't touch the area, clean it with a Q-tip and that special solution, take some Advil every 4-6 hours, sleep with your head elevated, and brush your teeth after eating.
And most importantly—did you sign a consent form or a waiver for the procedure? 🙂 I sure did... after they explained all the potential side effects.

As for having a root left over... mine wasn't even fully extracted, they just shaved the tooth down. There's still a little bit left inside. Look, I'm alive and kicking.

You need to wait at least seven, maybe even ten days. It hurts. That's just how it works. And the pain can definitely radiate toward your ear. They might even put you on some Augmentin...
Just stick to the instructions so you feel better.

I'd bet anything that in five or six days, you'll be feeling fine. 🙂
