Jerry Robinson56 said:Aha, I wasn’t referring to those who are "normal." My issue is that I tend to overextend myself, which often leads to bouts of carelessness. However, having an ace up my sleeve usually compensates for the damage. It seems a bit easier to manage when dealing with men. But let us move past the milestones of growing up; instead, let us focus on what we actually missed out on. I am not speaking of an emotional blueprint, but rather the practical costs—whether it was waiting for the perfect moment or simply being indecisive. There is a certain merit in remaining true to oneself, regardless of how much distance one maintains from the fray.

It's way easier with men. 😁

For me, bad timing has been the biggest killer. Honestly, these days I find myself consulting the I Ching before I even head to the restroom, let alone making any other life decisions. 😵

but certainly not me; I have to look out for my own heart
and you are merely standing behind the curtain

perhaps you would find some relief if I revealed who is waiting in the lobby 😁
though they haven't been formally introduced yet, they are watching

still, the "all is well" option remains available. It seems fair, doesn't it... much like the old adage that silence is golden.

Let's just say my caution is a bit of a professional hazard. When you spend your time talking to all sorts of people, you quickly realize that some folks aren't worth getting deep with—you don't want to accidentally trip that switch labeled 'normal vs. totally unhinged.' I seem to have this natural knack for spotting exactly where that switch is located and how much pressure it takes to nudge it toward the middle. I used to play around with that concept when I was younger, but even as a kid, I noticed that the switch could flip entirely by accident, just because I happened to be standing near those complicated little machines. So, I eventually realized my best life strategy is to keep my distance, and when I absolutely have to be around people, it's probably best to just be someone else entirely.😁

It was quite obvious, or at least highly probable, though one could argue it was just a joke—even if I am convinced you were operating as a lone wolf there.
In truth, you already compromised your anonymity with that clumsy post on the Forum.

Yet, regardless of how vague the inquiry might seem, it reaches back into a past buried deep within the subconscious.
A long time ago (😁), well before Facebook became the dominant force... back when a first impression was all that mattered.

It would certainly make for an interesting topic on Psych Chat: why certain individuals struggle to be authentic in reality, failing even to unlatch the doors of their own consciousness. You possess enough resilience to actually dare to try...

There’s either no reaction at all, a negative one, or if a positive response finally comes, it’s usually long after I've stopped caring. That last part is what really gets to me. 😁

Jerry Robinson56 said:Since nobody seems willing to volunteer, Mrs. Joseph Bailey41, would you be the first one to step up to the couch? 😁

Regarding enrollment—given that you are an entirely different individual in this first reality—is that a result of the "she thing" instead of "she think" phenomenon (referring to remote viewing)?
The truth is, while things are certainly more straightforward here, the consequences of being misunderstood or unfairly labeled—whether those labels are professional or merely arbitrary—stem directly from poor, or even non-existent, communication.

I've been pretty traumatized ever since someone hacked my Facebook profile and set up a fake account. I honestly find it hard to feel any connection to my online identities anymore. 😢

Indeed, in my experience—work is what defines a man.

I actually heard about someone being paid specifically to stay quiet and not sing... and honestly, you're right, that doesn't sound very human at all. 😁

Betty Fowler said:So how does your boss let you get away with such sloppy work? I mean, you didn't even finish the story...
You deserve to be fired!

Who do you think you are, Trump? 🤣

Besides, I'm on strike because I haven't received a single paycheck yet, and I've put in plenty of hours. ☕

Well... I suppose you could put it that way, too. 🤣 😂 🤣

You're just jealous because my boss likes me more than you. 🙂

Maria Barnes said:And why are you even chiming in? You're clearly out of your mind. No offense. 😁

You haven't seen me when I'm hitting a wall with my 503 errors. 🕺

Maria Barnes said:My advice—without saying which group I belong to—is simple: just pretend you're normal. In a digital space like Reddit, that’s easy enough. Or, if you really need to talk, maybe stick to discussing the weather on Psychology Today. 🙂

I'd suggest the same thing you did, just with a slight twist. 🙂

This thread could serve as a sanctuary or a retreat completely free from psychoanalysis and reality checks. Everyone stays sane!

You can do it!

That wouldn't work. I try that in my actual life all the time. 😁

(It mostly works for me, though they've probably already forgotten that I voted for Dražen Budiša. Twice. 🤦 )

Jerry Robinson56 said:How can those who consider themselves "normal" offer any meaningful assistance to those who feel they are anything but? 🤔 ... Whether the approach should be mutual or one-sided remains to be seen... 🕺

This thread could serve as either a sanctuary or a refuge, provided we indulge in a bit of psychoanalysis and some necessary reality checks.

To be honest, I actually find it kind of comforting when I realize someone else is even more out there than I am. 🕺

Donna White50 said:You want to know what liberalism gave me? A mountain of crap and paraphilias wrapped up in cellophane, disguised as "sexual freedom" and pleasure without any actual boundaries or healthy limits. And now it's being pushed on everyone. You seriously think it's "cool" or okay to be trapped in that? That it's great to be addicted to BDSM stuff because you can't find excitement any other way? That's just a way to live?
It's honestly sad that I even have to bring this up, and it's sad that anyone can just wreck their healthy sexuality like that. If someone looks into certain things or searches online, they'll see everywhere saying it's wrong. Even you know it's wrong for a kid to be exposed to that kind of sexuality, or for someone to pay a dominatrix for their twisted kinks. It isn't "nice," and we should be clear about that and maintain a critical view. If some guy you liked came up to you and said he was Kinky, you'd probably have an issue and send him packing. So why not just apply those same standards to everyone else and these weird trends people are pushing?

Look, obviously it isn't great, but you've had more than enough opportunities to hit the brakes, focus on other types of fulfillment, or seek out professional help for your paraphilia. Someone who feels they were "born in the wrong body" doesn't have that luxury—they might try to force themselves into a role that doesn't fit and end up crashing even harder. Or, they can try to live an authentic life with support from those around them, normally.

And that’s actually why I admire those people—they have the courage to be who they truly are. Since I’m a bit sapiosexual myself, I know that in certain circumstances, that admiration could easily turn into actual sexual attraction.

Betty Fowler said:If the people in the photo or video consented to sharing that content, and a child consented to watching it, who are we to intervene in the private decisions of others when no one is being harmed? 🤔

We're just voyeurs, and that person is an exhibitionist.

Betty Fowler said:Essentially, what you're doing is using monkeys as your moral compass.
And monkeys do all sorts of things... they throw waste at each other, urinate on one another, even eat each other. Do you consider those behaviors "natural" too?

But why? Is sex itself inherently bad? 🤔

Well, that's actually the best part. 🍿

Pornography isn't sex; it's just a paraphilia (voyeurism).

Well, that’s just pure chaos. ☕

Chris Williams said:Are you really directing that at me? I suppose I was merely suggesting that certain things are simply natural, perhaps even divinely ordained, and they just are; my primary point is regarding the basis of condemnation... and what the author intended to convey. I only mentioned the pornography en passant because others had already brought it up. 🤷

Justin Rogers5 said:So how do you handle it when people start asking when you're having kids?
Since you're such a badass, I'm dying to know how those conversations go.🤣
To the OP: You aren't a bitch, so why would you be? Wanting stability before anything else just makes sense. It's actually smart, but men love thinking they're the smartest guys in the room, so they act out and get jealous.
If more women acted like you, we wouldn't need social services nearly as much.🙂

They've finally stopped asking. In the past, whenever I was stuck in one of those awkward situations, I used to just stare blankly into the distance and shout, "Wait, is that Taylor Swift?!" and 🙂
