It wasn't even swearing, really, just some pretty rude language 😁
I’m going to go wash my mouth out with soap and promise I won't troll over there anymore—cross my heart!

Thanks, rustydrifter10! Your explanation really cleared everything up for me, so I’m happy to move on from this topic.

I can't speak for everyone else, though. Once you let a genie out of a bottle, there's no easy way to shove it back in.

That being said, I still feel like some kind of public statement regarding the deletions would be a good move. It doesn't have to happen right here or even right now, but eventually, somewhere... 😉

If you ever actually realize the massive stupidity you've posted here, all the secrets of the universe might just reveal themselves to you. Until then, my magic is still stronger than yours. 🎉

@ judolino: Give it a rest. You can't exactly go around picking fights when you're feeling this low. I mean, you could, but it's just not really your style. 😉

We're all just sitting here taking shots at Microsoft and waiting for Mother Nature to come along and kick us all out.

Oh, High Priestess!

What's wrong with reviving old threads if they're better than the new ones?
Is the 'Magic and Mysticism' section a place where having any fun at all is banned?

I've had my coffee, now I'm just waiting for a quick reply. 🙂

Ryan Wilson2, you don't need to do all that. We both know you're twisting the truth here.
I tried talking sense into you, but it was a lost cause.

Now, I’m calling on the admins to weigh in on this situation.

Is it really okay to delete some one-liners while letting others slide?

And what's the harm in bumping up old threads if the content is actually better than what's being posted lately?

Is this 'Magic and Mysticism' PDF supposed to be some stuffy place where we can't have any fun? Seriously? We're talking about magic here. Witches, hexes, morning invocations, herbal charms, or even reading entrails. It feels a bit silly to expect everything to be strictly academic.
The mystical disappearance of my rabbit posts in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Are you sure they're actually enforcing that rule consistently? I have my doubts.

Good grief, what happened to this PDF? It used to be actually fun. A little crazy, sure, but entertaining. Honestly, even inspiring at times.

Now, everything has devolved into "how do I get my ex back," "when am I going to land a job," and "did my grandma put a curse on me?" Every now and then, you’ll see some half-witted teenage genius jumping from thread to thread, spamming comments like "this is fake" or "that's also fake" or "it's fake because even liars say things are fake." Then there's someone shamelessly plugging their own website. And occasionally, someone posts a picture of a squid just to prove Cthulhu exists.

And yet, those kinds of posts stay up.

Meanwhile, mine keep getting deleted.

Why? Is it because I mentioned the FBI or the CIA? Or maybe because I don't immediately cross myself whenever Aleister Crowley comes up?

Look, enough is enough.

I’m asking nicely: please stop deleting my posts, or there are going to be consequences.😍

Honestly, I’d much rather have someone just delete five of my posts than deal with an actual ban or some formal penalty.
I figured I should probably reach out before this gets deleted. 👍

It’s pretty clear you don't think anything I post here has any real value. Honestly, I won't even try to talk you out of it.

To be honest, there are certain people on these forums who only show up when they actually have something meaningful to say. When they do post, it’s like reading a little masterpiece—even if they’re just trolling. I don't exactly count myself among those elite thinkers, but I do believe in following a few core principles. A post should be treated as an original work of art. Downvoting someone is basically just negative criticism, and deleting a post? That’s nothing short of book burning.

rowdypanther said:If you had gotten punished again, you would have just complained about it anyway. Honestly, it’s like you can never just be satisfied with anything. What is wrong with you?

Do you honestly think I’m the type to sit around and complain? What, am I some kind of psychic now? ☕

If I really want someone to cater to my every whim, I don't come to an online forum—I just head straight to the bedroom.
Since you aren't exactly looking to play the wise guy here, I'll give you my honest recommendation. 😒

Sorry, I didn't realize you magic enthusiasts had suddenly become as quiet as nuns. I'll cut back on the swearing from now on. Maybe I'll even say a couple of prayers as penance. Or go to confession if that's what it takes.

But seriously. You have yellow and red cards, warnings, spells, and hexes at your disposal, yet you decided the best move was just deleting posts. What’s next—deciding the topic is too much to handle and tossing it in the basement?

You're not being cool about this, and you know it. 🙂

So, I really tried to put together a decent little audiovisual post for this thread.

But apparently, it just vanished into the void.

Now I’m left wondering: was it a broken YouTube link, a glitchy image, my own questionable sense of style, or am I just being targeted by some bizarre global conspiracy? 🤔

Or maybe it’s just some annoying technical hiccup?

Whatever the case, I’d love to know what actually happened.

You think that’s efficient?

Exactly 🙂 Thank you Quote

I have my doubts. Say, I'm sitting on an Amtrak train next to the OP—she starts talking and then, two stops later, she’s telling me her dad looks at her like a piece of meat. No, that is definitely not how a beautiful friendship begins.

Look, honesty has always been a solid foundation for me when meeting someone. I'd much rather deal with the raw truth than have some person pretending everything is sunshine and rainbows. Honestly, what’s the real difference between hearing it the second you meet or five months down the line? I really don't get the distinction here.

If you run into someone who isn't big on total transparency, then yeah, maybe don't drop those kinds of bombs right out of the gate. In other words—if the conversation naturally drifts toward those heavy topics, go ahead and be real. But you don't need to just blurt out every single thought you have without any context. If you really feel the need to dive deep, create the right vibe first. Truth is truth, but there are plenty of ways to package it.

To me, there's a massive difference. At first, people usually stick to lighthearted topics and shared hobbies. It’s how you get a feel for their vibe and figure out if you actually click. It’s only later, once some basic trust has been built, that they start sharing the more intimate details of their lives.

I don't really view people who spill their entire life story immediately as being serious. If they’re unloading all that onto me right away, I assume they do it with everyone—meaning they don't distinguish between different levels of friendship. They treat someone they've known for ten years exactly the same way they treat a total stranger. That’s just not the kind of person I want as a close friend. Honestly, I probably wouldn't want them as a friend at all. If they're that casual about sharing secrets, I certainly won't be trusting them with anything important.

These hyper-open people almost remind me of those overly intense cult followers or proponents of those "toxic positivity" movements. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. Personally, I wouldn't recommend opening up completely until you actually know who you're dealing with. For extreme extroverts, that approach might work since it helps them bond quickly with similar people. But for anyone else, that strategy will likely leave them with nothing.

No, hell no. That just doesn't sit right with me at all.

It doesn't feel normal because, honestly, most people don't actually do that. But—and this is a big "but"—it’s incredibly effective 🙂

By playing it that way, you get to know people way faster. It’s much easier to just cut ties when you realize after a couple of days that someone is totally wrong for you, rather than dragging it out for weeks or months like some kind of endless marathon. Plus, it helps you build and solidify real friendships much more quickly.

You think that's efficient? 😉 I highly doubt it. For instance, imagine I'm riding on a commuter train with the person who started this thread. She strikes up a conversation, and then two stops later, she tells me how her dad looks at her like she's nothing more than a piece of meat. No, that wouldn't exactly be the foundation for a wonderful friendship. 🤦

I don't even know where to start, but I've never really clicked with my parents—and over the last two years, that's spiraled into this intense resentment, hatred, and pure contempt. Honestly, I feel the same way about my extended family too. Even with friends... if someone tries to get close or asks to know something personal about me, I just start looking down on them. And don't even get me started on guys; I've never actually had anyone I could be real with. I'm 21. Is this just some deep-seated fear of intimacy? Why does it even happen? I'm guessing the root cause is my parents—they were pretty neglectful and cold most of my life, and raising a kid was clearly never at the top of their priority list.

First off, you've gotta forgive yourself for how you're acting, and try to find a way to forgive your parents for who they are. If you can't do that right now, then make that your mission. Also, seriously—get independent and move out from under their roof as soon as you possibly can.

The only way to beat these fears is to stare them right in the face. You have to push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Try opening up to people you're meeting for the first time—like, go all the way. Don't sit there obsessing over what you might lose by being vulnerable; just accept the risk. Yeah, maybe someone will screw you over, but more often than not, that's how you attract people who are actually honest and open themselves. It gets easier with time, and eventually, that fear just starts to fade away. 🙂

No way. 🙄 That honestly sounds a little bit crazy to me.

You basically answered your own question in your next post.

Angela Thompson5 said:I can't really put a number on them. They aren't "bad" people, per se, but they've always acted so weird toward me that it’s honestly embarrassing. My mom is fine, as long as she isn't spiraling into an anxiety attack, but my dad? He's the real issue. It feels like there's something deeply broken in his emotional makeup. Ever since I was 14, he hasn't treated me like his daughter—he treats me like a piece of meat. I literally go out of my way to avoid being in the same room as him. Being around him makes me feel so awkward and tense. But obviously, I can't explain this to anyone, because they'd just think I'm losing my mind. All this built-up anger and helplessness... it's turned into pure hatred. Mostly toward him, but probably eventually toward anyone else who tries to get close to me.

As for the second part? Yeah, it's the fear of being exposed.

So, what's your take on all this?

It makes total sense why you find it hard to open up, especially when there's no way to actually prove what's happening. 😢

The best thing for you would be to get independent as soon as possible and cut him out of your life entirely. Of course, that's much easier said than done, given how difficult things can be in the US right now.

For starters, please just remind yourself: this isn't your fault. You're going through a lot, but that doesn't mean you're losing your mind.

Nicholas King said:Let’s look at this from a different angle.

Imagine there's User A on this forum who spent all of last week churning out endless walls of text dedicated entirely to User B—someone they don't even actually know. In all those rants, User A basically just repeats one single sentence: "User B is a psychopath, they need help, somebody do something, do something!!!11!!1!". In the name of spreading the truth about User B, User A gets drunk and banned, an outcome they take immense pride in because they view themselves as some insignificant martyr on their holy crusade for Truth.

Do you honestly think that such an obsessive fixation on one (completely unknown) individual can't be labeled by anyone else as an obsessive need to persecute, or perhaps receive some other diagnosis and medical advice? Do you truly believe your sentences reveal nothing but a pure person who is beyond debate, and that one couldn't dig through them to find suppressed aggression and whatnot? I mean, suppose I take a week off, comb through your posts, and construct a monster—only then, I become User C, who is obsessed with User A, so then some User D spends their entire week analyzing my posts and so on and so forth.

Furthermore—and even if we aren't strictly limiting ourselves to the Psychology subforum—statistically speaking, it is a certainty that there are mentally ill people posting on this forum. I mean, it's completely impossible for a random sample size as large as a forum population to be as mentally sound as a saint.

And so what? What is it you actually want???

Are we going down these "driftingeagle27-Jason Gonzalez7" paths now? What are we supposed to do? Establish a forum-wide FBI that, the moment it spots a suspicious sentence, issues a warrant for the close monitoring of the 🤦suspect? Create a psychological dossier for every single user and log observations regarding the mental stability of their prose? WTF???

I mean, who am I supposed to talk to on this forum if everyone with a condition gets slapped with a diagnosis and sent straight to a psychiatric facility? 🙂

Yeah, that’s exactly what I mean by A. option. Otherwise, we could just go with B, which is basically accepting that this forum isn't reality in any real sense—just like Diablo II or Rambo II.

People can lie their heads off on this forum. As Michelle Wells3 pointed out, it’s incredibly tough to tell the difference between someone being intentionally malicious, someone just being a contrarian, and someone simply being uninformed or spinning tall tales like Baron Munchausen. Even some of the descriptions of violence here shouldn't be taken at face value—especially when they seem to defy the basic laws of physics. Honestly, if we were putting together a real investigative team, we'd need more than just psychologists, psychiatrists, police officers, and tax investigators. We’d need physicists, chemists, and biologists too. That’s really the only way to get to the objective truth.

I don't have anything against setting up a military-style police forum like that. I just have my doubts about whether many members would actually stick around once it launches.

If I were to list everything that’s actually bothering me, it would take way too much time and energy—neither of which I have to spare right now—but don't think for a second that I won't eventually get to it.

I have a specific question: if I start reporting posts, am I allowed to flag ones that are just blatant lies and total fabrications? I was thinking maybe they could at least get a strike for every lie told; if someone keeps it up, those points might eventually add up to a long-term ban. 😍

It’s always pretty telling when someone starts mistaking a forum for actual reality. 😉

If you honestly think something warrants a criminal report, go ahead and call the police instead of bothering the supermods. It’s nice that you feel like you're being looked after, but that doesn't mean you get to decide who gets to post and who doesn't. Sorry, but that's just how the world works. 😍

I don't see any kind of liberal fascism here. It feels more like a sudden surge of intellectual snobbery because the (presumably smarter) moderators tend to favor users who can actually write and articulate their thoughts. Most of what gets labeled as "aggressive outbursts" isn't even hate speech—it's just basic trolling.

Sure, it’s basically discrimination against the uninformed and the illiterate. What should we do next? Maybe establish a "special needs forum user" category just so they can have equal rights?

Or maybe we should all stop using words on this forum altogether and just communicate through emojis? Actually, never mind, Facebook already exists for that. ☕
Treatment referrals, forum social roles, and more in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Yeah, it’s a little dry. I wish there were at least some images, emojis, or something to break it up...

It took me a minute to wrap my head around what’s actually going on here, but once you dive into the details, you realize there's a certain intrigue to it. Kind of like math, I guess.

Look, some would argue that the civic duty of administrators should be to step in early and prevent another Brevik situation. We all know what his agenda was, and his like-minded followers over on sites like Fox News don't exactly get sanctioned—let alone sent for help—as long as they keep their rhetoric just subtle enough.

Anyway, we really need some standardized criteria. Maybe include a little "report to police" or "contact a psychiatrist" button that links directly to the right authorities?

Or, perhaps the solution lies in this whole politically correct movement toward respecting mental diversity? In that case, terms like "lunatic," "psychopath," or "schizophrenic" wouldn't be considered insults, and therefore wouldn't be sanctioned at all.

Personally, I usually go by the rule that "barking dogs don't bite." In other words, just because someone is talking absolute trash on a forum doesn't mean I'd be afraid to run into them in real life (stating the obvious 😬).

* then again, some people really are just talking trash 🙂
Antidepressants and sexual dysfunction in Psychology ·
People naturally have different levels of sexual drive, just like they differ in pretty much everything else in life. It feels a bit silly to label a low libido as "abnormal," and honestly, it’s even more misguided to try and fix it with a pill. In reality, it’s pretty rare for both partners to be on the exact same page when it comes to desire all the time.
