It certainly doesn't look that way! I really hope shadowtrucker18 pops up soon just so we can confirm she hasn't drifted off course entirely...

Is democracy actually alive in the USA? in Philosophy ·

I think there’s a thread over on the politics subforum discussing whether people should actually pass an intelligence test before they’re allowed to vote. If you sit back and really think about that concept—and then consider who actually holds the right to vote here in America—you’ll realize exactly why I said "sadly" lol

...but how many people would actually end up voting under those rules? You’d basically be killing off the whole democratic ideal right at the starting line.

Honestly, I can't speak authoritatively on things I don't fully grasp. People call Bush a tyrant. The media supposedly rails against him. But he holds the power. And those with power usually pull the strings of the media. If he really were a tyrant, why wouldn't he just shut down the negative press? In this specific instance, it almost seems like Bush is behaving like a gentleman. Even here in the States, the papers are criticizing him. Let's not be naive. Do you honestly believe our major news outlets aren't just following orders handed down from the U.S. Embassy?!🙏

The absolute truth
Then they’ll finally have to deal with that stench head-on! I say let them skip washing up for a month or two, and once everyone starts crowding into the press room, things will get real interesting...🙂
If this trend of tossing shoes at politicians starts spreading globally, our local journalists are definitely going to have to start showing up to White House press briefings wearing fuzzy slippers instead of suits! 😍

Now, don't get me wrong—it’s easy enough to laugh, especially since the whole scene was absolutely ridiculous to watch, but I really do feel for the guy; he's completely and utterly screwed now...
For those of you who haven't caught the footage yet, it's absolutely everywhere online right now—you can find it on just about any major news site or social media feed if you're looking.

Honestly, I have to wonder what kind of mental lapse leads someone to lose their cool, shout something ridiculous, and then actually swing a shoe at one of the most powerful and highly protected leaders on the planet...

The big question remains: will they let him go, or is he headed straight for... 🙂
