Look at this little thread, he really tried to hide

I've seen it all before, believe me!
Got plenty of advice out there—some smart, some... not so much.
But hey, just like any other topic on here, 😁

By the way, why are you wearing sunglasses all the time? If you're dealing with light sensitivity, you've got to be super careful when picking out lenses.
And you should probably check in with an eye doctor too, at least that's how it looks from here. 😉

Come on, let's make up our minds—is this actually worth it or not? 😬

Based on my own experience, I’m right there with Scott Allen10 on this one.

Now we’re just waiting on some suggestions from the rest of the group for a good cream. 🙂 😁

Honestly, you can find them at any CVS or Walgreens you want!
The only downside is that some of them stay sticky for hours—ugh! :fuj:

Personally, I feel like the massage itself does more heavy lifting than the actual creams. So, I just grab a gel and have a little fun with it! 🙄
I've got some Neutrogena stuff right now, and I'm dying to get up and go check out that other thing I mentioned. 😁
I'm happy with this one; it spreads really smoothly, has a nice cooling effect, and my skin feels great afterward.

Yeah, James Cox6, horse chestnut is actually super helpful.
It's like an old-school home remedy—people used to carry a piece in their pocket everywhere! I even tried it once when someone gave me some serious advice about it. 🤣
I mean, it might work, but where am I supposed to carry around a bunch of chestnuts all day?

Anyway, this is what I was drinking.

Honestly, I felt the exact same way back in middle school 😢
it didn't matter if someone was young or old, skinny or curvy, it was all the same to me

James Cox6 said:Hey ladies,

Does anyone else deal with swollen, aching legs during these summer months? Especially when this heatwave hits.

Every day I come home with my legs feeling completely bloated—it’s miserable. My only fix is alternating lukewarm and cold water from the knees down in the shower. That's the only thing that helps.

If you're struggling too, what are you doing to manage the pain? It gets especially brutal right when you finally lie down for the night.

Putting two pillows under my legs
Just like you, I find cold showers
help a lot! I also use a massage gel morning and night.
Whenever I can find the energy, I hop on my standing massage plate—it’s honestly a lifesaver, 👍 though I have to admit I can be a bit lazy sometimes!
A few years back, I tried some herbal supplements and they worked wonders, but after a year, they just weren't agreeing with my stomach anymore.
Nowadays, I take some herbal diuretics to help with fluid retention, and I think they're actually helping.

It seems like I've dealt with this forever.
Even back when I was 14 and weighed about 110 pounds, it was always there.

edit:
Also, whenever I manage to stay away from all those grain-based products, I feel so much better!🤷

There's a site called GoFundMe
but I honestly feel like they don't really focus on individual cases there.

Emily Gonzalez51 said:Honestly, it would be so great if there was a dedicated phone line where people could just call in and donate a few bucks. I bet we could raise that money in no time!

I personally prefer direct bank transfers because I know exactly how much is hitting the account based on what's on the check.
With those phone donation lines, a chunk always gets eaten up by processing fees and sales tax.
I actually read in the news that the end recipient ends up getting less than half of what was donated!
Whether it's 20% or 50% isn't really the point—the real issue is that they aren't receiving the full amount intended for them.

Benjamin Sanchez51 said:Hey :-) Haven't paid anything yet since my procedure isn't until next week 😁 I'll let you know the damage. Hoping the balloon is free... fingers crossed 😁😁 It sucks that there aren't any ATMs near the hospital, and I'm really not feeling the whole cash thing—plus, I don't want to leave my room unattended 😁😁

Dr. Nick (he's actually a pretty cool guy) is taking vacation starting August 1st, so you'll probably be looking at sometime in the second half of August. Seems like he doesn't take more than 2 or 3 weeks off at a time

The last time I checked, there was an ATM over in the main administration building, just down the hall to the right of the entrance.
I'm not totally sure if it's still there, but it should be!

Betty Allen15 said:I actually met my husband in the dermatology department while I was recovering in the hospital! As soon as he saw me, he turned right to the doctor and asked if there was any way to fix me up—he was working as a merchant marine at the time and thought he might find his soulmate somewhere out on the high seas. The doctor gave him the straight talk about how serious my condition was and warned him things could get tough, but look at us now—we've been happily married for 34 years!
...

This is just so 😍
heartwarming

and kudos to you, Betty Allen15, for such amazing optimism. You are truly a wonderful woman!

placidjackal36 said:Hold on, what does interfering with someone's beliefs and convictions have to do with anything?
Why should I respect that? Even if it isn't causing direct harm, I don't see any reason to stay quiet. I'm standing on my right to free speech here.
But we aren't talking about abstract ideas; we're talking about actual harm. Financial harm and physical harm.

Why do I call those stupid pseudo-medical threads "garbage"? Because the Health subforum shouldn't be hosting that stuff. Honestly, it would be the moral thing to scrub it from the entire site, but hey, they created an "Alternative" subforum specifically for that kind of sandbox play. Fine, let them play there. They haven't even implemented a warning system yet, even though they promised they would when they were planning to turn the old NR wing into an "alternative center."

Having homeopathy in the Health section makes about as much sense as reading tea leaves or praying to some Hawaiian deity.
And I have every right to react. At the very least.
I could sit here and write essays on why it's nonsense, but I don't feel like it. I don't have the time, and frankly, doing so just gives unearned credibility to homeopaths—who are essentially just scammers.

For me, motion sickness used to be a killer; even without Dramamine, I couldn't make a trip. Only difference was, it didn't make me sleepy like it does most of you. On the contrary, I was always the most upbeat person on the road. My only issue was that my appetite would spike, so I’d always carry a mountain of sandwiches.

But once I switched to macrobiotics, there was no longer a need for Dramamine. I successfully managed the nausea with umeboshi plums. I’d eat two before a trip, sometimes five. They're hard to eat at first because they're so salty, but after that, I felt great for the whole journey.

But you're comparing umeboshi plums, which are loaded with sodium chloride, to plain water.
Those plums have a—theoretically speaking—effect. At least, a theoretical effect. And of course, there's the placebo effect, which shows up everywhere. As a theoretical effect, besides certain ingredients in those plums that might be soothing, you also have the hypertonicity of the salt, which has a strong impact on the wet, acidic environment of the stomach.

A homeopathic remedy vial is just water. H2O. Or a sugar pill. There is absolutely nothing in there.
Substances dissolved in water and then removed from it don't leave a trace. Water doesn't have a memory. If it did, chemistry wouldn't even exist as a field because we wouldn't be able to run experiments using water as a solvent and get repeatable results.
Testing blood, soil, or rainwater would be completely pointless. Chemistry wouldn't be a science based on reproducible trials.

So, there's zero theoretical foundation, and there isn't a shred of evidence that any of it works. In two hundred years of this madness, not one piece of proof. Just anecdotes and tall tales. What drives people to believe this stuff? Ignorance.
People simply don't understand what they're looking at. Homeopaths fill their heads with garbage about "natural plant-based remedies" and sell them pure water, sugar, ethanol, wax, or whatever inert carrier they happen to be using. They think there are daisies and apples inside. 🤷

When someone pops onto a forum and claims, "homeopathy helped me beat pneumonia," you might as well swap out "homeopathy" for:
  • praying to Zeus
  • staring intensely at a AA battery
  • tapping your hands on a stone table
  • saying "la la la" three times a day
  • having a chat with a stapler
  • offering a lamb sacrifice to Yahweh
  • licking the air
  • ...

It all ends up in the same place.
I'm out of things to say. There’s really nothing to discuss regarding the medicinal properties of a teaspoon of pure hydrogen oxide.

🙄
Now you're just talking nonsense!
I don't buy any of that junk myself, so I guess nothing is going to work for me, but hey, if it actually helps someone else, why shouldn't they go for it? 🤷

I’m getting so frustrated that I almost want to wish my own old heartache onto you, just so you can experience it firsthand and realize why someone would try absolutely anything to feel better!

velvetgull9 said:Back when everyone was mass migrating from America to far-off lands at the turn of the century, doctors on those long ocean voyages noticed something weird—mostly adults were getting seasick, while kids seemed totally fine. Turns out, those folks coming from the northern and western parts of the US were packing plenty of gingerbread cookies, which the kids were snacking on constantly. And hey, ginger is still a super legit way to fight nausea today!

Maybe give it a shot. 😉

P.S: placidjackal36, go take a stroll! If people want even less nausea, they can just tie a red bandana around their big toe, so I guess you should try to be happy about that 😉

👍

I remember feeling so sick after a drive from Chicago to Milwaukee that I honestly just wanted to crawl out of the car and lie flat on the sidewalk in front of my house for half an hour!
I’d try just about anything ridiculous if it meant getting relief.

Since I turned 30, I've been totally fine—I still get a little queasy sometimes, but never nearly that bad.

I don't really have any real advice for you.
Nothing worked for me, and now I can't even remember all those silly things I tried!

Enjoy your upcoming summer vacations (if you can actually snag some time off)! Have an amazing rest and get plenty of swimming in! 🙂

Did she say it was black? Is
I mean, how did you even decide it wasn't black? I honestly have no clue 😬

But hey, there's no point in us all acting like experts on this forum
Either way, they should probably go see an eye doctor, because what feels like just a minor irritation can actually turn out to be pretty dangerous
And one thing is for sure: we only get one pair of eyes 😉
Seeing black spots in my vision in Health ·
Come on, guys, give it a rest!

Besides, those eye floaters aren't always pitch black, either.
I've had them since I was a kid—just a handful of them, so I know what they look like.

But a solid black spot can actually be a sign of something really serious, so my advice is don't ignore it; just head straight to the ER.

Chain, just report the post to the mods using the little icon.
Do you honestly think the admins have time to read every single post? They’d never get anything done if they did.
Seeing black spots in my vision in Health ·
It might just be one of those little eye floaters that so many people deal with
but there could definitely be some more serious issues at play
those floaters usually have a bit of a glow to them rather than being pitch black
if you're seeing a solid black spot, I’d head straight to the ER—and honestly, even though I'm not exactly a fan of doctor visits myself, I’d tell him to do the same

Three best friends decided to surprise their guys by dressing up in full leather BDSM gear—high heels and black blindfolds included—just to see what would happen.
It was going to be quite the night!
One was a fiancée, one was in a long-term relationship, and the third was a wife.
Fast forward a few days, and they’re all catching up:
The fiancée said, "When he saw me, he absolutely lost his mind! Then he just looked at me with so much love in his eyes. He told me I was the woman of his dreams, and we spent the entire night lost in passion!"

The girlfriend told them, "As soon as he spotted me, he grabbed me instantly! We were going at it so hard we didn't stop until sunrise!"

But the wife? She said, "He walked in from work, gave me this confused look, and just asked, 'Hey, Zorro,
what's for dinner?'"

😁 😁 😁
