Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
Megan Myers88 said:Has anyone else dealt with brown spotting during their period? I used to get this back when I was younger, maybe about 10 days before my cycle started, but for almost a year now, my entire period has been brown and much lighter than it used to be. It still lasts about the usual 5 or 6 days, and honestly, the cramps aren't even as bad.
I actually just had surgery to remove a cyst recently. Everything came back fine—ovaries look good, uterus looks good; besides some inflammation I need to make sure is cleared up, nothing else showed up on the exam...

When I brought it up, my doctor just brushed it off and said it’s totally normal, but I don't know, I'm still feeling pretty

I've been dealing with something pretty similar for about a year now... My ovaries are fine and my last Pap smear was clear. I even mentioned it casually to my gynecologist during our appointment, but she didn't even blink.
Since we’re all just messing around here 😍 DMov, if we're talking about absolute kings of toilet paper, the 5-ply stuff is unbeatable. I only grab 6 rolls at a time, but honestly, they last me longer than any of those cheap 10-packs out there. You really only need a couple of sheets 😍 plus, if you check the price tag at Target, they actually break down the cost per sheet for you. They aren't calculating the price per roll; it's the actual sheet count!

Nice. 😁

Is there some magical moment where the switch flips, or is it more of a slow, creeping realization that you’ve lost the steering wheel? It’s funny how we like to think we have control, right? We tell ourselves it's just a habit, or maybe just a way to unwind after a long day at the office, until suddenly, it isn't. Does it happen when you stop doing things because you want to, and start doing them because you simply can't imagine not doing them? I'd love to hear what you all think. Where do you draw the line between a "vice" and a full-blown problem? 😛

Now we're talking!

So, I have to wonder... why is this even happening?
I’m honestly feeling a little extra wound up today, mostly because I actually had the entire day off to myself. You know how that goes, right? You think you're going to have this peaceful, productive little reset, but instead, you just end up spiraling. 😢
Dealing with resentment toward my parents in Psychology ·
Jesus, I honestly can't believe it. Why don't you hate yourself just a little bit for being such a shallow, superficial person? What kind of world did you grow up in to think it’s perfectly normal to despise your parents just because they don't own a car, and then decide to post about that "problem" here on this forum?
It is just so incredibly, monumentally, elephantine-level sad.
I have to admit, I felt a bit called out myself since I was in a relationship for a year and a half 🙈 with a guy (32 years old) who used to "woo" me, and when he talked about his issues with his parents, he wouldn't go into specifics, but there was always this "massive pain" involved...
I remember thinking to myself, man, they must have really screwed him over.
But as I listened to his stories over time and eventually met the people in question, I realized it was just a case of a man who is furious at the entire world because—get this—his parents, after working abroad for 30 years, don't have the standard setup of every other immigrant worker: two Mercedes-Benzes, a vacation home in Florida, and a massive house being built back home for their retirement. Instead, they've been trying to finish building a house in their hometown for 30 years and just can't get it done— for being so incompetent, damn them!
Even in Xxxxberg, they don't even own a house; they're renting, can you imagine?
!

It goes without saying that his parents were wonderful people—incredibly attentive and caring. My mom would have lost her mind, practically begging me to make him see reason, when he finally decided, fueled by rage and irritation at their very existence and perceived incompetence, to simply stop answering their calls.

Unless, of course, he needed something.

"Look at your parents; they bought you and your brother an apartment in D.C., so now, princess, you don't have to pay rent. It's easy for you to criticize me!"—that's what he would tell me.
"Meanwhile, I'm stuck working like a dog in a warehouse, handing over my last cent for rent... all because THEY were incompetent."!

There you go. That's the mindset right there.

The guy was chronically incapable. He changed jobs like he changed socks, was unemployed most of the time, and had these grandiose ambitions that he never actually lifted a finger to achieve.
He was basically living off the glory of one successful job where he actually managed to stay past his six-month probation period...

Believe me, being that kind of person is exhausting. At one point, he latched onto a wealthy, self-assured woman (right after me), but she ended up dumping him recently. And now? He's back to hating his parents (and the rest of the world).

Don't be that guy.

Just buy your own car.
How to hardcode subtitles into a video? in Software ·
I really need some help here. I tried searching through the IT tutorials, but nothing they suggested actually worked for me. So, here’s the situation: I have this massive collection of movies stored on my NASA external hard drive. We recently picked up a new Samsung TV that has a USB port, and we've been playing all those movies directly from the NASA drive. Honestly, the excitement was huge because the picture quality is easily three times better than what I get on my laptop, but there's a catch—it won't play the subtitles. The thing is, the subtitles are embedded in the same file as the movie itself, but the TV just doesn't "recognize" them. It doesn't even give me an option to select them; it just plays the video alone. Does anyone have a tutorial for permanently burning subtitles into the video? Every time I search for a solution, I just get bombarded with suggestions for AviSub, VobSub, Subtitle Workshop, and a million other programs I've never heard of 😕😕 Basically, I need a way to make sure the subtitles show up automatically when I plug the hard drive into the TV, since they work perfectly fine on my computer without any extra steps. I am so incredibly determined to fix this because I have so many movies I haven't had the chance to watch on a tiny 14-inch laptop, and now that I can finally see them on the big screen... I just need those subtitles to work

Harmful radiation risks in Health ·
This thread is ancient history, I know, 🙂 but honestly, who cares?
So, we had some people over at my mom's place this morning to measure radiation levels because she’s pretty insistent on that sort of thing. She bought one of those specialized blankets/mats, and ever since it arrived, she swears she’s been reborn. Usually, her sleep is absolute garbage, but for months now, she hasn't stopped bragging about how she sleeps straight through the night. Living in downtown Washington, D.C., you deal with all those underground water lines and whatever else is buried down there, and even in our apartment, we have that Hartmann node—though nobody actually sleeps on it. It was actually pretty fascinating to watch my brother test it out. This woman claims if she holds his hand and tries to push it down with all her might, she won't be able to move it if he's standing in the right spot. When he stood in the "good" spot, she couldn't budge him. Then, he moved directly onto the Hartmann point, stood there for a few minutes, and suddenly she could "push" his arm down like it was nothing... We ended up buying another blanket because my brother is sleeping in a terrible spot. I’m going to test mine out for a week since my position is also bad, though I might be able to improve things by maybe 30% just by shifting my bed around. If I can fix it that way, I'd rather not throw money away, so I'll try moving my bed first. My brother doesn't have that luxury; his room is stuck as is. I've been sleeping in my own bed for ages, and over the last year, my sleep quality has tanked. Well, not exactly—I still sleep through the night, but I feel like I need hours just to actually wake up; I get up feeling completely wrecked. I'm genuinely curious to see if this works for me... The blanket costs $1167.

Sorry about the 'spam,' I guess. It was just too easy to find. In Settings.

How do I change that thing under my username from "register user" to something a little less soul-crushing?
