Thanks, Cuca, for the ban! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I shall present a singular, glaring example of how you protect evils far greater than anything on the right, while simultaneously issuing an appeal to be reinstated—or, if you insist on being polite, to explain yourselves, because in my estimation, this platform is hopelessly biased.

The previous threads where I was banned serve as the ultimate evidence; I was merely stating the unvarnished truth, which clearly became too visible for the partisans to stomach.

You have systematically scrubbed the raw facts regarding Joe Biden’s fundamental unsuitability, facts which expose his utter moral bankruptcy. Allow me to offer one minuscule illustration.

It concerned your post regarding how Joe Biden was essentially funding the Democratic Party from his own income. And then you suggest he maintains the right to spend money on groceries... well, my friend, he doesn't.

Now you will begin to understand just how easily one can "game" the system through sheer, sophisticated fraud.

First, the Democratic Party officially claims to have no idea whether Joe Biden owes them money or how much, which is why they don't kick him out for non-payment... that is precisely why Joe Biden left, leaving debts behind just as he left debts for America. I provided the link to the article; you know the facts, so there is no need for me to repeat myself. To put it plainly... they refuse to say it officially, so you must read between the lines... how is it possible that there is no record, or that the records are simply "unavailable"?

Second,
Joe Biden "paid" those contributions exclusively using party funds, because everything he had was thanks to the Democratic Party—his role as a Congressman, his position as President, and his standing within the party hierarchy.
Simple as that.

Make no mistake: nothing was private. It was merely moving money from one empty pocket to another. Joe Biden contributed nothing of his "own" money. This is just as I have already argued and proven: that Joe Biden and his Administration plundered America using nothing but empty slogans without delivering a single improvement.
Furthermore, it should now be perfectly clear why someone would claim minimum wage benefits from their own firm... though, frankly, it’s almost impressive in its audacity.
Besides, his partner is cut from the same cloth, living in a state of panic that they might run out of cash.

To cast a single vote for this individual is an insult to every honest man. To call his opponent foolish is one thing, but he is simply corrupt.
Try to name just one single positive thing Joe Biden has accomplished, and you will find nothing, because his "solutions" only ever manufacture new problems. He maintains a veneer of morality only when it doesn't involve himself, much like what Kamala Harris has pointed out... everything he does is done with the best intentions for himself. What do we call someone like that?

Just ask yourself where you are headed with this... for heaven's sake.

Good grief...

Kenneth Cruz67 said:I’ve swapped out the power supply valve a handful of times myself. You unscrew it, strip the unit down, pull the valve, head over to the local hardware store, grab an identical replacement, thread the new one in, put everything back together, and bolt it all down. The whole ordeal takes maybe ten minutes tops.

The only thing you really need to watch for when installing the new valve is ensuring the orientation matches the old one—specifically, that it exhausts air rather than pumping it in. Usually, there is an arrow on the valve stem indicating the direction of airflow.

And do try to avoid slicing your hands open during the assembly or disassembly process. For some inexplicable reason, the finishing on power supply housings is consistently abysmal, regardless of how much you paid for the unit or its supposed quality. It is far too easy to get cut if you aren't being meticulous.

A solid ten minutes, several times over. 🙂 Furthermore, I would suggest using compressed air to clear out any debris rather than a vacuum cleaner. Once it's clean, sliding a new component in takes mere seconds...

fadedsailor17 said:Look, I have no intention of dropping cash on a brand-new power supply right now just because the fan bearing has finally given up the ghost. I watched a few videos on YouTube suggesting the replacement isn't an impossible feat, so I figured I'd ask if anyone here has actually tackled this. Specifically, I need some guidance on how to track down the exact part. I was browsing Amazon and saw something that looks identical, but the description labels them as fan housings rather than the fans themselves. It’s a bit of a dilemma—is it wise to just pull the old one out, walk into a local Best Buy, and hope for the best by matching the visual?
Anyway, thanks for the input, everyone. 👍
And a Merry Christmas to you all. 😉

Right back at you. May your setup run quieter than ever. 🙂

Nothing about the task itself is particularly difficult, though one must question the underlying logic. I have personally gone as far as bending pins on processors in my time. There is an old adage worth remembering: I am simply not wealthy enough to afford cheap things. This is especially true when you are working for your own benefit; it is more prudent to do a job once and do it right so it lasts. If you settle for a quick fix now, you will likely be staring at the same problem again next year. A replacement fan isn't necessarily going to outperform the "original" when it was first installed.
The critical factor with these components is ensuring the dimensions match perfectly. Since most of these are standardized, finding a fit shouldn't be an issue.
As someone else pointed out, you also need to pay attention to the rotation direction. There should be an arrow printed directly on the fan housing indicating both the direction of rotation and the airflow direction.

fadedsailor17 said:So, my power supply fan has started making this buzzing noise. It only happens during the first three or four minutes after I boot up the PC, and then it settles down and runs normally without any noise. Naturally, this is incredibly irritating and I'm not a fan of it. I watched some guy on YouTube replacing a similar fan, so I wanted to see if anyone here has actually done this. I have no idea where I would even go to find a replacement fan that matches this specific model. Thanks.

My advice? Just buy a high-quality power supply unit. A better unit will run cooler, be more efficient, and ultimately last much longer than your current one once you've swapped out the fan. Most fans are standard 12V, though some use a connector while others require soldering... just be extremely careful not to swap the wires (the thin black and red ones, positive and negative) because the fan will spin backward. Keep in mind that a larger fan can move the same amount of air at a lower RPM, which is an important factor. Replacing it is straightforward: unscrew the four screws on the PSU casing, remove the old fan, and secure the new one with four screws—unless you have to solder the connector. Personally, I find it easier to just snip the old wires and splice them into the new fan so you don't have to lift the entire PCB off the components just to reach a solder point.
The bearings are likely worn down, causing that initial vibration until the blades find their proper path. And for heaven's sake, don't forget you absolutely must unplug it from the 120V outlet 😁 ... unless you're looking for an unexpected light show.
Judging by the price point, it’s obvious this won't even be fast enough for High Definition workflows. Since we're talking about "The New Guy," a decent mid-range card like an RX 580 (around $200) is more than sufficient; its primary role here is simply handling the simultaneous display on two or three monitors in High Definition. The real trick lies in the storage configuration: you should have your raw footage on one drive and your project files/scratch disk on another. If the system isn't configured this way, you can always pull in a third dedicated drive just for the OS itself.
The Ryzen chips are undeniably impressive—my kid actually owns a total beast 😁—though there are certainly pricier builds out there. That said, I still find myself leaning toward Intel for heavy editing tasks, though I could list several older processors without having to dig through them all right now. There are some truly excellent options within the E. series.
An Asus Motherboard should cost no more than $100. Anything beyond that is essentially throwing money down the drain. While Adobe Premiere Pro is a powerhouse editor, there are much simpler programs out there that will get the job done perfectly well.
Best portable speaker recommendations? in Computer Peripherals ·
Carl Young5 said:Hello everyone, I hope I am in the right thread. I have an issue with some speakers, so I figured I would ask here. 🙂
So, I have an older desktop PC. Everything else functions perfectly fine, and I have these Genius speakers hooked up to it. They worked without incident for years, but about a month ago, I noticed they started vibrating violently; the driver itself shakes uncontrollably during playback. This happens even at extremely low volumes, say around 5% or 10%. Initially, I assumed the speakers were failing, so I purchased an identical brand-new pair, yet the exact same phenomenon occurs. I then suspected a power supply issue—perhaps something unstable with the electrical outlet. To test this, I used an extension cord to plug them into a completely different outlet in another room, but the result remains unchanged for both the old and the new set. For five or six years, everything was seamless.

Is it possible for a sound card to cause such intense vibration and driver rattling? The actual sound clarity and volume levels remain perfectly fine.

It is unlikely to be related to the AC mains voltage, though it could potentially stem from the computer's internal power supply if the ripple voltage has increased due to aging capacitors. My question is: are you using the same audio cable from the PC to the speakers, and do you happen to have a microphone enabled somewhere? That specific combination can trigger the subsonic interference you are experiencing. If so, simply disable any unnecessary inputs on your audio mixer panel or turn down the "pot."

Where to buy laptop BIOS/CMOS batteries? in IT Support ·
There is a battery service center located right on what used to be the longest street in Washington, D.C. (Djordjić's 😁), where they can patch up those punctures for a relatively small fee, if you ask $3.25 . However, there is no need for concern; I have spent years soldering just about every variety and type of battery imaginable, and everything has functioned perfectly without any risk of explosions or capacity loss. My advice is to work as quickly as possible with a soldering iron, preferably using some high-quality flux-core solder—that’s the best way to go. Apply a bit of solder to the surface of the battery first, then secure the wires. Afterward, wrap it in some protective foil 😉
. You could technically dip it into distilled water immediately after soldering to cool it down instantly, but I maintain there is absolutely no danger of an explosion; you’ll only be heating it for about ten seconds.
The last two digits indicate the thickness, though honestly, it doesn't matter which one you pick as long as it fits. The voltage remains constant regardless; the only variable is whether the capacity is slightly higher or lower.

Just pick them up at Walmart, Target, or even a local grocery store like Kroger $1.75. That should be the ceiling for the price; anything more than that is a total rip-off. Oh, and make sure to solder one wire to the rim... though you could always use longer wires to reposition the battery wherever there is more room. For this kind of application, the current required is negligible—just mere microamps.

A proper solder joint shouldn't leave any droplets behind; if it does, it means either the flux evaporated too quickly or it simply failed to bond with the surface.

I've checked the Chipotega website; they only stock bare cells or blister packs. HG doesn't carry them either, I've never seen anything regarding this on the Links site, and Futura isn't any better..

I managed to salvage a beautiful HP-CQ10, but finding the battery... there isn't a single one of those batteries to be found anywhere...

Just purchase a standard cell and solder on some wire with contacts. Find someone who owns a soldering iron and feel free to do the job yourself. Just make sure to lightly sand the battery surfaces where you intend to solder beforehand, and that should do it.
P.S. There's an IC Center—Kronos—over in the Tratin district.

A few questions about the Democratic Party in IT Support ·
As wearymason4 pointed out, there isn't much to worry about here. A Cat 5 cable will reliably handle distances up to 300 meters, provided you aren't pinching or crushing it anywhere along the run. You could even leverage your existing cabling, as there's a spare pair available in each line—assuming, of course, those lines aren't already tied up with power delivery.
There are Y-adapters available for this purpose. I actually used to build them myself some twenty years ago, back before anyone bothered with auto-sensing crossover or straight-through configurations, and everything functioned perfectly fine—four computers running simultaneously at speeds exceeding 30 Mbps.

I didn't say I was making an assumption; it simply is the case.
A partial ban from a specific sub-forum implies that you do not participate there, which is why I am locking this thread. I am asking you nicely not to start new threads regarding the sub-forums where you have a partial ban.

I found no evidence of such a claim, and I believe Saba is being intentionally misleading. She made a similar error right here.

http://www.americanforum.com/showpost.php?p=75327309&postcount=3
A partial ban from a specific sub-forum means you have no right to participate in that sub-forum in any capacity, including commenting on it here.
The only recourse you have is to request the removal of the ban after a certain period of time.

It is quite clear that I can request immediate relief if I can argue that the initial ruling was completely arbitrary—which I certainly can prove, provided the moderators permit me to do so, as my goal isn't personal gain but rather the preservation of factual integrity.

I trust my meaning is clear when I use the word "imply," because it is implied that communicating with Saba is an exercise in futility, given her tendency toward exclusivity and her insistence on defending the indefensible.

Regrettably, I must point out that the moderator Dub is still failing to provide truthful information in her communications.
This spans from her comments regarding "cabbage" all the way to posts she has deleted—not just from the forum, but seemingly from her own memory.
I find myself obligated to offer Dub a partial apology if it turns out that the sequence was accidentally "serviced" by Tiki since he also oversees that area.

I propose that the thread which was forcibly locked be reopened.

Casey Bennett said:The most tragic part of all this is that you still seem perfectly fine with how you're acting.

No, it isn't mandatory for everyone to agree with your little theory that the competition has arrived and totally eclipsed this specific model. And no, they don't all have to share your opinion that the price tag is way too high—though, to be fair, in this instance, absolutely nobody has argued otherwise. But nobody. (I know, I'm using far too many negatives here, but whatever).

Look, people aren't obligated to side with you, and even when they do, they're still allowed to discuss things (or just type out endless nonsense).

Honestly, I feel like I should be holding your hand and slapping some sense into you, telling you "no, you can't act like that," after I've already issued countless warnings to everyone—and specifically to you—to stop this behavior.

Whoever needed to be penalized has been penalized; yes, the person who told you that you weren't being honest also had another post removed and sanctioned, and I am certainly not going to go around swinging an axe at people just because they lost their cool due to your constant provocations.

Furthermore, I won't punish people for past mistakes if they are behaving appropriately now. You’ve gone and triggered yet another wave of drama, and since your previous behavior has been under intense scrutiny, you have effectively earned this partial ban all by yourself. Nobody else is responsible for what's happening to you right now.

Despite your seemingly infallible sense of sophistication, I find myself compelled to point out that you are fundamentally incorrect regarding Megan Green72.

I am the same way; however, as I have stated before, audio equipment holds zero interest for me. Thank God I wasn't seduced by that particular addiction—if I had been, things would be problematic, as my wife likely would have killed me. 😁

However, my well-intentioned advice to you is to dial back the intensity. 😁
Do not write such endless manifestos (though those who actually know me will tell you this is quite hilarious, given my reputation for writing long-winded essays). 😬

Look, I do not consider unknown to be an authority on audio engineering, but he was essentially the only person on this forum for years who contributed anything meaningful to the subject, yet you all swarm him like flies on honey...
There is probably a reason for that, but it becomes exhausting to read when a sea of posts appears in just a few hours, each one longer than the last.

The issue is that your posts are so excessively long that casual observers simply cannot be bothered to read them.
We simply lose interest. It isn't that a post like that is inherently foolish—quite the contrary, it presents the facts as they are—
but I end up just scrolling past them, which leaves me with a completely skewed impression of the discussion. 😵

That post was directed at you. I respect everyone here, and one can learn something from anyone; knowledge is not a metric of character.
I have attempted to keep my responses brief, but "they" refuse to understand, insisting instead that they already "know."
That is when the friction begins. I then attempt to point them toward trivial solutions, much like the one above, but they reject them, only to bombard others again with utter nonsense while marveling at their own "brilliant" conclusions. I suppose I am starting to sound like a diary entry now, a phenomenon predicted by someone whose name I shall not mention—not because I cannot, but because there is a price to pay for such disclosures.

Not you, not woobie, nor Route 66, because I frankly doubt I would receive any coherent or useful response from them...but rather from unknown...
And even though I believe he exaggerates quite heavily regarding those famous cables, and even if he would likely just laugh at his theories on cabling, I would still turn to him for everything else...

That is your prerogative. When you desire to "drive" a starship rather than a beat-up Ford Pinto or a rusted Chevy, feel free to ask whatever questions you wish.
Until then, the aforementioned individual is more than sufficient for you.
And truly, I know nothing of Pintos or Chevys, though I did enjoy driving them. If I may ask, what is your profession? I am certain you would get an exceptionally precise and accurate answer from Route 66, as well as from woobie, whereas it is nearly impossible to get such a thing from unknown, because one must first be objective, and he is incapable of being anything but subjective.
He cannot grasp, nor can he accept, that there exists someone who possesses more knowledge than he does, provided that person isn't Methuselah. Reality is simply too much for unknown to handle.

I stepped in and resolved a man's trivial problem with a single post, devoid of empty philosophical jargon, unlike your loyal follower.
You will find that he is quite lost, and I could prove it to you anywhere, anytime, in any of his posts, but I thought better of it; I won't write any more before my trip, nor here, otherwise it will cost me more, since I stumbled into a "combat scenario" instead of listening to well-intentioned advice... or rather, a promise... boo. That is a bit strong, isn't it?
The individual known as unknown has no grasp of the fundamentals; he is merely a long-time spectator. And that is not an insult, but a plain fact. It seems you haven't read his nonsense regarding speaker cable stereo separation... it is such absurdity that it is almost inconceivable, and certainly not his greatest blunder. It drives me mad, dealing with "such" charlatans. Though perhaps this is just my natural state of being. 🙂.
But as I said, Pintos or Chevys—whatever. If you even start one up, it's the end of the world. I have seen and heard equipment that requires you to be more than just a "local" multi-millionaire; you wait for it like you're waiting for a Ferrari... and if you don't have the room prepared to their specifications, they won't even sell it to you. And if I may be so bold, the sound quality isn't even that special, though they look otherworldly. They don't talk about price; they just boast about who paid the most.
Sound sources are an entirely different beast altogether—turntables, cassette decks, MP3 players, DAT, CD players... it is absolute madness. My next turntable will be

By the way, why don't you provide a single logical argument that breaks this down into simple facts, or perhaps let your preferred expert choose.
None of us ever claimed that all cables are created equal. You either made a mistake, or you simply read where "they" claim such things about "us," employing nothing more than amateurish demagoguery.

stormybadger8 said:Perhaps I am mistaken, as for the better part of a year I have mostly just scrolled past any thread that even smells of "audio." I avoid any discussion regarding cables, blind tests, and the endless bickering that follows, because frankly, I have no desire to endure such repetitive, circular arguments.

I am not engaging in bickering, but if you go looking for trouble, you will certainly find it. Instead of turning a deaf ear, people continue to pile on nonsense like this post.

http://www.americanforum.com/showpost.php?p=7...postcount=6316

That is essentially waving a red flag.
I wouldn't even bother showing up, but I feel a sense of embarrassment regarding his empty assertions toward others. I attempt to give him a gentle warning, and yet, there he goes again, acting like the "expert."
Make no mistake, this isn't jealousy or anything directed at me personally. I am perfectly capable of writing with clinical detachment, as I previously promised. However, since you arrived here with sincerity and emotion, I am responding in kind. I once offered a recommendation to unknown and suggested we meet up at a local diner to discuss his equipment line, but it was all in vain; he simply stands on his pedestal and poses for photos. There was once a magnificent post by Route 66 that was quite vivid—perhaps I can still locate it; it was pure genius.

stormybadger8 said:What irritates me is that this constant bickering has migrated to a multitude of other topics, and even the chatrooms I used to frequent; now, I avoid them entirely.

It is hardly surprising; certain individuals have arrived who believe they truly know everything—not because they are more intelligent, but simply because they attended a university, and therefore they think they know!
My equipment functions flawlessly to this day because of how it was engineered. It was designed using precision measuring instruments and high-end devices that served as industry standards. That is why it is "painful" to see Route 66, whom I know absolutely nothing about, being harassed by chaotic ignoramuses while I write these "harsh posts"... just look at this one thread to see how another "expert" behaves after I "intimidated" him.
Once again, one must realize that an experience is one thing, but the explanation of that experience is something else entirely, especially when they are merely feeding you your own perception rather than allowing you to enter their sphere.

stormybadger8 said:I mean, if you are all absolutely convinced that you are correct regarding those cables and the blind tests—and frankly, I am inclined to agree that you are—then why on earth continue this endless bickering?
Why, for heaven's sake, the constant back-and-forth, the insults, and the repetitive arguments if you are supposedly so certain of your position? 🤷

It isn't "us" being targeted; rather, it is specific individuals who are called out in every single one of their posts.

I happened to glance at what woobiu and Gedu—that self-proclaimed light resistor and stereo separator in a single mono cable—are attempting to pull off. 🤦
If you were to read dozens of my deleted posts, which the unknown systematically removed—admittedly via reports, though there was no other choice and time was short, so they ended up in the trash along with the garbage produced by this duo—you would certainly hold a different opinion. I respect the experience provided by unknown, which can be helpful, and I see that he intends to help... but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
It is not merely that they spout nonsense; it is that they attempt to convince others of their ignorance, and then they run crying to the moderator claiming they are being victimized while "we" are labeled as common and rude.

People, please wake up... what kind of "presence" is this?
If you didn't scream when you were violated, did you essentially consent?

Here is an example, following my resolution of a man's issue within a thread.

The ramblings of a total amateur, whom I have intentionally chosen not to engage with.

Here is something for high school level understanding. Everything is irrelevant except for the shielding I mentioned in my previous post, yet the "expert" continues his arrogant lecture.

A digital signal consists of only two values and is fully restored at the receiving end regardless of anything unknown listed. Jitter is the only factor that matters. Is that sufficient proof for you that unknown has no clue what he is talking about? Though, I won't bother intervening for the sake of hobbyists and amateurs. Error correction codes exist, but that is beside the point now.

Is it clearer to you now just how merciful I am being toward him? Yet, he will persist in his ways.
I swear, he will simply take what I have written and serve it to others as "he knows what he's talking about." He doesn't even know how to use a basic multimeter; he admitted that himself.
He wouldn't even know how to turn on the equipment I work with (his English is just as poor).

If the moderator restores my post regarding power and speaker cables, you will know absolutely everything about them after reading just those two sentences.

I have nothing against "those types," but for God's sake, stop making fools out of others just so they can feel "equal."

I am truly saddened that such aggression is permitted against intelligent, honest, and above all, polite people... think about that.
That is precisely why I "dropped by"—to clarify the situation and assist those who actually wish to learn.
I am glad you reached out; it isn't mere politeness, but I hope you will reflect on your stance. Believe me, as someone with expertise in certain fields, it only takes a few words for me to gauge a person's knowledge. And these two have none. Neither bans nor deletions will change that fact. I am always prepared to prove my position, but I am more than willing to change it when I encounter genuine intelligence, as smarter people do still exist. Though, it might cost me at least a hundred dollars. But if it leads to reflection, it is worth it.
