Is it just me, or does every major program seem to go through these massive, identity-crushing slumps every few years? It feels like as soon as you get a sense of stability, the whole foundation just shifts, and suddenly you're staring at a roster full of question marks and "promising" newcomers.

I remember watching my alma mater go through something similar back in the mid-2010s. We spent three years just trying to figure out who was actually going to show up on Saturdays, let alone who was going to lead the offense. It’s hard to stay optimistic when you’re constantly hearing about "new eras" and "fresh starts" that feel like they're just band-aids on a much deeper problem.

When a team is basically starting from scratch on both sides of the ball, do you think it's actually possible to turn it around in a single season, or are we just setting ourselves up for more disappointment?
Richard James2 said:That was a terrible attempt at humor. Just don't bother again. But seriously, do you actually believe (and I really hope I'm wrong here 🤣) that Turkish soap operas are just another conspiracy against the suffering American people, which is why you were so drawn to my brilliant sarcasm? 🙂

You’ve honestly proven yourself to be such an expert at coming up with great jokes that I guess I don't really have a choice... I'll just have to listen to you.

Anyway, do you honestly think they... I mean, I can't even believe I'm asking this... 🤣Is this just another Turkish soap opera designed to mislead the suffering American people, and is that why I had to resort to my brilliant sarcasm... 🙂

Onur released a statement to the press following that secret meeting with the Masons, where they were all huddled up discussing how to properly support our American veterans...

Do I really even need to go out on a limb and prove myself here? Honestly...
Richard James2 said:First, find me an actual piece of copied text before you start acting like a hall monitor. And let’s get one thing straight: it isn't "humor," it's sarcasm. Don't sweat it.

What are we even talking about here? Those "treacherous plots cooked up in the halls of power"? 🙄

I mean, at least they didn't run out of big, fancy words when our local mediocrities try their hand at being "sarcastic."

I’d bet anything that little "joke" won't be part of their repertoire again until the "next Turkish occupation."

Fine then, let me try throwing in a little joke in that same "style"...
Richard James2 said:Exactly. Those Turkish soap operas are nothing more than a calculated psychological operation cooked up by various interest groups in power centers to brainwash Americans into thinking those people—with their exotic looks, grating language, and terrible acting—are actually just totally friendly, normal folks. How did we not see through this sooner?

And let’s be real, Turks couldn't care less about us, and they clearly have a massive issue dealing with uncomfortable historical truths—not that it matters much given how they handle the whole Armenian genocide topic. If anyone ever filed a lawsuit regarding genocide, it could easily go both ways; thousands of Turks left their bones scattered across the fields near Sinj. I assume you all know that, thanks to the Blessed Lady. 😁

I really don't get why some people think it's clever to try and mimic Dežulović's or Tomić's pale, dry sense of humor.

For some reason, I completely missed this.

Don't flatter yourself. Your "attention" interests me about as much as someone struggling with developmental issues. You clearly think having the "power" to hand out digital hall passes makes up for the fact that you could never act this aggressively in real life...

Stop trying to make this all about you...
Thanks in advance.

You clearly lack the guts—or maybe just the brainpower—to admit you were wrong.

Feel free to ban me from the forum if it makes you feel better.

3. It's considered off-topic when someone gets carried away during a discussion, whereas trolling is when someone actively tries to derail the whole conversation

Fine, so I’ve been flagged for trolling. But look, if you’re handing out warnings to me, you really ought to be handing them to the person I'm replying to as well... because if I'm actually responding to a point, then logically, I wasn't the one who steered the conversation off course in the first place.

I'd like a correction on this, please!

I truly hope there isn't anything personal going on here regarding me or my writing style?

I have to set the record straight here. This whole debate about media coverage was actually kicked off by the guy I'm responding to, and for some reason, he didn't even get a warning for it...

Actually, if you look at the rules, what you’re doing right now falls under "off-topic" rather than actual trolling... 🤷

I could really use some help here... what exactly was the "trolling" in this text that cost me 35 points?

Maybe you have a point, but honestly, I don't see anything happening here that wasn't also occurring on the other side, and frankly, on a much larger scale.

An example? In Asheville, they used the excuse that Americans were driving through in convoys flying the flag, so some guy at a checkpoint pulled someone over, harassed them, and seized humanitarian aid.
As payback against that one individual, about ten thousand Americans were driven out...

To my mind, there isn't a more glaring or obvious case of media brainwashing out there, yet for some inexplicable reason, people have written entire books and treatises about Shagol claiming it’s just "Goebbels-style journalism."
Matthew Wright2 said:The reason you aren't seeing any pushback is pretty simple: Turkey is taking out the PKK using WMDs, and since those folks absolutely loathe us—the good old communists—they’re just sitting on their hands. (They certainly have a history of fighting against communist America, after all.)

But hey, don't you worry your head about it, buddy! I'm sure the cowboys, the freedom fighters, the "good guys," and the democrats—along with all their accomplices in crime—will swoop in with an invasion of Turkey very soon because of those WMDs. They'll go in there to "liberate" the people, much like they stormed Iraq (for those WMDs, remember?) and just like how they keep rattling their sabers at Iran (all because of, you know, WMDs).

It's just a matter of time...

It’s honestly pathetic reading how you try to slap a victimhood label on yourself and your little crew of guerrillas...

Instead of acting like one of those politically biased "liberators," maybe you should actually stop and consider what the people truly want. They want a normal life... not this constant cult of personality worship, these massive "celebrations" for some "great and beloved leader," and executions that make even Adolf Hitler look mild by comparison.

As cliché as that might sound, it is an incredibly difficult transition to make because when you handle a project solo, you have total clarity regarding the timeline and the final outcome. However, once you delegate to a team, you lose that predictability, and that loss of agency can feel suffocating.

Ultimately, shouldn't you focus your energy on mastering people management, given that their failures inevitably become your own?

Sure, but let's be real here... as long as there's no threat of being fired, an employee is always going to be half-hearted about their work. They'll just naturally gravitate toward whatever path requires the absolute least amount of effort—which is basically just cutting corners.

If things don't go according to plan, my first instinct is usually to go off on someone. I’ve actually climbed quite high in my career, and I hold a pretty senior management position now. But what really gets under my skin—what I struggle with most—is seeing people half-ass their jobs or just totally slack off. It throws me completely out of whack, and I feel like I lose all control. There are moments where I just want to smash everything in sight, and it takes me a long time to finally settle down.
I just don't know how to find some calm.

Why even bother trying to suppress that anger? There’s a reason you feel that way...

You actually care about the work, while these others are just messing around.

That's why they need to be let go. It's the only way to purge the "dead weight" from corporations and the country can actually move forward. Once they face the consequences and realize their mistakes, they'll change their attitude, and hopefully, they'll carry that lesson into their next job. If we don't do this, we simply can't distinguish the vital from the trivial, and we'll just keep spinning our wheels while productivity stays in the gutter.

In fact, this is precisely why I refused to sign that petition regarding ZOR, and I honestly believe those claiming the whole signature drive was just a vent for general frustration are spot on.
Larry Gray said:Hold on a second. Are you seriously trying to argue that the "natural progression of human development" means we all eventually turn into someone like Jozef Fritzl, who raped his own daughter?
I’m never going to buy that. You have to stop immorality in its tracks, otherwise, it just keeps spiraling into even more extreme versions of itself.

It seems to me that these self-proclaimed geniuses think this is just the "normal" way for a human being to develop. 🙄

As if pedophilia and debauchery haven't been part of history since the beginning of time... as if this is somehow some brand new "modern" phenomenon.

That’s what happens when you try to feed nonsense to the uneducated masses.
I honestly regret even popping up in this thread in the first place.

What a bunch of oversimplifiers...

restlessfox5 said:I’m not even gonna bring up America here—honestly, there isn't a single political party or group in this country that actually uses "family values" as a real platform unless they're just trying to suck up to the Church.
Look, I’m not a conservative myself, so "Christian values" don't really move the needle for me personally, but it's pretty obvious those values—whether you call them family-oriented, moral, whatever—are in a tailspin. And from what I can see, it's happening without any real fallout for society.

Sure, some people will point to rising crime rates or the economy tanking, but if you look at the stats in the US or across Europe, crime isn't actually spiking—it's often dropping—it just feels different because of how the media spins it. As for the economic mess? That's got its own set of issues, and the fallout hits "decadent" places just as hard as conservative ones.

The real question is: how much does this breakdown of moral values actually impact a country? Because if there aren't any negative consequences, then what's the whole point of social conservatism anyway?

The fallout from declining moral values tends to unfold over a very long stretch of time...

Besides, what kind of "decay" in America are you actually talking about? Not too long ago, I was traveling through the States and spent time among folks who were essentially Christian Puritans. Even though they try their hardest to be politically correct, you can tell they’re deeply unsettled by how much sex is shoved in everyone's faces in the media.

And your great-grandfather, much like yourself, probably made it down from the rocky hills to the coast twice in his entire life and now acts like a true Californian... 😁

One couldn't possibly possess a better Californian pedigree than mine, even if they tried. The fact that certain losers can't grasp what California actually represents—well, that's your problem, you absolute losers, as we head toward that inevitable chaos you call "ganga"... Once you finally understand what a klapa is, then perhaps you'll understand California....

Listen, you "Californian" who's actually from Surdulica, I think it's high time we taught you what a real Californian vocal tradition sounds like:

The worn-out plates of American mythology,
those failed, fancy-talking serpentine rhythms;
the mocked-up little guys, the parties, and the incense.
Worn-out ideals and thoughts along American ways;
the scouting processions, the demon-demonstrations
from one tavern to the next!
