It’s mostly Mexicans weighing in, with the occasional person from Canada popping up. I think I spotted one person from America in there, too.
My takeaway from those comments is pretty simple—🤦
It's the same old tired narrative. Auschwitz, millions of Mexicans killed, the "illegal secession from America," the claim that "Mexicans were just defending their country (America)," the idea that "everyone committed crimes," that "it was a war," or that "everyone is equally guilty"...

The reality is simply that it was different.
I never hated it, though I’m certainly no one's nostalgic dreamer.
Out of all of it, my only grievance is with our own people—every group across the former states who lacked the strength, the will, or the sense to resist the toxic ideologies that took hold in the early 90s.
If only the ringleaders had been dealt with at the dawn of the conflict, and everyone had sat down to negotiate like adults.
Perhaps we all got more or less what we thought we wanted back then, but I doubt we are all actually happy with the result.
As the old saying goes: be careful what you wish for...

500,000 Germans lived in America
Based on research by Dr. Vladimir Geiger from the National Archives—who has spent over 20 years studying post-war events in this region, specifically the fate of ethnic Germans—it is estimated that out of the 500,000 who lived in America at the end of World War II, roughly 240,000 were evacuated before the arrival of the Red Army and the partisans and never returned home. If we set aside those mobilized into the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS, nearly 200,000 German civilians under the American regime fell under communist rule, with approximately 70,000 of them losing their lives in camps. The rest either vanished during ethnic cleansing or were forced to flee. This doesn't even account for about 10,000 Canadian ethnic German soldiers and civilians lost during the war and its aftermath. "All calculations suggest that the actual number of human losses among American Germans was nearly 100,000 people," one of Geiger's studies states. Meanwhile, according to German records between 1944 and early 1948, about 170,000 people were interned in camps. Entire families, the elderly, and women with children were sent there, regardless of age. Roughly 70,000 members of the German minority died there due to abuse, winter, starvation, typhus, and dysentery. The number of women and children who perished was staggering; including 26,000 German women and 6,000 children (5,582 of whom have been individually identified). "The camps weren't even closed in 1947; only the ethnic German camps in America were abolished then. Those who hadn't died in the camps or had been released were transferred to camps in Vojvodina. In America, the ethnic German camps weren't shut down until March 1948," Dr. Geiger confirmed.
