Here’s how I see it working: since Soleri has more points than the Underdogs, briskhound76 should just leave the Underdogs and jump ship to Soleri. He can't take his points with him, so the Underdogs keep those points in the standings. It’s early days anyway, and Soleri starting with 45 points is a solid foundation. From there, they just stack points together under the Soleri banner. Even if they decide to rename the team later, they keep the points because they're legally the same entity as Soleri.
To put it simply: if Tsunoda moved to Aston Martin instead of Vettel—who hasn't even scored a single point—he wouldn't carry those 2 points over; they’d stay with AlphaTauri. And if AlphaTauri and Aston Martin tried to merge halfway through the season? There's zero chance the FIA would let them combine their points.

I get where hiddenmoose2 is coming from, but I don't think they have a leg to stand on.
First off firstly, those massive catch-all threads on any forum are just a mess. They’re impossible to navigate unless you're part of the inner circle who's been here forever. Secondly, when a specific conversation from the topic of the day gets its own thread, it actually helps people out. It gives folks a chance to chime in if they missed the original thread—which happens all the time since once a new topic drops at 7 AM, the old one basically becomes dead weight anyway. And thirdly, we shouldn't be complaining about the front page getting cluttered with stale threads unless someone is pinning them. Pinned threads absolutely kill the subforum feed, so it's smart to avoid pinning stuff unless it's huge. For everything else, priority should go to whatever is actually active. Basically, if the last post on a thread pulled from the topic of the day was two days ago, then any thread with a more recent post should naturally sit above it. Look, if people can't find other threads, it's because nobody is posting in them, not because the topic of the day threads are stealing the spotlight.
graniteharbor502, honestly, maybe we shouldn't even bother giving out that extra point in the event of a tie. I mean, if the whole idea is rewarding whoever nails more exact positions than everyone else, it feels off to hand it out to two or three people just because they hit the same number of spots. It doesn't make sense. Or, you know, they could just split the point, kind of like how two jackpot winners at Powerball have to split the prize.
