Bryan Adams6 said:Just saw an email hit my inbox from PayPal with the subject line "transfer Successful" 🤔

I open the damn thing, and it says $58 was sent from my account to some guy eroglu (sezercik_88@hotmail.com). 😠

Anyone dealt with this before?
I reached out to the Support center, but... honestly, I’m not holding my breath for anything good.😠

There isn't much they can do for you—you probably leaked your password or login info somewhere, someone hopped onto your account, and now your cash is gone. Did you get any weird emails from "PayPal" recently asking you to verify or enter some data??

A few months back, I ran into something similar where I got an email from "PayPal" (quotes intended in both cases), but the sender was something like:
no-reply@email.payPAll.com (those last two characters were actually capital "i"s instead of "L"s) with a link to their site, claiming I needed to fill out some details as a routine check. Since I've been using them for basically a decade, it felt incredibly sketchy—first time seeing something like that.

If you click that link, everything looks legit, like you're actually on paypal.com, but you're really on some hyper-realistic clone site. You log in with a FAKE password (just to test it), and it tells you the login worked—boom, you're caught. Then they ask for the usual stuff (credit card numbers, address, etc.). In the worst-case scenario, if you fall for it, the absolute minimum you need to do is change your password immediately. I didn't take the bait because the email looked off and the whole "procedure" was totally unprecedented.

So yeah, it's entirely possible you handed over your PayPal credentials in a similar way and someone just swooped in. Money bye-bye...

Charles Wright said:I haven't even started betting yet, but I gotta admit, this has completely soured me on the idea. I was planning on depositing via PayPal. It also feels shady that they never actually refunded that tiny amount they charged just to register on PayPal.

You have to withdraw that small amount yourself; they don't just toss it back to you automatically. I've used PayPal for years—since back when they were still PayPal—and I've never had issues as long as I followed their protocols. The only real headache is how slow their customer support is; you're better off calling them instead of sending emails.
I even managed to get them to change my currency after years of usage, which is technically against the rules. 😉

Just looking for the general vibe—deposits, withdrawals, odds, just the basics, really.

The odds are usually better than average, but man, they are painfully slow to react—they'll drop them a few hours after everyone else has already moved. Payouts are quick enough, though I'm pretty sure your first one has to go through a bank transfer, but... honestly? They’ll probably just block you the second you register. 😁

Anthony Perez55 said:So, can anyone actually help me out with this "problem" mentioned above?

It's about the match

UCLA Bruins - Portland Thorns FC

Weird stuff—the game was scheduled for Dec 6th, but it got postponed...

And honestly, it feels like it just happened twenty minutes ago—I remember the UCLA Bruins scoring two quick ones right at the start, then me jumping on the over 3 goals in the first half around the 20th minute, only to lose it..
If I recall correctly, the final score was sitting at 3:0, too..

🤔🤔🤔

The game was called off in the 71st minute with the score at 3:0. It was 2:0 at halftime, so yeah, your bet is dead.

Joseph Stewart38 said:I mean, what's the clerk supposed to do before they take your cash? Just shoot a quick Skype or Viber message to see if they're even allowed to accept your slip?

I'm trying to wrap my head around how this works in the real world when they reject your payout because you're betting way too much...

In reality, it goes like this: you walk into one specific shop, place your bet, and it hits authorization, which they then decline. So, you go to a different location and they let it through. Eventually, you stop going to the first place and stick to the second one until you run into the exact same scenario. It usually depends on the sport or the league, but once they spot a pattern, you're done.

Online, obviously, there's zero chance of that—since everything is maxed out for anything over 200 bucks.

jadesailor said:Well, they probably look at it as if you played two separate slips with 150 units each. On both slips, you had those two winning legs; on one, you have this void leg, and on the other, you lost. So you won the one with the void, getting 150 * (odds of the 2 winners) * (void odds of 1) = 235.

Exactly.

jadesailor said:So I had my PayPal set up in dollars, and since I couldn't just switch the currency over, I went through the whole process of closing the account so I could open a fresh one in euros. Now, I'm totally locked out because it says my account is frozen, and when I try to sign up again using the same email, it tells me I already have an account. Anyone know what the deal is?

edit: As far as I can tell, they won't let me use the same email address—which is beyond stupid, honestly, because now they’re definitely going to give me grief about not being able to fund my transfers from the old account.
edit2: They won't even let me use the same phone number either. Who are these clowns?

It's not that they're idiots; it's just that you aren't playing by the rules, so don't act surprised when things go sideways... Just hit up Customer Service and explain exactly what you were trying to do (because, let's be real, what you're doing right now is a direct violation of their T&C). If they can link your old profile to the new one, I might even be able to help you get the new account verified on the spot. You'll be able to reuse your old email for the new account once you clear it with them—just make sure you have a backup email ready to go in the meantime. Same goes for your phone number; once they "wipe" the old account, you can use the new one as if the old one never existed.

John Bishop37 said:I’m with you there—even though I’m still pretty much a greenhorn when it comes to online sportsbooks. From what I can gather, and from listening to the real pros around here, Betfair and Pinnacle are the go-to's for single matches, while Bet365 holds their own if you're looking at accumulator bets. Honestly, I don't see much point in the fourth one. Then again, I'm not exactly pushing the limits or testing how these three handle the big whales.

You should also look into Dimes, Bookmaker/BetCRIS, SBO, and Dafabet regarding betting limits—plus, Bet-at-home isn't half bad, even if their odds aren't always the sharpest.

John Bishop37 said:Guys, I'm looking at BetOnline and checking out the German league lines for an accumulator. Just looking at the over/under spreads, for example.
Wolfsburg vs Bayern has over 3.5 and under 3.5
Mainz- Paderborn over 2.5 and under 2.5
Hamburg-Koln over 2 and 2.5, also under 2 and 2.5

Every single game has different over/under options. Am I tripping here, or is it actually like this???

That’s how it works—when you're building an acca, those over/under lines are basically engineered to sit right at a 50/50 toss-up. By the way, for the Bayern Munich game right now, the line is sitting at 3 goals. Obviously, these are all Asian totals, which means if you hit exactly 3 goals, you get your money back.

If those quarter-goal over/unders look confusing—like the "over 2, 2.5" (or 2.25 as they usually write it)—just think of it as splitting your stake into two separate bets (half on over 2, half on over 2.5). So, if the game ends with exactly 2 goals, you lose half your stake.

Look, this happens to more people than you'd think—just give it a few days. The bank will eventually fix the amount to match exactly what PayPal is asking for, then just go ahead and enter that 😉

Lawrence Castillo76 said:BetMGM has been dragging their feet for 10 days now—they're totally stalling on paying out a decent win. I sent over all my verification docs, and they gave me the whole "give us 72 hours to process" routine. Now they're claiming they sent an email to wrap up the verification, but I haven't seen a single thing in my inbox. My email is working perfectly fine, so there's zero excuse for them not hitting my inbox. Has anyone else dealt with this nonsense, or does anyone have a suggestion on how to handle these guys?

Man, I went through the exact same thing during my first withdrawal attempt (never got that "sent" email they kept insisting on), but once I actually reached out and gave them a hard time, they resent it and everything cleared. But here's the kicker—right after that, they limited my account so I could only bet $1 per hand or whatever, so yeah, that was the end of my relationship with them. Things might have shifted slightly in the last couple of years, but honestly? I doubt it. Just stay patient, keep your arguments logical and firm, and you'll eventually get your cash.

Arthur Howard said:Man, it’s such a headache—players here in the States can't even use Skrill to top up their Unibet accounts anymore. They pulled the plug on that payment method a while back, and honestly, it's just another thing to deal with.

You should really look into opening an account over at 888sport. Honestly, their lineup is just as solid as what you’ll find at Unibet—everything you're looking for is right there—but they actually give you the option to fund your account through Skrill, which makes life a whole lot easier.

It’s because they’re running on the exact same platform as Unibet—they’re actually under the same parent company—but they don't touch the same user database or the cashier system.

Morgan Thompson12 said:I really screwed the pooch by opening a Chase account in USD when I should have gone with something else. I didn't give it much thought at first, but now that I'm betting more seriously and moving bigger chunks of cash around, the constant bleeding from currency conversion fees is starting to kill me. I've got accounts spread out across a few different online sportsbooks, so I'm trying to figure out my best move here:

- ask Seattle to change the currency (though I think they rarely allow that)
- ask Seattle to just close the account and let me open a new one under a different email using the same ID (same name, same cards). If I pull that off, how realistic is it that the books—like Pinnacle, DraftKings, or others—will let me change the payout email address?
- just keep using the current accounts but switch over to Neteller
- find someone else to use their info to open entirely new accounts and a new bank account to start from scratch
- something else entirely?

Ultimately, what's the most efficient way to get my money out—ignoring speed for a second—when it comes to minimizing fees? Is it better to withdraw directly from the books to a foreign currency account, or go through Seattle or Neteller first before hitting the bank?

Thanks.

Look, they aren't going to change your currency once you've already processed a transaction... and based on what you wrote, you definitely have. So, option 2 is hands down your best and simplest bet.

Basically, pester their Goldman Sachs support with the story about wanting an account in a different currency, and then—once they tell you "no"—propose that you'll just open a new one under the same name. Once you get their blessing (don't do this before then!), drain the old account, open the new one, and hit them up to let them know it's your new primary account (they'll walk you through the process anyway). You'll have to re-verify most of your stuff—though maybe not your address—and re-add your cards and bank info. You can actually use the same email as the old account, especially if you swap the old one to some random junk email right before you log off for good—that's my advice. The sportsbooks will never know. 😉

Also, most books will let you update the payout email; it's pretty rare that they won't (unless they require the payout to match the deposit email, but even then, there are workarounds)...

hopefully nobody gets the bright idea to try and pull a stunt like that here in the States 🙂

I was actually chatting with this guy from France recently who moved over to Malta just because of how they handle gambling taxes there. It was some crazy number, like 15% or something along those lines—honestly, I didn't even bother asking if he could bet on any sportsbook he wanted, since he's living in Malta now and couldn't care less about what's happening back in France...

Feel free to drop any other tips too.. 👍

The betting limits are hit or miss—really depends on what you're putting your money on... I actually sat down and talked with their head bookie back in December, and he told me that when it comes to the big leagues, they aren't going to choke you out; they'll let you ride as high as you need. As for stacking multiple picks from the same NBA game, I haven't messed with that personally since it's just not my style, but they often run some solid odds there. Payouts are quick and the customer service is actually decent, too. Overall, it's not bad—but at the end of the day, the most important thing is knowing your cash is safe. 🙂

crimsondriver17 said:Hey everyone! Just popping in with a quick question—hoping someone here can clear this up for me. 🙂

I’ve been betting for a while now, mostly just casual stuff online, nothing too crazy or life-altering 🙂

So, I’m looking at this Bet365 promo code thing—a 100% match on your first deposit up to $100. Let's run the numbers:
if I drop $50, they toss in another $50, so suddenly I've got $100 in the account.
I get that I can't just cash out that $100 immediately because there are wagering requirements—you have to roll it over a few times at minimum odds of maybe 1.50 (writing this from memory, might be a different number, doesn't really matter).

Here’s what I’m actually wondering about: once I make my deposit and they credit the bonus, can I just pull my original $50 straight back out without touching the bonus money? If anyone knows the deal, please walk me through it.

Or, say I take the full $100 (my $50 plus the $50 bonus) and put it all on a 1.20 odd bet, and it hits.
100 * 1.20 = 120.
What am I actually looking at then? I've got $120 in the account—how much can I actually withdraw (if I even can) and why? I'd really appreciate an explanation if anyone knows how these sites play it.

Anyway, that's the question. Looking for some insight from people who actually know their way around these terms or have dealt with this before. 🙂

You won't be able to withdraw anything because they'll just claw back the bonus. Until you hit those rollover requirements, you aren't getting any withdrawals—otherwise, they just reject the bonus (and in some cases, they'll even reject your actual winnings).

Basically, if you deposit $100 and grab a $100 bonus, you’re sitting on $200 that you have to churn through a certain amount of times—say three times—at a specific set of odds, let's say 1.50. Anything you bet at odds lower than that doesn't count toward your rollover.

As for that 1.20 bet idea... I’m pretty sure that won't count toward your rollover at all, and since your winnings would be tied to that bonus money, they probably won't let you withdraw the profit either. I could be wrong, but that's usually how these places operate. 😉

bluecrane172 said:Hey, sorry if these questions have already been answered somewhere—I just don't have the bandwidth right now to scroll through every single page here🙂
So, I'm specifically looking at BetMGM since they cover pretty much every sport under the sun. I want to know if they actually let you drop bigger amounts—say, around $1,000—on singles with tiny odds, like 1.03 and stuff like that. If they do, will they start hitting me with limits after a few bets? Has anyone else dealt with this?

With that kind of betting style, they aren't going to flag you for limits—unless you somehow trip one of their weird software algorithms and get auto-banned... which is its own headache. You might still run into limits depending on the leagues, the specific sports, or the type of bet you're placing (over/under, moneyline, spreads, specials, etc.). Of course, things might have shifted over the last couple of years, but generally, you could probably swing about $300-$500 on live bets for niche stuff like table tennis, or slightly more on pre-match bets. But honestly, if you're sticking to the big-name leagues and major sports, you should be able to drop a stake like that on low odds without any issues.

Kenneth Brooks2 said:Can someone please suggest an online sportsbook (not already on my list) where I can drop at least 100 Euro on handball or volleyball without getting slapped with a 5 Euro limit after two wins? And I'm looking for actual users who have used them—I don't care about some third-party hearsay or random rumors.

The accounts I’ve already got:
188Bet, 10Bet, Bet365, BetMGM, FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, DraftKings, Pinnacle, DraftKings, BetMGM, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Victor Chandler, William Hill

You could look at Russ's DraftKings or DraftKings. It’s not like they’ll jump on you instantly, but they do need a little time to realize you're winning. As far as financial transactions and general trust goes, honestly, I trust them more than those UK books—Ladbrokes let me place exactly one (ONE!) bet before hitting me with limits, or even something like FanDuel. DraftKings was actually faster than Pinnacle when it came to withdrawals (well, until I got limited; the last withdrawal took a bit, but that was because the amount was much larger).

Betway is kind of useless for this—you might be better off trying BetMGM, though since Betsson bought them out, the limits are pretty similar (actually, DraftKings has slightly better ones depending on the league).

FanDuel is a joke.

As for the others, Leonbets operates more like a betting exchange—they basically bet on your behalf and take a cut. Their limits and offers fluctuate wildly, but they won't limit you just because you're a winner. Honestly, I think they couldn't care less either way...

The American DraftKings or 5FanDuel are also decent options. 😉

The crew from Earth is doing "participatory research," but since this Only Country is ruled by communism under those rigid laws of historical materialism, the main guy eventually starts thinking he's destined to rule that planet too.

I'm guessing you read "Roadside Picnic" in English, which is pretty standard these days. Seems weird to me, reading something in a language so close to our own in English. 🙂 I read an old translation back in the 80s.

Could be... honestly, I read it a lifetime ago...

I read "Roadside Picnic" in English, which is why I used that title. I can tackle Russian, but man, it's painfully slow and I never fully grasp the nuances. I couldn't find that specific older edition—was it part of the Centaur Library series or some other publisher?

lonetrucker4 said:Just a heads-up: if you ever stumble upon an old copy of the Strugatsky brothers' "Scoundrel on the Heath"—specifically that 1979 version from New York City published by Penguin Random House in their "Centaur" series—be careful. It’s wild. When I first read it, I had this nagging feeling like pieces were missing. Turns out, they split the translation work between two different people to handle alternating chapters. Half the story takes place in a human colony, and the other half happens out in the woods on some distant planet. Well, the guy handling the forest half totally blew it, so they just published half a damn novel! Sounds insane, but that's the reality.

The full set actually came out later in New York, back in 1988, through a Scholastic and Highlights collaboration as part of a six-book collection of the Strugatsky brothers' best work.

I actually have a copy of this one at my place😁

lonetrucker4 said:Think of this one short story—it was published back in the day, can't recall where exactly. Basically, some ancient, extinct race built this massive machine that holds all the knowledge in the universe. Now, younger species show up and start asking questions, but there's a catch: the machine only answers if the question is "properly formulated." You actually have to know the right terminology just to get an answer. It won't even bother answering a biologist asking "what is life" or "what is death," because those terms are way too narrow when you look at the big picture. Like, a worm asks about the nature of mud... and that's where it goes.

Then you've got that Science Fiction Book, "2001: A Space Odyssey"—just as deep and philosophical as hell.

Clarke basically mashes gritty technical specs and near-future tech with those grand space opera vibes that hit right on the edge of mysticism. I was twelve when we landed on the Moon—watched the whole thing on TV—and I devoured both the book and the movie a year later once they finally hit the shelves here. That stuff messed with my head in a big way, and honestly, it did the same for everyone else in my generation. Back in the 70s, we actually believed we’d have permanent colonies on the Moon by 2001, massive orbital stations (that Apollo-Soyuz mission in '75 felt like proof), and crews heading straight for Jupiter. Then there's that spiritual vibe you get from seeing the Blue Marble—that shot of Earth from deep space where everything looks so tiny yet totally unique against the infinite void. It was also when people started waking up to the environment; I actually wrote something about this recently regarding the Rio +20 summit. The first UN environmental conference was back in '72, around the same time as the "Growth Limit" study and that classic "This Only Country" book. There's just something mystical about humanity leaving the cradle and potentially evolving even further. We went from ape-like creatures to self-aware beings with brains three times the size in just a few million years—so what happens in the next few million? But yeah... that dream slowly just faded away.

The Strugatsky brothers are top-tier. They’re the ones behind the whole vibe for Tarkovsky’s Stalker.

Yeah, obviously. Personally, I think their best novel is To Be or Not to Be.

Isaac Asimov messing around with robot identity and ethics, then hitting us with that whole "psychohistory" concept in *Endowment*... heavy stuff.

I honestly have no clue how they managed to get that published in the USSR back in the 60s—maybe because of the religious critique? I read it ages ago, but if I remember right, the planet is basically under absolute totalitarian rule.

For me, "Roadside Picnic" is still the all-time favorite—you know, the one they made "Stalker" from (even if the movie and the book are pretty different). The whole concept behind the book is just pure genius; it’s the complete opposite of that human-centered worldview that's just as stubborn today as it was forty years ago.
