Get your thyroid levels and antibodies checked first. If those come back normal, then go see a therapist.
Why is it that the people who actually know their stuff are usually the biggest jerks? Honestly, our society has its priorities totally skewed. People just overlook being rude if someone happens to be an expert. But shouldn't everyone pick up those social skills after finishing school? The real issue in America is that there’s zero actual selection happening in our schools or universities. Being competent should mean you have communication skills too, including how you treat a patient.
Besides, when it comes to those doctors everyone calls the "best," you usually need a high-level connection just to get in the door. So we're stuck getting stuck with mediocre specialists who are just better at small talk.
Man, I’m sorry you’re going through all this.. really hope things turn around for you.
Maybe try snapping some pics and listing them online? If you set a "fair" price, I bet someone would snap them up in a heartbeat.
I hear you, but look—any real therapist is only going to be able to help once you’ve actually decided to lose the weight and you're ready to put in the work. It's the same deal with quitting smoking. You can try hypnosis, nicotine patches, whatever, but none of that junk works if you don't actually want it. It’s like rehab; you aren't fixing an alcoholic until they finally own up to it and say, "Yeah, I have a problem." That admission is step one. Maybe it's a grim comparison, but the logic is identical.
Look, you can go see a therapist if you’re dead serious about actually dropping the weight and changing how you live. But honestly? If you're truly ready to commit, take all that cash you were gonna blow on a shrink and put it toward high-quality groceries and a solid gym membership instead. You can't have one without the other. Just be patient and play the long game—that's where the real results stick. Even if you feel okay right now, losing those pounds is going to give you a massive confidence boost. There are gonna be weeks where the scale doesn't move an inch, but don't let it get to you. Just decide, start, and stay the course. And please, skip the typical fad diets; try something more like the Monticello approach. Good luck.
It’s just more of the same bullshit. Nothing changes. Is that really how we're playing this? They never actually fix the problem; they just discharge the patient and send them home to deal with the daily grind all over again.
Anyone dealt with something like this? A family member had their gallbladder punctured during a laparoscopic procedure, so they had to switch to open surgery mid-stream. It turned into full-blown sepsis. After two months in the ICU, the patient was sent home weighing 20 pounds less than usual, still dealing with abscesses that keep spiking a fever. This has been dragging on for eight months now, and they’ve already been hospitalized four times. There are lesions on the liver, but other organs seem fine—just a tiny cyst on the kidney. Bloodwork looks okay, except for the sedimentation rate, which has been sitting at 105 for eight months straight and won't budge. The doctors claim it’s all just fallout from the bile leakage and the abscesses and say there's nothing they can do. They’re cycling through three rounds of antibiotics every month, taking fever reducers daily, and just yesterday, the ER rushed them back in with a 104 fever. The CT scan came back clean, but there's bacteria in the blood. Right now, they're on three different IV antibiotics, and the doctors are basically dodging responsibility for the whole mess. Any advice? And I should mention the fever keeps coming back despite the meds; it disappears for a day, then hits again. It even happens when the temperature seems normal. We’ve ruled out prostate issues and cancer.
