dustyscout53 said:I've been wondering—who actually holds journalists accountable? Is there even a real way to check them?

Right now, it feels like any reporter can just launch an attack on whoever they want, regardless of whether they’re actually telling the truth or not.

Honestly, criticizing the media feels like an attack on democracy sometimes—probably because we're still stuck in old ways of thinking. Journalists have basically become untouchable, almost like the Church used to be.

Like, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times can claim that America doesn't need a Secretary of Commerce who grew up in some tiny rural town, but you'll rarely see anyone call out a columnist for, say, barely scraping through middle school with failing grades.

We get to swap out politicians every four years through voting, sure, but journalists? They only get replaced if their boss decides to let them go—and those decisions are usually based on much shadier motives.

Is there any kind of actual safeguard to protect us from bad journalism?

dustyscout53, man! You finally showed up!

Have you recovered yet from all those women and all that cash? Because if you have, it probably means you're already missing at least one or two of them. 😉

So, what's the actual question here—are you saying journalists who failed their college classes are better than politicians who got straight A's from the IMF? Come on, clarify yourself, you're being totally vague. 😬

Charles Fox10 said:So, this Gallup poll?😂

Is the president of the interim Government, Dick Cheney, lying?🤣 🤣

He only tells the truth when he's backed into a corner.

So basically, Charles Fox10, your first answer is clearly "Dick Cheney."

We can really only argue about whether he "lies whenever he breathes" or if he's just "your typical politician."

I get the feeling you're leaning toward the "lies whenever he breathes" camp.😵

Then again, a good politician shouldn't screw up in the first place. Now, if I were being malicious and brilliant—which I'm definitely not, despite what people think—I’d run a poll asking if Dick Cheney ever messed up. Then, because everyone is smart, 95% of respondents would say "no," which would prove that Dick Cheney isn't telling the truth 95% of the time (because he's too clever, as they say). The rest of the questions would be stuff like "What time is it?", "Have you talked to Solana today?", "Did you go to the bathroom today?", or "Are you a doctor?"... just super vital stuff, obviously.😬

Man, I seriously hate elections.👍 👋 👍
jadescout12 said:So, if I'm following this correctly, they're splitting off but still keeping those trade deals strictly under the table. This sounds incredibly familiar. Where on earth have I heard a story like this before?

I’ve got a gut feeling we’re about to see some serious oil smuggling heading straight toward Siouxland. 😬

Amy Brooks13 said:First off, "liar" isn't even the right word—it's more about being deceptive. And whether someone is "deceptive" isn't even a fair metric for politicians. Like Tom Steyer once pointed out, it's not necessarily about lying, it's just about not telling the whole truth. That's the playbook for any smart politician. An honest politician is just a fool who doesn't know how to play the game, and if they're also delusional and arrogant on top of that? Then you've just got a total idiot.

We saw plenty of that recently, both before and after the elections. This guy took a massive loss, yet he’s acting like he just swept the polls.

I don't waste my time with polls like this.

So what do you think about that bit where they said "He only lies 10% of the time" 😬
That applies to any smart politician. An honest politician isn't a politician, they're just a fool. And if they're a fool who also happens to be delusional and arrogant? Then you've got yourself a straight-up idiot.

So, basically, the smarter the politician, the bigger the liar. That is a really interesting way to define wisdom right there. 😵

We had a chance to see and hear someone like that recently, both before and after the election. This guy, having suffered a defeat, acts like he actually pulled off a massive victory.

I’d argue he’s just acting according to the law. The law is pretty clear about the number of mandates, the appointee, and the Prime Minister—basically, until a Prime Minister is officially appointed, nobody has won anything yet.

But hey, thanks for letting us know exactly whose side you're on. 😬
I don't participate in those kinds of polls.

WHY THOUGH?? 😢

I mean, you literally just admitted you're rooting for Dick Cheney, and that the smarter a politician is, the more they lie. Since you clearly think Dick Cheney is incredibly wise, it's obvious your heart is pulling you to check box number one: Not just a liar, but a total Dick Cheney-level liar..

What's wrong with that, when that's clearly how your brain is working anyway? 🤷

jadescout12 said:An embargo on gunpowder? 😁

Oh, please. Alcohol, cocaine, and syphilis—those will be delivered by Americans themselves in massive quantities, basically acting like free brotherly aid, so don't you worry about that. There isn't much we can even attempt to smuggle in ourselves at this point. 😵

Here’s a little poll that feels pretty damn relevant right now. It's a dead simple question, one I think everyone can wrap their heads around. Looking back at how things have played out politically over the last seven years, just tell me: Is George W. Bush a liar?

🙂
jadescout12 said:The kind of grassroots movement you saw during the velvet revolution could totally work for the Sioux Republic or even the Sioux Nation projects too.
I'm a little confused about the Z4 thing, though—who exactly counts as the minority here?
Also, is there any way to actually make some cash off this? Like, if we declare an arms embargo, prices would skyrocket overnight!

Sea, sea... man, those white Americans will be out there handing out yogurt immediately. The only issue is the prep work—you gotta have the low-fat ones, then the 0.9%, then the full-fat, then the soy-based ones, then fruit flavors, then kefir, then ABC cultures... god, this consumerism is just exhausting. You can't even pull off a Velvet Revolution without someone starting a freaking war over their right to choose their flavor profile.🙄

I don't really get the Z4 thing, who is actually considered the minority here?

Common sense.

Is there any way to make some money off this? Like, we declare an arms embargo and suddenly prices double overnight.

I'm not so sure America is going to be exporting bows and arrows, because honestly, I don't think the Sioux will have much else to offer beyond that. And damn, it wouldn't be fair if they won this time. They got handed guns once in their lives, went ahead and beat the Americans at Little Bighorn, and ever since then, nobody's been giving them anything more than slingshots. For sure, for sure.😬
hiddengardener84 said:Cut it out. Things were going just fine for Native Americans for the whole time those Europeans were around. 😂 🤣 ☕ They didn't kill them. They didn't rape their women. They didn't seize their land by force. And worst of all? They never forced them out. People actually wanted to be relocated against their will, and they were moved to other territories by force. 🤷 They can never be the villains in their own story. They’ll never admit to a single dirty massacre, and don't even get me started on the genocide. So what's their problem now? Why are they suddenly whining? 🙄 😢

Apparently, the main crisis erupted because schools stopped serving them those massive 8-ounce ice cream treats at snack time and switched to the tiny 5-ounce ones instead. 🤷

Talk about a total violation of their human rights and minority protections. I mean, I wouldn't know about the Pedersons.

😬
jadescout12 said:Should we set up some special committee to watch over the civil rights of these newcomers since they'll be a minority now?
At the end of the day, we're talking about democracy here. Personally, I’m all for supervised independence—maybe once spring rolls around and everything starts blooming again.

Yeah, sure, let's just keep asking for "more, more." We've got the whole Z4 plan ready to go where everything is perfectly laid out, right?

And hey, maybe we can borrow a few tricks from what happened in Mexico. I hear they developed some real "expert" negotiation tactics over there. You know, the kind where everyone just talks past each other until nobody knows what's going on. "It's like two blind men trying to play chess in a dark room."

😵
Linda Hughes88 said:They're filming a new Western movie, oh my goddddddddddd!!!

Short version: "Osage bin Tatanka, that infamous Native American terrorist, hacks into the main mainframe at a nuclear base out in South Dakota. He leaves a message. The President gets the message, sure, but nobody can actually read it because apparently, absolutely no one understands the Sioux language anymore. It leads to this total disaster scenario where the smart, brave, righteous white Chief comes out on top, while those proud Native Americans get wiped out just because they were stupid enough to be so damn prideful. Buy L'oreal face cream, only $9.99 a tub—call this number before the movie ends for a discount"

🙂
So, what, we wait nineteen years after breaking away from the USA just to end up getting folded back into the Union? 🤣
James Fowler52 said:go lakota go😁 I mean, things might actually stand a chance if all the Sioux people just decide to pull together. If anyone has a legitimate claim to sovereignty on current US soil, it’s gotta be the Native Americans—and honestly, the Sioux are just one part of that much bigger picture.

I guess the real question is whether those big-shot human rights activists and all those organizations that usually jump on stuff like this will actually step up and back them.

First, they’ll slap the "terrorist" label on them, then the mighty US Army will just flatten them into the dirt, tossing anyone left over into concentration camps. And you know what? Clinton will probably stand there praising how "democratic" the whole operation was while expressing his deepest, most heartfelt regrets over the tiny, practically non-existent amount of collateral damage—you know, the 95% of people who didn't make it.🤣
Quickly now, quickly—I mean, will Vaclav Havel, in all those fiery speeches where he plays the champion of human rights, ever actually bother to look back at the righteous, century-long struggle of the Sioux? Just like how he’s always pointing fingers at the legitimate fight of the Chechens in Russia???

I'm genuinely dying to know what the world's most famous human rights advocate has to say about this! Or maybe those ten mansions the Americans gifted him have finally tied his tongue when it comes to the actual right of minorities to secede within the USA?

🤣 🤣 🤣
Susan Moore76 said:The Lakota Indians, part of the legendary Sioux nation, have officially declared their ancestral treaties with the USA null and void, launching an international campaign to reclaim their sovereignty.

"We are no longer citizens of the United States of America," stated Russell Means, one of the most prominent Native American civil rights activists, during a press conference held in Washington, D.C. He went on to invite anyone living within the five states that encompass their traditional territory to join their cause, according to USA Today

Something to think about...

Whoa! So now the USA is gonna start fighting terrorists on its own home turf! 👍
Look, I can see it now. Andrei Illarionov is going to make a killing over the next few years. He’ll be touring around the US, lecturing at all those fancy Western universities, basically pulling back the curtain on what Putin’s regime is actually about. Just one sit-down interview with Larry King and he’ll probably walk away with half a million bucks easy. Then comes the book deals—he'll write all these deep dives into the true nature of Putin's rule, and they'll be shipped off to every prestigious Ivy League school in the country.

Who knows? Maybe he’ll even snag a Nobel Prize.

😵
quietharbor63 said:Supposedly, the language barrier played a huge role too.

Basically, Quote : Che Guevara spoke Spanish, yet he tried to kick off a guerrilla war among illiterate Native Americans who were all speaking Guaraní.

Man. 👍

Honestly, I wouldn't even be shocked if they actually tripped up over such a stupid mistake (even though you hear guaraní spoken in the USA too)

Anyway, revolutions in Venezuela also fell apart back in the late 60s and early 70s. I remember reading an interview with one of the former leaders years ago. He said they kicked off the revolution and everyone went totally rogue, fleeing to the countryside and hiding out in the woods. Everything seemed great on paper—the revolution is moving, people are studying Marx and Engels, soaking up the lessons from October and Cuba... the whole action and struggle vibe... but then the movement just stalls. No new recruits are coming in. And then it finally hit them: 95% of the population in Venezuela lives in the cities. 😵
Nathan Bailey65 said:Setting up concentration camps, carrying out executions...
And people still defend these so-called "leftist heroes" of ours.

I mean, he really mastered the craft, right? He's basically just a perfect imitation of an American. 👍
Morgan Cook10 said:From what I gather, Marshall was mostly just into the high life—partying with endless crowds, hunting big game, knocking back gallons of whiskey, and all those other "revolutionary" pursuits.
I highly doubt getting his suit dirty out in the Amazon would have been considered "revolutionary" enough for him!!!

But hey, like I said... there's only one Che!

Well obviously, he wasn't stupid—that's exactly why he lived to be 88. 👍

But like I said... there's only one Che Guevara!

That was his biggest issue right there. If there had been more of them—say, a couple million—they actually could have built something. 😬
Morgan Cook10 said:Man, Che is an absolute legend!! Look, even if you don't buy into his whole revolutionary philosophy, you have to respect one thing: the guy stayed true to himself and his vision. Instead of just sticking around in Cuba sipping whiskey, smoking cigars, and living the high life in some bourgeois villa like Castro or those local "revolutionaries" we see around here, he actually saw things through to the end.

It looks like all that relaxing, drinking, and smoking caught up to him though—put on a little weight and trashed his lungs, so he couldn't move quite as fast through the Amazon as he did back in Cuba. Hey, what can you do? Just a classic revolutionary mistake... I hear Marshall had a tendency toward that kind of stuff too. 😵
Linda Hughes88 said:Che, basically a fashion icon and a criminal all rolled into one 🙏

just the ultimate idol for those edgy teenagers who are already bored to death of Britney

A criminal? Oh, absolutely. He was a serious criminal—he wiped out the main income stream for those poor little mobsters over in Cuba. They actually had to pack up and move to Las Vegas together after that, which I hear hit them pretty hard.
