The opinion in Rolling Stone isn't particularly relevant. Well, I mean, it is—but only to those people currently circling the drain.

Have a pleasant night.

👋

Honestly, I think you’re just proving you’re the Gojko Susak of the century. Every single post you make confirms it.
Master of Puppets said:Who exactly said they were being "kept in a sack"? I’m curious—what exactly are you implying there? 🙄 They just made a massive scene and reached out—it really was that simple. Honestly, The New York Times has this long-standing tradition of publishing nothing but anti-American hit pieces; they practically salivate at the chance to tear us down. It’s almost predictable at this point. In my view, The New York Times functions more like a lightweight bulletin for the Communist International than anything else.

I honestly think your post belongs in a satirical column over at Rolling Stone—the kind where they sketch out all the nonsense people are buzzing about these days. I’ll say it, even if this topic gets me banned from this forum for the next thirty years (though I’m sure the local right-wing crowd will be up in arms, crying about how they’re constantly being censored anyway). "Because The New York Times is just a budget newsletter for the Communist International." Honestly? You could mention the Jewish lobby in the same breath as calling The New York Times a mouthpiece for communists and nobody would blink an eye. It's completely unbelievable.
Master of Puppets said:I have to disagree here—this entire take feels pretty hollow. At least this time, the author isn't spinning wild fabrications. They aren't dragging up old ghosts or obsessing over Gojko Susak and his particular brand of right-wing politics. This is just noise for the sake of noise.

When are we going to realize that nobody outside our borders actually gives a damn about the chants, jokes, or slogans being yelled at a local football stadium in the States?

EDIT: The only people who care are the ones making a comfortable living off chasing "villains" and peddling cheap sensationalism.

Even Nicholas Wood wouldn't have a clue what was happening if he hadn't been prompted by certain agents in Washington, D.C.

If nobody cares, then why would a major publication even bother covering it in the first place?
Are you suggesting these local agents are powerful enough to pull the strings at The New York Times? That’s a massive stretch.

TUESDAY 10.7.

The Split Society of "Fans"

It was almost predictable—one could see it coming—that certain newspaper commentators would attempt to link the nationalist imagery at a Marko Perković Thompson concert in Central Park with the incidents at the Pride parade in Washington, D.C. If you take that comparison, toss in a healthy dose of fabrications, and you get the usual tired narrative: once again, the entire country is being painted with the dark brush of "revived fascism" and other grim labels. On the fringes of this "ghoulish commentary," an angry letter surfaced from the diaspora—sent from New York City—in which an embittered expatriate argues that in Norval, Canada, there never was, nor is there, such a thing as a "fascist faction" within the local Franciscans from whom Franjo Harmon supposedly "sourced his funds." This letter serves as a rebuttal to one of those increasingly vocal leftist agitators in Split who—alongside those supposed "fascist Franciscans"—tried to drag the late Šuškov into the Thompson saga by mentioning his right-hand salute during the Alka festival. Back when I was an editor, I actually published a photo of that specific gesture; if you look closely, you can clearly see three fingers curled and two extended—a sign of victory aimed toward the Royalists, who were stationed only a few miles away. And those very same Royalists—on their radio stations, which I have also written about—employed journalists who would eventually join the ranks of today’s Split media "devotees" of Marko Perković Thompson!

What exactly are you referring to in VL? I am only seeing the homepage.

Think about what that would actually do to the economy, society, healthcare, schools, sports, the legal system... just total chaos...

The issue isn't whether they're shouting it or not—the problem is the blatant hypocrisy of staying silent about it until some foreign outlet like The New York Times picks up the story. That's when the frantic damage control starts, with everyone suddenly pivoting to explain how we are such a progressive, inclusive nation.

As for the heart of the matter, it would be a refreshing change of pace if we finally put an end to those hateful extremist slogans—much like we should with racial slurs—at our stadiums.
I’ve said this 1 said:Good grief—the sheer amount of "wisdom" you've dumped into this thread is staggering. Aside from just copy-pasting and essentially patting yourself on the back, the rest is just a series of insults directed at everyone else. Talk about hypocrisy.🤣

Oh, please—let me clarify this for you and the rest of your cohort playing the defensive: I congratulated the columnist because I actually enjoyed the piece. I shared the entire column, including all its reasoning, context, and situational nuances. I didn't walk in here posing a leading question designed to force a specific answer. Honestly, if you disagree with the author, I expect you to actually address their points rather than pivoting to how they might use recreational drugs... after witnessing these hyperventilating outbursts, it’s pretty clear the opposition has nothing substantial to say, especially you.

Your supposedly profound analysis boils down to "he's a hypocrite, and so are you." Truly riveting. So, by all means, explain to me exactly why Damir Pilić is a hypocrite—even if we entertain the rumors about his casual drug use (though I'd love to know who here actually has any credible insight into that). Or perhaps you're just stung because he charmingly suggested that certain political factions are practically illiterate? There's probably a reason people are getting so defensive. Anyway, goodbye, hyperactive.
Bradley Phillips35 said:"For glory and honor!" is basically our version of a warrior's battle cry...

The only way we'd ever find ourselves shouting "Death to fascism!" is if we were actually playing against Italy!!

As for "Za dom spremi!"—personally, I feel like that sounds more like something a macho guy would shout when he walks through the door and realizes his wife hasn't even started making dinner yet.🙂
Charles Jackson5 said:Heh... 👍 😛

Thanks, but this is Damir's handiwork—I'd rather not get too aggressive and start swearing at him just yet... though I have to admit, that bit involving Marković was absolutely brilliant. 🙂
Nathan Bailey65 said:Oh, please, bring back Damir pilić...😂
Someone really ought to ask him if he’s still pushing for the legalization of "soft" drugs—even though we all know any real expert would tell you there's no such thing as a distinction between light and heavy substances.

Go ahead—name one. Unless you're planning on naming Jadranka Kosor?
Get ready for The New York Times!
The chaos at Central Park will keep escalating until Nicholas Wood finally shows up at the stadium

Death to fascism, roared the "North." Freedom to the people, bellowed the "East." Death to fascism, chants the "North." Freedom to the people, responds the "East." Death to fascism, again from the "North." Freedom to the na...
Well, that’s what happens when your notes get tangled. My apologies to my dear readers: I happen to be writing an SF-roman about modern America in parallel with this column, and in my confusion, I’ve inadvertently insulted everyone who spent Saturday night diligently cheering for the national team at Central Park. Didn't catch the match against Estonia? Honestly, brothers, I might have to start questioning your patriotism.
I’m certain every "decent American" felt a bit of a chill while listening to the North and East stands of the stadium harmoniously complementing one another by chanting our old greeting, "za dom spremni!". The ABC commentator didn't dare utter a single word regarding the crowd's behavior—perhaps out of sheer emotion, or more likely, fear of losing ten percent of his paycheck. Tomorrow’s sports journalists will unanimously skip over this detail in their reports, and they won't be alone: US Soccer stays silent, the coach stays silent, even the players stay silent...
You want me to tell you what’s going to happen next? I’ll tell you: absolutely nothing will happen, except that the author of this column will receive his usual mountain of angry, pedantic emails—the kind characterized by a rather shaky grasp of English syntax and grammar.
Nothing will move the needle until the day Nicholas Wood from The New York Times wanders into the stands at Central Park and realizes he could easily rewrite the opening of his recent review of Thompson's concert: "Thousands of fans in a packed capital city stadium gave a Nazi salute..."
Only then will the US Federal Government issue a press release condemning the celebration of Nazism, and Vlatko Marković will quietly let out a satisfied little toot.

Brilliant commentary. Are we hypocrites, or is this just our official policy?
Alleged red light violation! in Law ·
velvetseal9 said:A few days ago, I got pulled over at the border like some kind of high-profile fugitive, and the police went through my entire car and ended up seizing my driver's license—it was nothing but a massive, unnecessary headache.
The whole thing stems from an alleged red-light violation that supposedly happened about a year and a half ago. They’re basing this entire ordeal on a single police report, which is the only "evidence" they have. I never signed that report, and there isn't even a photo of me actually running the light or anything to substantiate the claim. On top of that, they used this expedited citation process that I wasn't even aware was happening; apparently, in eighteen months, the police failed to send me a single summons, notice, or any official documentation to let me know there was a case against me! Now, out of nowhere, my license is suspended for two months for an incident where they can't even prove I was present, let alone that I committed the infraction. I tried heading to the local courthouse, but they told me they don't handle this—they said it’s handled by the second precinct of the Port Police Department, which is where the original citation was filed. The entire situation is riddled with logical fallacies and procedural failures, so I’m wondering what my options are here. Regardless, my next move is to head down to the Port precinct this Monday...
Is this even legal under our laws???

Well, I think I read somewhere in one of the threads that the statute of limitations for enforcement is a year... maybe do a little digging on that. This whole thing sounds incredibly shady to me—and you said this happened at the border??

The pain isn't even that intense, to be honest—it’s more about the awkwardness of bringing it up with my doctor. I really don't want her thinking I'm just some attention-seeker trying to claim disability benefits I clearly won't qualify for; after all, I didn't rush myself straight into the ER immediately after the accident, nor did I put on some dramatic performance involving clutching my neck and acting like the world was ending. It’s just... embarrassing. My main concern is actually just this lingering stiffness in my lower back area.
If you’re planning on taking this to court, honestly, you’re just throwing money down the drain paying lawyers only to end up losing anyway—and then they’ll probably tell you to appeal to the European Union in Brussels, which won't do a damn thing because the system is rigged. Blecic has already lost (just look at the precedent set by the Supreme Court case, Blecic vs. USA). You really should have applied for the housing assistance program meant for former legal residents, but since you missed that deadline too, don't hold your breath waiting for a replacement apartment. Sorry, but I don't have anything more optimistic to offer—I'm just repeating what I've seen happen to people close to me.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? It’s been two days since my car accident, and the aches and pains are only just starting to set in—which, frankly, is a bit unsettling. I’m starting to doubt whether this is just a standard whiplash situation; the impact from behind was pretty substantial, to say the least. What should my next move be here? Any advice on which specific referrals I should be asking my doctor for to get this properly looked at?
Traffic violation procedures in Criminal and Misdemeanor Law ·
There’s also this thing called a formal warning or a reprimand... I remember reading about this in the papers a few years back—apparently, some high-ranking judge over in San Francisco racked up about fifty different traffic violations, things like speeding and whatnot, and every single time, the local Police Department just slapped him with a slap on the wrist via a warning. Then you have the Bernie Sanders situation in Washington, D.C., which was actually a relatively positive example of accountability. But honestly, as long as these corrupt types are running the show, we need to make sure there are actual consequences. So, my advice? File that appeal while you still have the chance!
