I reinvested my AT&T dividends into... in Stocks ·
If there were a second option available, what do you think it would look like?
Intel IPO in Stocks ·
I'd say that intro serves as a pretty solid heads-up, don't you think? :P
Better just keep your own doors locked 😛
Intel IPO in Stocks ·
Why would they close up shop?
Just my own little thought experiment here 😁
Well, if you look at it, there are really two ways this could play out
He sells everything at $100, the price climbs up to maybe $120
Or he sells at $100, and the price drops down to $80
Which scenario actually works better for him?
Especially since there aren't many big players buying in anymore, so he doesn't even need to pump the stock just to cover his costs with fewer shares
Personally, I think the second option is the perfect setup for him—sort of like how things worked out for Tedeschini

So, I was just wondering, will they end up rewriting the deal from Goldman Sachs or what exactly is the plan here?
I mean, imagine if they sell off the shares at $33
. If the price drops down to 80, they could just swoop in and buy them all back to regain full ownership. They’d essentially profit from the spread between the sale and the buyback, right?
That would be a difference of less than 0.6% 😁

How the Federal Government governs in Economy ·
So, a state-run hospital is falling apart, and the facilities feel like they’re stuck somewhere in the mid-1800s, right in its central wing?
Well, there's an easy fix: just organize a charity drive.
You'll spend a little bit on advertising through major networks like ESPN, but hey, let's just call it a "strategic investment."
You can even dream up some social mixer, giving everyone a chance to have a little fun while they tackle such a "critical" issue.
Then, you simply sit back and wait for the calls to pour in from naive citizens who get swept up by photos that look like they were pulled straight out of a mid-century episode of Sherlock Holmes set in New York City. You'll take call after call, after call.
And those cheerful little executives will be sure to mention how much is being raised every single time.
The Federal Government will just keep smiling, because those donations are essentially subsidizing the repairs for a public hospital—the very same hospital that those unsuspecting taxpayers are already funding through massive portions of their gross pay, which most people don't even realize they're paying.
And it doesn't stop there; the extra revenue from those contributions will just pad your budget via the IRS.
The leftover cash gets split between AT&T, the hospital, and that restaurant owned by your buddy where you hosted the whole fundraiser.
In the end, this becomes your trademark, much like those rare instances of successful administrations that promote "charity inflation" whenever they need to dip into a budget that's already weighed down by the salaries of countless other government officials.
A perfect ten for our Federal Government.
Charity Drives & Fundraisers in Health ·
I am absolutely losing my mind here
It feels like we’re seeing total inflation when it comes to these charity drives
Just dial up and donate via the service number $1.75
And hey, while you're at it, let's let AT&T make some money for the country so they can collect their share of the sales tax
Seriously, what on earth is this government doing?!?!?
Isn't it their fundamental job to actually look out for its citizens?
We end up donating to a hospital just so the hospital can go out and buy basic equipment
But wait—isn't the hospital already supposed to be supported by the state? We pay our taxes and various local levies constantly, so isn't the government responsible for funding hospitals, medical machinery, social services, and all that stuff?!?
We are already paying for these things
So where is all our money actually going?!?!?
The government takes our money for these services, and then they turn around and ask us to donate for those exact same things again
It's a complete disaster

I’ve always found myself really drawn to Milan Kundera’s *The Unbearable Lightness of Being*. It’s such a profound read, don't you think? 😁

steeltiger5 said:True, you possess an incredibly rare gift. Given how much of a race to the bottom people have become in this modern pursuit of nothing but money and material status, it’s uncommon to see someone resist. If you have that innate spark—that primal pull from within your soul—you can actually push back against those "addictions." I see some people already coming at you, trying to claim you're just being pretentious or whatever else. Honestly, they're just envious of your integrity and the fact that you operate on a higher level than they do. In my view, the only real metric for a person's worth is their kindness.

Yeah, they’re just jealous of that incredible emotional intelligence she has.
I wonder how old she actually is?
I mean, she described it so beautifully, didn't she?
Who wouldn't be a little envious?😁

You might actually make an incredible healer, using these gifts for something meaningful. Either way, you seem like a positive person with an open heart—like your heart chakra and solar plexus are wide open. But the most important thing is to engage in something tangible, maybe a physical job or hobby, just to stay "grounded" and healthy. It sounds like you have massive emotional intelligence, and usually, that goes hand-in-hand with high cognitive intelligence. 🙂 Sometimes carrying that level of sensitivity is heavy, so it's vital to stay rooted in reality and keep your feet firmly planted in everyday life! Wishing you the best!👍

though maybe you could also fly around on a broomstick😁

It seems like you're having a bit of trouble grasping what was actually written
despite all that emotional intelligence you claim to have
honestly, it doesn't seem to be doing you much good at all, does it?

Look, you’re partially right, I guess, and yeah, if you have high EQ you might navigate certain things better in life and blah blah blah... fine, that’s all great when we're talking about corporate nonsense.
But generally speaking, having a high EQ is just good for your own happiness...
You don't need to be a shady street hustler, or a manipulative jerk, or some kind of con artist just to have high EQ; it’s more about simply understanding the world around you, accepting yourself, and being content with who you are...
Have you ever actually sat down and taken one of those tests? Because if you look at the questions...
They aren't questions like "how can you shift the blame onto someone else without anyone noticing"...
Most of them are more along the lines of "well, I don't really know"...
At the end of the day, EQ has everything to do with a person's overall satisfaction with life...

I think you might be misinterpreting EQ,
Okay, you aren't entirely wrong, and sure, if you have high EQ, you might navigate certain things better in life—fine, let's say regarding corporate nonsense.
But generally speaking, having high EQ is just good for your own happiness.
You don't have to be street smart, manipulative, or some kind of con artist to have high EQ; it's really just about understanding your surroundings, accepting yourself, and being content with who you are.
Have you ever actually sat down and taken one of those tests? Just look at how the questions are framed.
They aren't questions like "In what way can you shift blame onto someone else without anyone noticing?"
Instead, they are mostly things like "Well, I guess..." type scenarios.
At its core, EQ is deeply connected to a person's overall satisfaction with life.
Violet made a great point here.
The concept of EQ is actually starting to fade away even in the US, which is where it originated in the first place.
Intelligence, by its very definition, is something innate and relatively constant that stays with you your whole life,
from birth (with perhaps very minor deviations).
"Emotional intelligence" feels more like an attempt to define a sociological relationship between individuals, but since those dynamics are so conditioned by circumstances and so easily changed by life itself, it seems pretty pointless to label it as a form of intelligence at all, emotional or otherwise.

Wait, how did you even time that?
I mean, is it actually possible to maintain eye contact while checking your watch at the same time?
Oh, wait, I see what happened here.
It’s highly likely that while you were busy staring intently into their eyes, they were actually glancing down at their watch—so how exactly are you reading their mind now?
Everything makes sense to me all of a sudden.
And honestly, you’ve definitely found the right corner of this forum for these kinds of debates.😉

Gregory Turner35 said:Hey, you little devil. I’m right there with you on that whole thing about picking up on people's vibes and actually getting how they feel. For me, though, it all comes down to eye contact. Like, when I look someone straight in the eyes, I feel like I can just read their mind—know exactly what's going on in their head or how they're feeling. Some people have figured me out, though, and now they won't even look me in the eye.

Who knows what kind of eyes you've got if people are avoiding them in the first place?
Like, sunken and bloodshot... 😁

Dear Cosmo,
I really need to vent because I’m struggling quite a bit
After graduating medical school at the top of my class, marrying a prominent entrepreneur here in Chicago—who was actually honored by a major national women's business association as Husband of the Year—and realizing I’m on track to become a Chief of Medicine at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country, all while raising two incredible children who are basically academic superstars (well, they're valedictorian types almost every single year, give or take a season), I’ve come to this startling realization: I am not happy. In fact, I feel somewhat cursed.
It’s because when I look at the people around me who don't have any of these things, it seems so much more "normal" to live without them than to live with them. If that's the norm, then why does my life feel so abnormal? It makes me feel truly unsettled.
Why am I so successful?
Why does my life read like a fairy tale?
Can a fairy tale ever actually be reality?
Because I am a logical person, I know a fairy tale can't be real, yet here I am living one, and honestly, I'm starting to worry that something is fundamentally broken within me.
I am asking for your help.
The thing is, I’m not on great terms with a colleague of mine who is a psychiatrist, so I was wondering if you could perhaps put in a good word for me with her?
Thank you.

PS: By the way, I am incredibly charming—everyone raves about me—which just adds another layer of weight to my weary shoulders.
Why am I so damn good at everything? (Oops, let me rephrase that!)
