Bottas was brought in to do exactly that.☕
At the end of the day, Toto was totally public about this when he was looking for a replacement for Nico Rosberg—he even said they picked Valtteri because of his non-confrontational character and blah blah, basically saying he didn't want a team where drivers are constantly clashing...

Anyone actually following Formula 1 who isn't blind or deaf knew damn well he was brought in to be a pure No. 2 driver. Bottas knew it too, and you can bet your ass it's written right there in his contract.
Honestly, this kind of stuff isn't new in Formula 1 history—it always has been and always will be.
And realistically, that’s been his one and only job at Mercedes all these years, and Bottas definitely got paid well for it.
If he hadn't agreed to it, there wouldn't be any money involved, and he probably wouldn't even have a seat in Formula 1 anymore—just look at his former teammate Felipe Massa, who was the exact same type of obedient team player...

None of that changes the fact that Bottas either won't or can't play that role now, and God knows what Lujo gains by pointing it out publicly. Like when he told him to just enjoy "his" reward for the PP after that engine penalty. Totally unnecessary and low.

Just reading Lujo-like comments right now, and man, it’s pure delusion—first he blames Valtteri Bottas for a bad start (coming from the guy who’s been starting worse than good lately and keeps flying straight into corners), then claims he "envisaged it differently" so Bottas ends up getting overtaken while simultaneously blocking Max Verstappen. This "I had envisaged it differently" line is just too much. Sorry the world didn't align with your little vision, I guess. 🙏

All that's missing is for Bottas to drive the whole race for him, while Lujo shows up to grab the trophy and wave to the masses during a break from composing music and designing ugly outfits. Sure, two drivers in a team are supposed to cooperate, but how Mercedes-Benz imagined that working with a driver they just kicked to the curb? Even a dog wouldn't buy that nonsense. Good luck at Alfa Romeo, Bottas—you'll be fighting for 10th place on a good day, but you definitely won't find any of this cerebral sex there.

What Valtteri did was a massive, massive mistake. Or rather, what he *didn't* do.

Yeah, because we've spent years—especially this season—expecting Valtteri to just suck it up and get out of the way whenever possible. He needs to clear a path so our Luxury driver can actually have a shot at the title. The team doesn't owe him a thing after how they tossed him aside.🙄

Alright, so that's happened twice so far. Twice in 18 races. ☕ I just really hope the 2022 car design actually makes racing better like they promised—because without DRS, we'd basically never see anyone overtaking on track.

stormybadger8 said:Another perfect example—look at Bottas stuck behind Ricco. That speed gap was massive on Bottas' side, so he stood absolutely no chance.

Honestly, this is just a rerun of every single time this season Lewis got stuck behind Lando and couldn't pass him for the life of him. Either Lewis and Bottas are just total amateurs who can't handle one kid and some random guy like Ricco—totally possible—or you're in that spot where if you push too hard to close the gap, you totally wreck your car by driving through dirty air (also totally possible). If it was the latter, Perez would've probably been trailing Lewis until the finish line on old tires and still wouldn't have passed him.

It’d be pretty cool to run an analysis at the end of the year to see how many overtakes actually happen in the final stages. Just guessing without actual data here, but my vibe of the season is that track position is mostly decided right at the start, and then everything else comes down to strategy, weather, and pit stops—plus whatever mistakes happen there. Even in those nail-biters where they're chasing someone down to the line, there's rarely any passing left. The only thing that comes to mind is Bahrain, where Max Verstappen passed Lewis near the end, but then had to give the spot right back, and couldn't pull it off a second time.

Sergio was one of those drivers who just flew under the radar last season, but he's finally finding his rhythm now that he's in the RB16B, which was basically built specifically for his teammate.

Just wait until George Russell decides to give him a run for his money in that 2022 car.

Honestly, it’s about damn time—especially since he got the lucky break of not getting kicked out the second he started stalling, which we've seen plenty of already.

Mercedes is totally falling apart

Red Bull Racing pulled the same stunt with Perez at the Silverstone Circuit.
graniteharbor502 said:Let's move it—how much of a wreck are we looking at in Turn 1? Name names.

A 4-car pileup at Turn 1: Perez, Valtteri Bottas, Max Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton.

Since Lance Stroll is basically at the back of the pack, I'm not expecting any total chaos.

Not gonna happen—it's honestly depressing.

Everyone’s acting like Sergio Perez actually did something—it's like they think he beat Max or something. Total joke. 😂

Nah—they're just hyping up his move to Alfa Romeo.

Still a mess, but at least Ricc managed to crash the party with the leaders 😂

It was intense for like thirty seconds, now it’s just straight boredom. ☕
I’m just praying we don't get any absolute garbage out of this race—if there’s a red flag or a bunch of pointless pauses, I am seriously gonna pass out mid-race. 🙂
Bottas has been driving like a total amateur ever since he escaped that toxic team orders mess over at Mercedes.
Yeah, I finally figured out which qualifying sessions I'm gonna miss 🤣
Total disaster for Ferrari—Richie’s gearbox gave out and Lando barely scraped 12th. Honestly, Franklin is going to steamroll them in this race like it's nothing. 🤦
Got a link for that statement? I totally missed what he actually said.
frozenheron7 said:Man, he’d absolutely smoke Max—no doubt about it. And by extension, the whole damn grid, since he’d be sitting pretty at the top of the standings.

Look, I love Daniel Ricciardo, really, but I love the truth more—and the truth is his prime is long gone. Between that rough last year at Red Bull Racing, those two mediocre seasons at Renault, and this shaky start at McLaren... yeah, he might grab a podium here or there, maybe even a win that makes everyone go wild. I’ll be the first one to 🎉, but let's be real—Lando is just driving circles around him.
