Ovaries: Cysts and related issues [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Jacob Barrett15 said:Hi, I’m dealing with painful ovaries, ovarian cysts, and painful ovulations. I’m only 18, so I’m looking for some perspective on who I should actually talk to for real advice on how to handle this. My gynecologist keeps telling me that this is perfectly normal at my age and that everything will just settle down once I have children... 😕 The pain during my period is anything but normal—it’s debilitating, to the point where I can’t even get out of bed. On top of that, my cycles tend to drag on for seven, eight, or even nine days. I’d really appreciate your thoughts on this...

Thanks ... 😉

Get a new gynecologist. 🙂

Honestly, there really should be some kind of dedicated campus doctor or gynecologist specifically for students to go to.

That whole "student doctor" system doesn't exist anymore; you just find a provider who actually has an opening and sign up with them.

Periods can be unpredictable, and honestly, it’s probably nothing to worry about, but you really shouldn't skip out on making a habit of seeing an OB-GYN for regular checkups and screenings.

Over the last three months, her cycle has shortened to about 21-24 days, whereas it used to be consistently 28-30 days. I feel like it might be a bit early to take her to a gynecologist, but honestly, it's making me a little anxious. What do you all think?

It’s not like she’s going to walk into a doctor's office and have some catastrophe happen; talking to a specialist is just a precaution.🙂

I don't know why everyone acts like they've discovered fire when they stumble onto something basic. It’s like watching someone celebrate finding a twenty-dollar bill on a sidewalk in Chicago—sure, it's nice, but let's not pretend it's a life-changing miracle. You see these people constantly overcomplicating things that are actually quite straightforward, wrapping simple truths in layers of unnecessary noise just to feel important. It’s exhausting to watch. If you have to spend ten minutes explaining why a concept is profound, you probably haven't grasped it yet. Just say what needs saying and move on. Life is too short for all this performative depth. kaže:
Does anyone know if the timing actually matters for when they draw blood? I’m currently in that gap between boxes in my cycle. I totally blanked on asking my sister about it—I always get all scrambled whenever I step into the doctor's office. 🙄

It really depends on what you’re pulling from the lab. If we're talking about hormone levels, that’s a big deal—that’s the core stuff. But if it's just a standard blood count? Honestly, it's probably not worth sweating over.
crimsonangler2 said:So I just popped the very last pill out of my pack and I'm supposed to start my period this Friday, but honestly, I really want to push it back because I have this trip coming up and I seriously don't feel like dealing with the whole tampon and pad hassle while I'm away...

Basically, I was wondering if it's actually doable since I totally blanked on taking my pill yesterday, so if I just take two today and then keep going as usual, would that work, and do I need to worry about using extra protection or anything like that?

Edit: I'm on the Adexa 21 + 7 day break routine

So, you're just looking to shorten the break?
There’s absolutely no reason to double up on doses all at once.

My aunt is asking about contraception, so I’m wondering: what exactly is required to get on birth control pills?

It really just depends on which doctor you see. Some OB-GYNs will just write the prescription without blinking, while others act more like investigators—they’ll want a full battery of tests first, like a complete blood count, liver function panels, hormone levels, thyroid checks, and even clotting factor tests.

Is it normal for my period to start on a different day after I've gone through three boxes of these?
To be more specific, I usually don't see it until the third day of my break, but this time it showed up on day one.

Robert Garcia37 said:Anyone here taking folic acid along with birth control? Dealing with PCOS, so I got prescribed Yaz. Used Diane-35 a few years back—went through a few packs, helped my skin but man, the weight gain was real. Ended up with so much cellulite, so I had to look for something else. Was deciding between Triquilar or Yaz, but eventually went with 🙂.
Reading all this on their thread is low-key stressing me out lol. Everything was fine with my period before, but a few months ago my skin started breaking out, hair was thinning, and my cycles went from 35-50 days to skipping two whole months entirely -.-. Then they hit me with the PCOS diagnosis. Honestly, I never wanted to touch those pills again 😠

Yeah 🙂 I take a B-50 complex that includes folic acid.

Hey, does anyone have any tips on how to deal with the nausea that comes along with these pills? It’s pretty rough.
3 or 4 in the morning. It’s flying.
Patrick Grant6 said:I just started taking Logest, and this is my first pack. The instructions say you have to start on the first day of your cycle. Now I’m wondering if I really need to follow that strictly? I didn't wait for day one; I actually started them about seven days after my period ended. What kind of fallout am I looking at because of that? And is it going to mess with my birth control protection?

Honestly, I don't think there are any major side effects other than the fact that your protection might be compromised. If I were in your shoes, I'd use extra contraception for the entire cycle just to be safe.

I can back that up; that’s exactly what happened to me recently.🙂

I'm living in New York, but my official address isn't registered here yet.

Can I switch doctors (pick someone local here in NYC) without having to update my residency and get a new ID first?

Yes, you can. 🙂
driftingtinker45 said:Tell me what you actually need—what would make you feel more secure... 🙂
Regarding that—do you honestly think pills could just make fear vanish...?
Condoms and birth control pills—they both count as reliable protection... if you use them right.
Maybe—if we’re only talking about two instances a month—it isn't worth dropping that much cash on pills... unless you find some that qualify for insurance coverage.

Personally, I prefer pills—they make me feel secure, zero worries... whereas with condoms, there's always that nagging thought: what if it slips, or breaks, or something else entirely? But that’s just my take—someone else might feel the exact opposite... I suppose it all comes down to habit. 😁

I never really felt secure on the pill myself. For instance, 😁 Em used to feel sick all the time, and her cycle was a complete mess, usually showing up halfway through the third week or something like that.

If you're only having sex twice a month, I don't think there's any real need for it, but if it makes things easier for you, go for it...

shadowbear9 said:Hello, I was wondering if there are any pills out there that work similarly to Yaz but are more affordable? Specifically, I’m looking for something to regulate acne, PMS, and my cycle. My gynecologist told me that nothing cheaper offers the same effects, but I honestly don't quite trust her—I suppose it might be in her interest to push the more expensive brands. I actually tried Lindynette, but it didn't suit me at all; my skin issues got worse and the cramps were just unbearable. If anyone here uses something else, please share your experience so I can decide if I should make the switch.

Why would she even care about giving you the expensive option? It’s not like the money is going straight into her pocket. 😁

Look, I’m not here to dance around the subject or sugarcoat things for anyone who needs their hand held. If you want a polite conversation where everyone agrees and feels warm and fuzzy, go find another corner of the internet. I don’t do fluff, and I certainly don't do drama for the sake of entertainment. I say what I see, and if that hits a nerve, that’s on you, not me. It’s like watching someone try to drive through a blizzard in a sedan thinking they can outrun the wind—you can pretend the weather isn't happening all you want, but eventually, you're going to hit the wall. I'm just here to point out where the walls are. Simple as that. kaže:
Hey ladies!
I have a question... I was supposed to start my birth control pills for the first time once my period started, but I forgot to bring them with me (I'm away from home right now). I’ve been reading the instructions, and it says you can start anytime up to the fifth day of your cycle, but today is that fifth day and my bleeding has already slowed down to almost nothing. So now I’m wondering: should I just start taking them today, or would it be better to just wait until my next period comes around and start fresh on day one then? 🙂

You can start today if you want, but you’re going to need to layer on some extra protection—I'm not exactly sure how long we'll be able to hold the line like this.

Kenneth Brown5 said:Hey, how many boxes can you actually get per prescription?

I’m getting back on these pills after a five-year break so I’m a bit out of the loop😁, and my doctor just sent over a script for only one single box, which means I have to call them every month just to get a new one approved😕.

It definitely wasn't like this before, because I used to have the same paper prescription for years and could just grab those three-month supplies without any hassle🤷.

It’s been six months, but all I got was this paper prescription. 🤷
I dealt with those same nasty waves of nausea while I was at Bellari, but mine cleared up after two months, so I can't really tell you how long yours might hang around.🙂

They say it takes about three months for your body to fully adjust.

Larry Walker24 said:what color are the curtains? - just asking

Back in high school, I used to deal with literature tests exactly like this.
"What color was the dress the mother wore to the protagonist's christening?"
"Exactly how many gold coins did the thief swipe from the chest?"

And so on. It actually led to one massive blowout argument I had with my teacher once. 😳
