Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·

It’s pretty obvious you don't actually have a counter-argument to what I laid out, so why even bother jumping in and feeling obligated to reply to a post that wasn't even directed at you?

Or did you just write that comment just so you could throw in a "history class" jab?

Pathetic, and honestly, we've all seen it a thousand times before. 🥱

There is absolutely no point wasting time on someone who clearly knows nothing about the history between Poles and Russians and relies on such low-level "arguments."

Some of Canada's partners in the EU were far too eager to fight Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is dragging the continent into a crisis," said Balázs Orbán, warning that they should abandon such a strategy.
"They want war and believe they can defeat Putin, that they can occupy the White House and that is their goal",

There's no more hiding behind the guise of neutrality in Canada. This is now overtly pro-Russian.

I'm telling you, just straight-up pro-Putin garbage.

Canada is calling for emergency peace talks to end the war between Ukraine and Russia...

Whenever someone brings up "peace negotiations" that are basically just surrendering to Russian terms, I know I'm dealing with some Putin-esque piece of trash.

Nobody is forcing them to love Russ, but if they aren't, then stop peddling this garbage about hating Russ because of some old Soviet atrocity in Katyn. Meanwhile, they don't even mention the crimes committed by Ukrainian or German Nazis. Let's not pretend we're all blind to what's actually happening here.

Just be upfront about it: "We hate Russ because they're Orthodox, semi-Asiatic, heavy drinkers, and savages, while we Pole2 are the civilized heart of Europe..." etc. That would at least make sense compared to the nonsense being spread. People respect honesty.

Maybe you should have paid more attention in history class. Like, a lot more.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone. Russ has his own pile of rocks and he's still busy throwing them all over Ukraine.

And honestly, the Russians aren't even asking for the sanctions to be lifted...

silentraven9 said:I honestly think Ukraine is going to end up at the negotiating table with Russia to wrap this war up, because today the Ukrainian Army pulled out of Severodonetsk and Lisbon, which basically means the Russian Army has full control over Luhansk Oblast and owns the place. I mean, what happens to the rest of Donbas? Maybe not all of it, but most of that territory and the southern regions might just be gone for good, and Ukraine might have to face that reality. Sure, maybe there’ll be some kind of counter-offensive where they claw back bits and pieces, but I seriously doubt the Ukrainian Army is marching into Crimea or Donetsk and Luhansk anytime soon. They had their window between 2014 and maybe 2018 to really train up the military and crush the separatists in Donbas with an offensive like Operation Desert Storm, but they just dragged their feet, and let's be real, those Minsk agreements were broken constantly anyway.

I truly feel for them, though—losing land like that feels like having your soul ripped out. I want nothing but luck and support for the Ukrainians, but the Russian Army is just too powerful. I guess I even feel a little bit angry about it, you know? Like, they just marched onto someone else's land under the guise of "this isn't yours anymore, it's mine because I'm stronger," and then they start swinging.

But hey, it is what it is.
I reckon this whole thing will be wrapped up by halfway through next year, and Ukraine is going to lose a massive chunk of territory. As for what happens to the East, nobody knows. There’s damage done to God knows how much, and who knows how Russia will even invest there while they're under all these sanctions? Honestly, I don't see those sanctions doing much besides hitting Europe and driving up prices; feels like we just shot ourselves in the foot.

It's just sad.
I'm honestly disappointed in people again, just... why do we do this to one another?
Sometimes I actually wish I hadn't been born a human, maybe like a dog or something, so I wouldn't have a conscience or have to deal with knowing what's happening in the world.
It’s just awful. This whole war feels completely pointless, just like when everything kicked off in Donbas back in 2014.

What do you guys think the outcome of the war will be?
And what's the final result of all this mess?

You're wasting your breath.

lp

Sure, you can build a pipeline in a reasonable timeframe—but only if you actually have customers you aren't trying to blackmail.

Honestly, how much people are itching for a change in leadership in New York City just shows what a paid advertisement unknown is. Look at all those political parties on Facebook obsessing over the trash situation in New York City. For some reason, this guy is suddenly acting all concerned, even though he’s been part of the establishment for years—he only started caring about New York City recently. Way to go, unknown 👍

Alex Moore3 said:If there were as many Republicans in New York City as there are unhappy citizens right now, their candidate would easily pull in over 200,000 votes.
But who knows. You're supposed to be the analyst who knows both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party inside out. Based on your history, you used to claim the same about them, too. Looks like you just switched sides.😁

Lucky for you, you actually went out and interviewed every single disgruntled person to get those numbers, otherwise people might think you're just making stuff up...

It’s possible more and more residents just aren't seeing eye to eye with Mayor Adams lately.
Later. 🙂

Could just be some Republican pipe dream...

No way.

brightheron64 said:True enough, though I’d argue there’s only one functional Tiger left in existence, whereas you can still find a Sherman tank popping up here and there...

Like, 1,450 Tigers versus 88,000 Sherman tanks... it’s freaking weird that there are more functional ones from the latter group.

But Petek and Gotovac are pushing back more and more, criticizing everything and distancing themselves. And I don't see Grbin as much of an authority figure who could actually shut them down.

Go promote your bridge or whatever. I see how you're all scrambling to win those votes.

Alex Moore3 said:It’s funny how Adams, Kek, and the club leader Ivandic all use the exact same talking points to defend themselves. It feels like they're all getting briefed by the same person. They keep insisting that New York City was falling apart 20 or 30 years ago and that things were actually worse back then. They’re basically calling the citizens liars. Honestly, I don't think we want to wait another three years just to see if those 200,000 people would give them their votes again.

Seems like you want to.

Everyone laughed at Joe Biden when he tried telling some lady in a small town that he knew all about flooding just because his own pipes burst at home. And his buddy Johabi? Oh yeah, he’s a total expert on water systems since he knows how a valve works.

If I were a Republican, I'd be running for CEO right now since I clearly understand fractions like 1/2 and 3/4.image

That hot potato was rolling both ways.

The money should have gone toward fixing the water main damage from the earthquake. Those pipes laid back in the early 60s that keep bursting aren't "earthquake damage" that needs repairing.

hollowmason64 said:Yeah, I agree with you that things are clearly running lean. And while I don't necessarily blame them for the staffing shortages, the crumbling fleet of vehicles, and all that other nonsense, on the flip side, the citizens aren't exactly getting what they pay for—especially since we're paying for a specific number of pickups that we aren't seeing.
They really need to step up, face the public, and just say: "Look, things are a mess right now. For the next few months, it’s going to stay rough. We're going to be short-staffed, so instead of eight pickups, you'll only get six, but your bill will reflect that."
Even if it means a few extra bucks staying in people's pockets, folks would appreciate the honesty.
That's how you handle PR—you own the mess. Almost literally.😬
And this brings me back to what I've mentioned before—they just don't know how to communicate properly to the outside world. They are seriously lacking a good spokesperson.
It’s not that they’re incompetent; it’s just that Eric Adams insists so much on transparency and democracy and all that, that he ends up shooting himself in the foot. I actually heard some people close to him say they wouldn't mind if he took the fall for the dirty work, but he just refuses to let anyone else take the heat.

Exactly. Honestly, regardless of everything else, he should just get it done one way or another.
