The new season of Premier League kicks off in just 11 days, and we've got the Community Shield happening this weekend. I'm wondering if a new thread is coming our way soon, and if anyone has already grabbed the spot to start it?

USB ports not working on my laptop
in IT Support ·
I've had this laptop for three years now, and honestly, it’s been a total workhorse until just recently. I’ve cycled through everything—Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Windows 7, and Windows 10. I’ve done plenty of solo installs and some dual-boot setups too. I actually rolled back to Windows 7 specifically for the World Cup because I’m using this ancient USB TV tuner that just refuses to play nice with Windows 10. Everything was running perfectly fine until a couple of days ago. I powered the thing on, and suddenly, nothing works. Not even my external keyboard or mouse plugged into the USB ports. My setup has two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports.
The weird part? Everything works flawlessly when I boot into Linux Mint. I tried doing a clean reinstall of Windows 7, but no luck there either—the exact same issue popped up immediately after the installation finished. At this point, I'm thinking my only real move might be to try installing Windows 10 again. 🤷

Yeah, I'm telling you, once that was done, there was absolutely nothing left in that section. Even running a scan for changes didn't change a single thing.

I’m running a dual boot setup with Windows 7 and Ubuntu. On Ubuntu, the USB ports work perfectly—whatever I plug in works instantly. But on Windows 7? Not a single port works. I even tried a clean reinstall of Windows, but still nothing.
I haven't touched a single setting in the BIOS, so I know it's not that. Plus, when I check the Device Manager, I don't see anything under the USB controllers...

..instead, this is what shows up for me:

I've spent ages Googling fixes and trying everything I could find online. I even attempted the methods suggested in this guide https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge...-in-windows-7/.
I even went through all that nonsense on the Dell support site where they try to get you to run driver scans and stuff. They didn't find a thing, and it was just a massive waste of my time.
Nothing works. I can't connect a keyboard, a mouse, a USB TV tuner, or even a simple flash drive...
All the drivers from the disc that came with the laptop were installed right after I reinstalled Windows.

Honestly, this guy just jumps from one thread to another dropping the exact same link to his YouTube channel. He’s clearly just trying to farm views at this point. 🤣

So, when are you guys going public? Thursday?
Best World Cup semifinal match ever?

Robert Torres said:That's weird. I wasn't even seven years old during the World Cup in France, hadn't even started school yet, but everything from that tournament is still burned into my brain. Even after all this time, it feels like I'm remembering someone else's life.
And it’s not just about the matches or the goals. I remember exactly where I was watching every single game, who I was with, random comments from people at home, and my little brother's pessimistic predictions that always ended up leaving him totally bummed out. The smells, the anticipation, the vibe... it's hard to imagine a better summer to be a kid. For my generation, soccer became a full-blown obsession right then.
I remember that World Cup in France way better than the one in Brazil that wrapped up four years ago, and it'll always be my absolute favorite...
I remember our games, especially those knockout rounds. Germany stands out. I even remember watching the players being greeted on TV, but the rest of the tournament is a total blur for me. Honestly, maybe you just have a better memory than I do.🤷
I can recall tiny little details without even needing to watch highlights. I remember the name Tor Andre Flo and how Brazil got wrecked in the group stage. I remember the Romanians and their blue hair. I remember Salas and Zamorano taking down Italy. Small stuff like that sticks, but remembering specific scores or match details? No way.
That summer, I mostly associate it with FIFA '99, Carnival de Paris, Adidas's Tricolore, and that rooster mascot.
My real, detailed memories don't really kick in until the Euro 2000.

I was just a kid in elementary school back in '98, so my memory of those games is a bit fuzzy. I mostly rely on watching the replays now. Looking at the list of matches I’ve revisited, that Netherlands-Uruguay game was an absolute banger. I can't bring myself to vote for Germany, though. Sure, they absolutely dismantled Brazil, but it wasn't even a contest. It was just Germany running wild; there was zero suspense. Honestly, after those first 45 minutes of pure chaos, it actually got kind of boring.

I'd love to see someone actually try to tax the church here in the States. You'd quickly see how much the government would absolutely lose its mind🤣, it would be a total disaster.

🤣🤣, what a character. Seriously, just go ahead and enjoy your little fantasy world. Sending love. You actually heard him saying he was slowing down, yet somehow he was faster than Hamilton and at a distance where nobody could even touch him. 🤣 🙏
neonfox65 said:But let's be real, it was Max and that's that. He's the one who slowed him down. If anyone else had done it, people would be acting like they were the absolute key to everything, you know?...
How on earth was he slowing him down when he couldn't even get close enough to make an attack? For real. 🤣
It honestly doesn't matter who was behind him because there was zero chance of passing anyway. Even over the team radio, he was complaining that overtaking was basically impossible.
I haven’t really been following Formula 1 closely for a few years now. Every single time a new season rolls around, it’s the exact same hype machine. They promise big changes, better racing, more intensity—blah, blah, blah. So, I’ll download the stream for the first race thinking things might be different, but then it's just more of the same. Just endless formation laps and boring little trains where everyone stays stuck in a line with zero overtaking or actual fighting.
It’s honestly just the same old story. Total boredom. The only thing remotely interesting was that little three-way scrap between Fernando Alonso, Nico Hulkenberg, and Esteban Ocon.

I’m officially lodging a complaint regarding Gill’s constant trolling. It’s honestly crossed every line of decency by now, yet there’s absolutely zero accountability.
Every single week, this guy's entire contribution boils down to nothing but negativity. He posts these low-effort, inflammatory nonsense comments just to bait other people into arguments. Then, once his trolling backfires and United actually loses a game, he disappears for a few days only to resurface next week and do the exact same thing.
Just take a look at his post history on this Premier League topic. There is zero substance. You won't find a single constructive thought or anything worth reading—just endless little jabs and provocations.
I've been seeing this exact same pattern for months every time I check the Premier League topic. It’s getting so exhausting that I’ve actually stopped posting because the whole thread feels tainted.
People will tell me to just hit the "ignore" button, but that doesn't fix the underlying issue. He's building an audience of people who keep biting at his bait, which turns the entire discussion into a cycle of Gill’s provocations followed by everyone quoting him to mock him when United slips up. It’s a ridiculous loop.
I regularly report his posts where he’s being a troll or being abusive. So far, I've seen him get a warning a couple of times, but based on the rules, repeated offenses like this should definitely trigger harsher penalties.
I remember we used to have similar users like Gill who were banned from the Premier League topic and football discussions in general a long time ago. I don't understand why this guy keeps getting a free pass while he actively ruins the quality of this thread for months, if not years.
I’m asking the moderators to please step in here. Thanks!

It’s been a full year and some of you still haven't gotten the hint with all these questions 🤣 🤣. Seriously, guys, get it through your heads: this "temporary" measure isn't going anywhere. It's been a year already—you should've realized by now that it's permanent, so just drop it and stop asking.
