Postpartum sciatica: Anyone else dealing with this? in Women's Health ·
Turns out my sciatica was actually just referred pain from my kidneys after all.

I spent last night dealing with "attacks" of kidney stones—nausea and vomiting included—so I ended up in the ER. They pumped me full of Advil and Tylenol injections, and now I can't breastfeed for at least 48 hours after the last dose...

I’m heading back for more tests tomorrow.

Honestly, I'm terrified that once these meds wear off, that disgusting pain is going to come crawling back. I think what I felt last night was actually worse than when I was in labor.
Seriously guys, it was pure hell. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I couldn't even turn over to nurse the baby tonight🙂🙂🙂
It’s honestly getting worse, and the pain is just becoming unbearable.

Yesterday, I ended up applying some LED gel twice and took an Advil.

I might have to try those Voltaren suppositories, though it means I'll have to give the little one something other than my breast since I just can't deal with this anymore.

I guess nobody is going to take me seriously or even look my way until at least two months postpartum.🤷

My chiropractor won't even see me yet😢
He told me not to even think about getting any treatment until I'm at least two months postpartum.
His advice? Just lie on my side, curl up into a ball, and pull my knees toward my chin as far as they'll go...
Ugh, seriously... I feel like I'm going to lose my mind and end up in the ER if this keeps up.😢😢😢😢

Here’s what one pediatrician had to say:

It’s pretty unlikely that you just suddenly developed intense rectal pain out of nowhere; it’s much more probable that some kind of tissue damage happened during delivery itself (and honestly, we can't rule out pelvic fractures either). So, instead of just popping painkillers, you really ought to get a proper diagnosis—it would be a good idea to see an orthopedist and maybe get some pelvic imaging done.
As for the meds—you're fine to take both acetaminophen and ibuprofen. The levels that end up in breast milk aren't going to be dangerous for the baby.

amberpilot14 said:Can someone please explain what sciatica pain actually feels like? I really don't want to spend my afternoon Googling it right now. 😁

For me, it started as this sharp pain right in my tailbone, and then it just bled into my right butt cheek, up my hip, and all the way down to my knee... honestly, now my whole leg is starting to go numb.

I’ve tried calling my doctor, but she’s nowhere to be found—probably out at the golf course or something. I tried calling my OB/GYN, but they aren't picking up either. I even called the ER just to get some advice, and they basically told me to call the pediatrician since I'm breastfeeding. So, I call the pediatrician, and they tell me to just rub some Deep relief on it. I told them, "Look, the instructions specifically say NOT to use this while nursing," and they just went, "Oh, well, I have no idea then..."
Oh my God...

It hurts so bad when I lie down; I actually had to sit upright just to breastfeed while I was in the hospital because it was the only way to manage the pain.
It hurts a little less when I'm walking, but there is absolutely no way I can put any weight on my right leg. There's zero chance I can even step up a stair without whimpering (and thank Bob I have plenty of stairs at my house)...

I took some Lupocet two days ago, but it didn't do a thing for me.

I gave birth about ten days ago, and I think I’m dealing with sciatica now.
First, I was totally convinced it was just my tailbone acting up. I kept waiting for it to just go away on its own—I figured everything would eventually snap back into place after delivery—but the pain is actually getting worse. It’s spread down my right leg to the point where I can barely stand on it. My leg starts tingling at night, I can hardly manage the stairs, and getting out of bed is an absolute nightmare...

I tried calling my doctor, but she’s out all week, so I wanted to see if anyone else here has gone through this. What kind of meds, creams, or gels have you used?
(Keep in mind I’m breastfeeding, so I can't just take whatever I want)

Thanks in advance!
Oh please, honey, go read some actual literature once in a while—maybe then you’ll understand why sometimes you just need years of intense, passionate sex to get by!
Check this out:

I actually took one four days before my period was due, using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test...
I guess it really just comes down to how reliable the specific test is.
Kenneth Long4 said:Parameters. It’s one of those terms that sounds far more clinical than it actually needs to be, isn't it? In my experience, whether you're looking at data sets or just trying to set boundaries in a project, everything comes down to the constraints you establish at the start. If you don't define the parameters clearly, you're essentially driving a car without a steering wheel—you might be moving fast, but you have absolutely no idea where you'll end up. It's all about setting the stage before the performance begins.
Units. It’s funny how much we rely on them without even thinking about it, isn't it? We move through our lives governed by these little increments—inches, pounds, gallons—assuming everyone else sees the world through the exact same lens. But then you realize how messy it actually gets when people aren't on the same page. It reminds me of trying to follow a recipe where one person is using grams and another is grabbing a measuring cup; you end up with a kitchen disaster instead of a souffle. Everything needs a standard if we want to make sense of the chaos.
The results.
What can we actually expect from these values?
It’s roughly 95 percentiles.
When you start seeing those beta HCG numbers pop up on a lab report, it can feel like you’re staring at a cryptic code rather than actual medical data. It’s one of those things where the sheer range of "normal" can be incredibly disorienting. One week you're looking at a number that seems low, and the next, it's skyrocketed, leaving you wondering if everything is proceeding according to plan. I often think of it like a speedometer in a car. If you’re cruising down a highway in Ohio, a certain speed feels perfectly natural. But if you suddenly hit 80 mph in a school zone, or drop to 20 mph on an open interstate, you start questioning the mechanics of the engine. In the same way, these hormone levels aren't just static points on a map; they are indicators of momentum. It isn't necessarily about hitting a specific target number, but rather about how that number evolves over time. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster, isn't it? You find yourself refreshing patient portals and overanalyzing every decimal point, searching for certainty in a process that is inherently fluid. Just remember that biology rarely follows a straight line, and even when the numbers jump around, it doesn't always mean the engine is stalling.
It looks like we’re looking at a value under 0.090. In my experience, when you see numbers hitting that low threshold, it usually signals that we've moved well past the baseline and into a different territory entirely. It’s a bit like watching the mercury drop during a sudden cold snap in Chicago—once it hits a certain point, the whole atmosphere changes. I'm curious to see how this fits into the broader data set we've been discussing. If this trend holds, we might be looking at a significant shift.
Units per liter. It’s a standard way we measure enzyme activity in blood tests here in the States. If you're looking at your lab results and seeing this abbreviation next to things like ALT or AST, that's what it stands for.

The testing process utilizes an immunochemical method known as electrochemiluminescence (ECLIA), specifically performed on the Roche Diagnostics 2010 platform.

So, this is the beta test result... does that mean I'm not pregnant?

hm...
what was the actual beta number?
I'm honestly lost here... is briskbadger11 actually pregnant or what???
Everything about this just feels super confusing...

I've got my own photographer if anyone needs one—just shoot me a DM to ask about her work and rates.
I honestly haven't heard a single word about that change either...
Maybe it's just a fever or some nasty cold...
I'm with you on that...
Look, I'm not saying you're a bad person, but honestly? You probably shouldn't have posted on a forum like this that you're looking to bail on everything...
Most people here are actually trying to put in the work and land a job...

No problem at all...
That’s basically how I handled it...
I went over to my grandma's place and told her, "Look, use these little boxes for the buffet treats, and use these ones for the guests..."
For the buffet spread, you'll need about 50 pieces (we had 20 tables with two per table—so roughly 50 total)🙂
As for the guests, aim for 150 (I thought I needed 90, but in the end, everything just split up perfectly)
Just pack whatever is left over into some larger containers

swiftmason9 said:Hey, purple, you think this sounds trendy enough? I’m trying to figure out how many desserts we should grab for about 110 people. We won't need to stock up on anything at home since we aren't hosting there—it'll just be for the restaurant setup and for passing around to guests... 😘

If the tables are round, I guess you could either do two smaller platters of about 1.7 lbs each (which is what we did), or just one massive tray holding maybe 4.5 lbs, depending on how much you want to deal with...

As for the favor boxes, it really depends on what kind of packaging you pick up...
We usually put about 12 ounces of cake in our boxes...

Maybe just grab one tray and one box, take them down to the bakery, and let the pros there tell you what works best...

Walter Phillips4 you really just made my day...
I was actually born on June 16th in the new arena over in Green River, and honestly, we still haven't managed to drag ourselves out there to see how they finally finished it up.
We did swing by once while they were still in the middle of painting everything

I’m gonna be hanging out in the new hall over at Green Roof...
The space holds anywhere from 100 to 400 people, and they designed it so you can partition everything off depending on how big the crowd is.
They have round tables, and honestly, the service is fantastic—the food is great too. You won't find anything missing, and I guess you won't be stuck waiting forever for a waiter to show up, either.

It’s basically sitting there in the hands of a master...
And you can find the envelopes in all the local bookstores... check out Barnes & Noble downtown, they should have everything you need.
