On top of that, you’re basically the definition of a gossip; you even admitted yourself that you do it all the time, claiming your inbox is overflowing with all those rumors you keep. Honestly, you shouldn't even be a moderator because of that, but I guess since you suck up to the boss, you're protected—just like some pampered grizzly bear.

He treats them like outcasts, completely ignoring the fact that there are actual human beings on the other side. He treats them like garbage while acting superior, especially regarding that Mengele mandibula topic, which is probably one of the most useless discussions ever, especially in a sub-forum called Lonely Hearts. Anyone reading that might actually think people are facing real issues, when really, the thread has nothing to do with the subject; it's just a playground for him to keep doing exactly what he wants. Not that he's perfect himself—he has those ridiculous mustaches—but apparently, pointing that out is considered an insult now. So, I suppose if someone posts an ad, he just has free rein to belittle them.

When things become useless like that, people just check out. They don't want to inhabit an environment like this—an environment that moderators actually ought to be managing. I suppose Ludica would have wanted to clean things up, and I would've trusted her more; I even took penalties and warnings from her in the past. But because of you, that isn't possible anymore, since you've just carved out your own little corner to play your own games.

It would be helpful if you actually got a sense of just how poorly you handle things. I suppose this is a solid explanation for why better moderation is necessary. It isn't even about the constant arguing or the friction between users—that’s always going to happen. But I would argue that the USA still has enough of a sensitive audience where certain posts from random forum users, who are obsessed with internet theories about facial ratios and jawlines, can actually impact people and make them withdraw even further.

But obviously, it's in the interest of Latitei, since she thrives on the drama and gossip, especially the second kind which she wasn't even ashamed to admit.

I just don't get why administration still hasn't figured out where the issue lies, or why everyone is eventually migrating to Discord to escape the swamp that certain individuals, alongside Latite, have created.
A long time ago, more users moved over to Offtopic the moment that section was approved as its own little subforum—essentially a private playground where certain people get protected because, well, she "likes" them.
We knew back then exactly what would happen with that subforum, and what we're seeing today is the inevitable result. 🙂
But whatever, Anderlon basically signaled an era of niche subforums by appointing her as a moderator for the US, and he was active there for a bit, starting threads where people check in just because that's some trend on the Moderators board, so why not do it on the US too.
Yet, actually dealing with real problems or listening to the voices of those who were once active in that subforum? I doubt that will ever happen, because you can't negotiate with that. Whatever is suggested gets shot down just because it interferes with someone's agenda—especially Latitee's plan to let specific people do whatever they want without any consequences.

People don't want to stick around in a swamp because it's filthy and reeks, but apparently, it smells wonderful to moderator Latitee. Administration clearly doesn't mind, not even the fact that Ludica isn't even actively moderating the US anymore.
It's pathetic to watch a subforum that used to be a decent place—not perfect, but good enough for people to socialize and communicate with a bit of positivity. Now, it's just a private clique. It's sad.

Nowadays, when everyone is bragging about lightning-fast fiber optics, we’re stuck on a forum that feels more like dial-up from the last century. Why? I guess because keeping a decent server running requires serious annual capital, and the small group of people who actually care about being here faces constant hurdles. Over the last few weeks, access has been hit-or-miss between 8 and 9 PM. For the past couple of days, sometimes it takes 20 SECONDS just to load a single page. And don't even get me started on the login issues; those have been hanging around much longer.

So, what’s the plan? Probably just poking some poor technician with a pitchfork to try and patch up this pathetic excuse for a server—one that the owner has basically ignored along with the forum for years.
I get it, we’re all here for free, and I realize the ads are there to generate revenue, but this forum is like a tiny microcosm of our entire country. Money is coming in from somewhere, but nothing is ever reinvested to move things forward.

Anderlone, why won't you just invest in this forum and take a step forward? Honestly, even the layout hasn't changed in years, but the actual functionality is low—maybe even nonexistent at this point. Should we be paying a symbolic fee just to keep the servers alive? There are nearly 3,000 people online right now, yet only 400 are logged in, which is obviously due to reasons you repeatedly ignore without any explanation. You seem to be living under the illusion that everything is fine just because it's barely limping along. Why change anything if it technically works? The money will land in your pocket regardless; none of us have any say in this anyway, and you’ll probably never respect a single suggestion regarding the forum or the server.
Look, if an annual membership was just, say, $3, you multiply that by 3,000 and suddenly you have enough not just to maintain the server, but to actually pay the crew that moderates this place for FREE. You'd even have enough left over for coffee and a sandwich. But I guess that’s too much work for you. Right now, you’ve got two or three people patching everything together while a huge number of dissatisfied people actually WANT to participate, join discussions, and reply to posts—unless, of course, your only wish is for us all to go outside and soak up some sun, since you're such a saint.

I don't know, I find it hard to believe someone would systematically neglect a forum that actually has significant traffic and potential, especially in an era where WhatsApp groups and Discord have already eaten most other forums alive. It makes no sense to me that someone wouldn't want to invest even a single cent to make this function normally. In this day and age, with so many hosting providers offering reasonable prices, it's just embarrassing...

I guess I’m not exactly rooting for the total shutdown of this site, mostly because it's given me plenty of memories—some good, some not so great—and I've met a lot of people here. But then again, maybe it needs to crash for a week or so, just to force the owner to realize we're living in the 21st century. The server desperately needs an upgrade, rather than me having to manually refresh every single time I try to post or even just check a new thread.

The layout itself is decent enough, I guess, but visually it feels stuck in the past. Honestly, there are more restrictions on this Reddit than actual features available. Back in the day, we could just update our own signatures, but now? Now you have to practically beg an admin to do it for you. And that’s just one example of how limited things have become.

This question has been hanging around for, I guess, years. When is the server hosting this Reddit actually going to crash? Here’s another one. When will the avant-garde boss at Microsoft finally open his wallet and invest in something more modern and stable? Another question: should we just start some crowdfunding?

I don't know, the ads are obviously there to scrape some cash if someone happens to click them, because, well, that's how it works. But seriously, in almost 13 years of using this Reddit, has it really not been possible to make enough money for a decent server?
I'm not sure if people realize this, but all your passwords and messages are basically exposed since this site isn't running on HTTPS. Mine, yours, his, but CNN money keeps flowing in while the site just gets patched together. Every single year, right when the heatwaves hit, it's like the server just can't take it anymore—as if an Intel Core i7 physically can't handle the heat and starts lagging.

So, you logged in, the home screen loaded, and then you realized you weren't actually logged in?

Or maybe you got a notification, CLICKED ON IT, only to find out it wasn't there, even though it is? You just have to refresh a few times, but then after you write a reply and go back to the thread, it shows a status like the message wasn't even sent? And yet, after several solid refreshes, it finally flashes and says it was sent. Often it sends twice, just in case. Thanks, Microsoft!

The boss at Microsoft will probably show up again with some pathetic explanation about how certain things are technically impossible (in the 21st century!) or how there's no money (haha, lol!), just to buy more time. They'll sweep the problem under the rug and move on. If the server survives this summer, man, that would be fantastic. I have this gut feeling that I'll come back here in 10 years and see the exact same mess, because as long as the cash keeps trickling in and everything stays barely functional, nobody complains.
