The real tragedy is how our guys go all-in on matches like this, only to end up looking like popped balloons afterward. We play our hearts out when we're the underdogs, but the moment we're expected to control the tempo, we stall out. I’m genuinely worried we might choke in the remaining two games—matches that actually matter more than this opener—something reminiscent of our 2006 collapse.
The reality is simple: attractive people have an easier ride. They get handed more opportunities than everyone else, and plenty of studies back this up. In preschool, the good-looking kids get more attention from their teachers. They’re catered to more, and staff tend to respond to their needs faster than they do for less attractive toddlers. It follows them into the classroom. Attractive students often pull higher grades than their peers, even when their actual knowledge is identical—or sometimes even inferior—to the less attractive kids who actually worked harder. The corporate world isn't any different. When hiring, attractive candidates frequently leapfrog over others, sometimes even with weaker resumes. If two applicants are equal on paper, the visual edge wins every time. It also translates to faster promotions and higher salaries. Then there's the dating scene. Attractive individuals enjoy much higher success rates and a significantly wider pool of potential partners. Sure, it can be a double-edged sword—some people might be too intimidated to approach someone they perceive as being out of their league—but those are the exceptions, not the rule.

It’s a shame when mods shut down engaging, high-traffic discussions just because two or three trolls decided to pollute them. Instead of killing the whole thread, they should just hand out warnings or bans to clean up the mess. That is what moderation tools are actually for.
Chinese people are likely leading the pack globally when it comes to 3D printing. They are already printing massive sections for next-gen fighter jets.
And us? We’re just sitting here engaging in pure wishful thinking. We continue to mock Chinese people and their "cheap plastic junk" imported for our flea markets, acting like that's all they do. In reality, the Chinese are the number two power in high-tech manufacturing. They sit right behind the USA, but ahead of high-tech Japan, Germany, the UK, France, and the rest... We are just a nation of four million football coaches, four million economists, four million politicians... you get the idea.
In a classic move, these forum sites are taking literal minutes to load today. I’m having to hit refresh three or four times just to get a page to render properly. Don't even get me started on the 408, 503, and 504 errors. How much longer?
Everything seems fine today. It might be because I finally updated Google Chrome to version 26.0, and Norton ran an update too, which required a full system reboot.
Yesterday, however, after that Google Chrome update, I still couldn't access the forums. Honestly, I suspect Norton was actually the culprit. 😕
