Reddit is down...

Hey everyone.

So, here’s the deal: whenever I click a link to the Reddit homepage, I’m stuck staring at a blank screen for at least thirty seconds before anything actually loads.
And it’s not just the main page—this same laggy nightmare happens every single time I try to open any other thread on this site.
The weird part is that everything else on the internet works perfectly fine; my connection isn't the issue.

I even went ahead and nuked my entire browser cache from orbit, but nope, nothing changed—it’s just this one site that's acting like it's running on a dial-up modem from 1995.
Does anyone have a clue what the hell is going on?

I can't get this PDF to open—it keeps throwing some kind of error on my PC. Any ideas?

I should also mention I’ve got a much newer antivirus running now because some idiot tried to send me a virus recently and everything went totally south. 🙂

But since I've got this new software installed, now I'm dealing with the mouse constantly "working in the background." I've been digging around trying to figure out what the hell is going on, but I just can't make sense of it.

Please, give me some advice because I seriously don't have the patience or the time to mess around with this crap...
It's driving me absolutely insane..
By the time I log onto Reddit, find the thread, open it, type my reply, hit send, and log out, over 10 minutes have vanished just because of this constant lagging.. 🙂

What do you mean by a "more modern" version? Which one are you actually using?

I’m running into the same thing. Sometimes I’m just sitting there waiting up to 10 minutes for the homepage to actually load. I have a few add-ons installed, but even when I toggle them off and back on, nothing changes. Clearing my cache and browsing history doesn't help either. It’s been happening for the last two or three days. My PC is about two weeks old, but running Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 10 is a nightmare. I don't have any of these issues when I use Firefox...

I'm using Google Chrome myself. I haven't really had any issues with it before—until now, anyway. For the last couple of days, this forum has been acting incredibly glitchy.

The Trojan basically chewed him up and spat him out, so he had to call in a tech guy to slap on some newer, beefier version of the software—I don't even know the exact specs.

I'm still rocking the old-school Internet Explorer myself, and honestly, everything was smooth sailing until now.

So, what, is there just some weird glitch happening all over the place these last few days? 😕

Reddit is always acting up—honestly, I haven't even been able to open a single PDF for a game in two days.

Man, what a relief.
It’s finally loading properly for once. I mean, look, I know Reddit can be glitchy sometimes, but up until now, everything was running pretty smooth without much drama.

By the way, I ran a full scan with Norton this morning and it flagged 8 detections. Who knows if some tiny bit of junk like that might be messing with things.

Anyway, the only thing still driving me nuts is this mouse cursor and all the background processes. Like, there's constantly that little spinning hourglass icon right next to the arrow.

Should I just wait for it to clear up on its own, or do I need to dive into the settings or something to fix it??

Among other interesting bits of data, Alexa.com reports regarding speed say this: Average Load Time for Reddit: Slow (2.426 Seconds), 74% of sites are faster.. I suppose there could always be even worse metrics out there.

As long as all your other websites are functioning properly and just one specific site is acting up, it's highly likely that "it's not you, it's them" 🙂.

The site finally seems to be back up and running this afternoon—it's lightning fast now, too. No more waiting around or dealing with any lag at all.

It honestly drives me crazy—I’ll spend time putting together a post, maybe around 10 to 15 sentences, and just when I finally hit "post reply," some random error pops up. It's enough to make anyone lose their cool 😬

I’ve basically trained myself to copy everything before I hit send 😁 especially when I’m typing out some long-winded manifesto. 😉

I follow the exact same protocol. I write out my entire response first, then copy and paste it when I'm ready to hit send. You can never be too careful—you never know when the site is going to glitch out on you and wipe everything you've worked on.

Seriously, just make sure you copy your text before hitting send if you’ve put any real effort into a long reply.
It honestly takes like two seconds, and it’s a total lifesaver if the site decides to crash or lag out on you right at the finish line. 🙂

I don't really feel like starting a whole new thread, so I'll just drop this here even if it feels a bit redundant.

Basically, I just realized I'm getting hit with this random pop-up message out of nowhere:
"Your account has been suspended!"

It keeps flashing at the top and bottom of the page like some glitchy ghost. What the hell is going on????
